I really hope he plays the chris rock spot from '08. At least an hour of stand up would make me happy. However, from the announcement it sounds like he'll be in the comedy tent and then shortly introduce some bands in the what stage (which sounds horrible to me). No one will get to see him perform in the comedy tent (by no one I mean 98% of the people that want to see him). The tent is not big enough for amount of people that will want to see him, AND the lines are going to be ridiculous.

I won't even try to get into the comedy tent unless by some stroke of luck, there's not a line to get tickets or it's halfway manageable.
I'll probably have to get my fix at What. I'm hoping he does some skits with Richter in between sets. But he'll prob just introduce each band with a few jokes.

I do, certainly. He's MCing the main stage on Friday and Saturday - and considering there's usually about an hour between the pre-headliner and headliner on What, that's a solid chunk of free time where he could perform.

^^^^^^^^
Thats what I REALLY hope happens. Nodepression is correct, for the caliber of someone like Conan, its gonna be really hard to see him in the Comedy Tent. Maybe before KOL on Fri, like Chris Rock before Metallica.

It seemed like (based on how they worded it) that he would be doing his show in the comedy theatre and just MCing the What stage.
It's definitely going to be crowded if his main show is in the comedy theatre.......but they are also calling it a "theatre" this year where in the past it's just been the Comedy Tent (last year was the Comedy Sweet). I have a feeling the comedy area will be a little larger this year as opposed to last few years. They are pushing the comedy aspect really hard and are even doing college comedy tours.

Someone pointed out that it's been a theatre before and actually was the same size. It was only the Comedy Sweet last year because of the sponsorship of Butterfinger.

I just looked at my schedules from 2007 and 2005 and the comedy tent was labeled as "(yet another) comedy tent" as a play on the the This, That, and Other tents that they already have. Last year was the biggest the comedy tent has ever been (thanks to the sponsorship) but this is the first time that I noticed them calling it the "comedy theatre".

^ That's fine by me, as a fan of both the late night show and the tonight show, it'd be great to see him do a show live. I'll flip if they do actual skits like they did on the show. "In the Year 3000" cracks me up every time

Just checked my 08 schedule and it was called the Bonnaroo Comedy Theatre. Unfortunately I don't think it will be expanded.
As for the MCing gig. I have a feeling it will be a bit more than a typical MC spot. Probably 15-20 minutes between a couple of acts. I'd guess we'll see about 45 minutes of Coco on the What stage each night. Then again, that's just one man's guess.

Agreed. With two days, he could perform for even more time than he would as a single What stage act. He could even do an extended informal 'open' for the What stage one (or both) days. And perhaps an extended 'closer' to introduce the headliner.

seeing as how he is fifth on the lineup and chris rock was sixth in 08, it seems that he would have to be used in an equally as awesome type of way. you may argue that by him mc'ing at all while also performing in the comedy tent is big, chris rock was advertised as the biggest live comedy routine in history. i feel like they would have already announced him as having such a slot if it was going to happen that way. so here's my thoughts:
1. he Will be used between sets for significant lengths of time, possibly doing stand up, commentary of the artists/fest, presenting videos him and his crew filmed throughout the festival, doing silly skits.
or
2. each night as a late night act he does the late show/tonight show with conan obrien in the comedy tent. he does it during the already awesome late night acts so that it wont be as crowded. he can feature comedians, musicians, or roo celebrities that might have performed that day.

jakicker, you're dead on and it's gonna be option 3. it's already been stated that he's performing in the comedy tent and as an MC on the What Stage. I think he'll be late night b/c it just makes sense. If he's in the afternoon, he'll be way too overcrowded.

Someone posted these highlights from Conan's first night of his stage show (from Aintitcool.com)
Some highlights: ** The Walker Texas Ranger Lever was rechristened "The Chuck Norris as a Rural Policeman Handle." Jack McBrayer (aka Kenneth the Page from "30 Rock") presented the last clip, which was the classic "Walker told me I have AIDS" clip starring Haley Joel Osment.
* My favorite quote from the night: "This is the first time anyone has paid to see me. They've paid me to go away..." -- Conan
* Conan listed his 8 stages of recovery after losing your talk show, which were:
Denial
Blame Myself
Blame Everyone Else Around Me
Anger
Paranoia
36 Hours of Red Bull and Halo
Buy Everything Amazon Says I would Also Like ("I bought a Team Edward thong!")
And finally... "Get your ASS to Eugene, Oregon!"
* Conan brought out the gigantic inflatable bat from one of Meat Loaf's tours. He commented that the bat looked WAY too happy.
* It appears Taco Bell and Lady Foot Locker are two tour sponsors, as walking models of their respective stores came out at one point.
* Triumph made a video clip appearance. It was mostly stuff about how he loved the local area, with crude voiceovers like "EUGENE OREGON" pasted in for comedic effect so they can use it for any city they visit.
* The band SPOON showed up and played a song.
* Conan said legally, noone can even look like him. Say goodbye, he said, to the Wendy's girl, Jimmy Neutron and Tilda Swinton (whose images were shown on the video screen).
* "The Tonight Show" writer Deon Cole did some fairly funny standup centered around him being black and enjoying being around SO many white people.
* Video clips of Conan dressed as a bald NBC executive stroking a white cat introducing new shows called "I'm a Celebrity, I Eat Bark" and "I'm a Celebrity, I Eat Aluminum Siding." This also ended the show, with the "executive" berating the audience to leave. I swear it lasted a good 5 minutes.
* Conan played the guitar A LOT, which was awesome. He sang and played guitar to song that "is pretty much bullshit" about growing up in an upper middle class family in Brookline, MA. He played a parody of "On the Road Again" with lyrics like,"Sleeping on a bus with 27 men, I'd sell my soul to have my own show again." His last song before the encore was his take on Cake's cover version of "I Will Survive," which included references to TBS and such. He also sang a song called "The Girl Who Looked like Conrad Bain," and had a cardboard cutout of Bain in the lobby with a suggestion box. He asked that people help him build the song along the tour by helping him come up with rhymes to words like "Bain" "Willis" and "Diff'rent Strokes."
* Conan ended the show with an encore doing a Rockabilly song called "Forty Days" wearing the rockabilly suit he wore a few times during those infamous writers strike episodes of "Late Night."
* There was more that happened (like Andy wearing a costume where his torso was a cowboy, and his lower body was a horse's body, while he sang) and a hilarious part where Conan asked the audience to have a one-on-one conversation with him by simultaneously reading responses on the video screen which encouraged him to then kiss LaBamba. When he asked us who wrote the responses... we all said, "LaBamba!" Pretty funny stuff.
One of my favorite parts came when trumpeter Mark Pender was singing one of his traditional warmup songs (for any of those who have been to a taping of Late Night or The Tonight Show) where he sings "BABY!!" and the audience repeats back "BABY!" in a call-and-response manner. Pender and I have been friends for a few years now (I interviewed him several years back when I was a feature editor at a small newspaper here in Oregon) and he managed to find me in the crowd (he knew I was there, but we hadn't had a chance to meet up) and put the mic right in my face for a "BABY!!" So cool.
All in all, any of you who have tickets this tour are in for a treat. My least favorite part was when the opening act, musician/comic/whatever Reggie Watts, took a good 50 mins doings some weird simultrack recordings, beatboxing, rapping, etc., that was kind of funny, but got pretty old after about 10 mins. I could have lived without it personally.
All in all, great show and a lot of love for Coco.
