going back to the thing wanting kanye to headline instead of jack...last year the white stripes were billed in certain newspapers and online articles saying that they were headlining, sure, they were headlining the second biggest stage on the last day, but the real headliners are the ones playing on the big stage, usually when very few acts are playing elsewhere in bonnaroo, look at last years schedule, there actually were acts playing during tool and the police, and look for the articles where it says the white stripes headlined last year online, you'll find them, i'm really thinking kanye is either a latenight act on which stage or maybe in franz ferdinands spot from last year, i think he could also be right before metallica, where the roots were last year, he could even be right before pearl jam and allman bros could be on the which stage at 6ish,but other than that i don't think he could fit anywhere else, a latenight tent spot would be too small, its either the what or which stage for him

four + of these bands better show up
claypool moe bisco p.groove mmw n.m.s.a./galactic infected mushroom sts9 q.o.t.s.a. cake/beastie boys daft punk mudcrutch Sum dj's and the dinosaur from the kraft mac and cheese commericals on nickelodeon
MMJ is defenetly one of the best live acts I've ever seen, and I will be seeing them regardless, but it BETTER be a late night set, I don't think they will open before Pearl Jam cause that's only an hour and a half slot and they really need 3+. At least I hope.
I agree with you and want to see them at night again. However, opening for Pearl Jam is exactly what they did at Lollapalooza last summer.
And the tour the year before that. Last year was a huge year for Jacket. Headlining Langerado and pre-headlining Lolla and ACL. I am almost betting this year will see MMJs debut on the main stage opening for Pearl Jam. Im just hoping we get some kids on stage with 'em.
Close your eyes. Picture a convict. What's he wearing? Nothing special, baseball cap on backwards, baggy pants... he says something ordinary like... 'yo, thats shizzle.' Okay. Now slowly open your eyes again. Who are you picturing? A black man? Wrong. That was a white woman. Surprised? Well, shame on you.

I saw Queens of the Stone Age open for NIN a couple years ago and both bands were terrible. It was hands down the worst show I've ever seen. The singer from qotsa kept talking between songs about how all he wanted to do was just kick somebody's ass. And then he was actually trying to pick a fight with some guy in the crowd. I went to see Ratdog a week later and it seemed like the best show ever after that garbage.

i saw queens of the stone age in san francisco in december, and they blew me away with how hard they rocked. i thought it was awesome and i'm sorry you did not enjoy them. its only a matter of time until q.o.t.s.a. play roo i think.
also i'm thinking john scofield or medeski scofield martin & wood is still a good possibility. scofield played with phil lesh in 06 and i think its a good possibilty lesh will bring him back with him.... and maybe roo will give him his own show. just speculating..

when i saw q.o.t.s.a. they fucking rocked! but the lead singer was pointing random people out of the crowd i've heard mixed emotions about their live performances.
jpbrez, im hoping that same thing happens at Grado. Phil Lesh and friends, MSMW, Mickey Hart band, and Gov't Mule all in the same place.
I check this message board pretty regularly, actually have been for the past few years. This will be my 5th consecutive bonnaroo this year, and despite what everyone has been saying, i think that it will be quite good. yes, the headliners are not what "we" are used to, however, i think it's a crock what people have been saying about pearl jam. i mean, saying that they are a "mtv" band??? are these people too young to remember that pearl jam's first 4 albums had a combined total of 4 music videos made, oh, and those were ALL off ten. secondly, i seem to remember pearl jam having quite the battle with ticketmaster....i think that they are a far cry from being an MTV band. i have seen them 4 times live and they put on quite a good show. metallica also puts on a good show, one of the jammier of the metal bands. they are touring right after bonnaroo, so i don't think that the festival will be overrun with metalheads. i don't think they will shell out 200+ to just see metallica, mastadon and the sword. lastly, i don't know if anyone else is thinking it, but jack johnson has NEVER headlined bonnaroo, despite playing there many times...anyone thinking superfly is just holding out the other headliner b/c they don't want tix to be sold out in 5 minutes...ie. zep? just high hopes, but anyways, the once a decade rant is over for now...can't wait to see you all in coffee county this year. bringing about 20 first timers with me, to continue my legacy. much love
oh, and anyone thinking that kanye west is headlining, i'm sorry, that's not happening, look at the lineup...he's obviously going to be playing a late night show with lupe fiasco and talib kweli. similar to what we've seen with common and lyrics born in the past.

I think the real question is what stage will his late night show be on. I feel a What Stage late night performance after Metallica Friday night coming...

I can't remember right now, but have they ever announced artists additions in the time period between the initial announcement and when tickets go on sale? It would make more sense to wait until the first tier of tickets is sold, then announce some bands to get people on the fence to buy tickets. Because they know the first level is going to sell out the first day pretty easily. Just a thought. I would think next week you will see Round 1.

In 2006 they announced Oysterhead and the Biscuits/UM show almost immediately after the initial announcement. I think it was all the jam band people bitching about the lack of jam bands that caused that though.

Does anyone know if they usually announce round 1 before or after tickets go on sale? I mean economically it would make sense for them to do it afterwards since that the true Rooers are getting their tickets regardless..

if The Mars Volta or QOTSA come to roo i will be one extremely happy man. QOTSA is my favorite band and TMV's new album is beyond amazing. *fingers crossed*
