I updated my mock. Now it is a full 101 act lineup. I also took out Gorillaz because I think out of U2, Drake, Arcade Fire, & Gorillaz, I see Gorillaz being the least likely. I also need some help with placement for a couple acts: Kygo, Tegan & Sara, Conor Oberst, AlunaGeorge, & Yo La Tengo. I'm also extremely interested in what you think is lacking in this lineup. I know I'm a little biased because of my music taste, so the EDM and other genres might be lacking. I will continually update this as more new albums are announced and some of these acts stop touring. I'm also working on a day by day lineup and a schedule.

You can take U2 out of any festival mock and it suddenly becomes more realistic. Drake - Arcade Fire - Avetts - Lorde is a deeply plausible '17 Roo set of headliners
Also if you're whining about Black Keys and 21 Pilots as headliners it's because you don't know how short the rock headliner deck is these days
Same goes for hip hop and EDM, you're not a festival headliner until after you've headlined a festival. Not a moment sooner
took the words right out of my mouth, sans U2 it's a reasonable list of acts. i could pick at the ordering but whatever.
it's also a boring list, with or without U2. the acts that I'd be genuinely excited for:
Drake Chance Future Hall & Oates Ryan Adams James Blake Schoolboy Q Umphreys Sturgill Savages
and some others in the "i'll check them out" categories. i like mocks like this because they keep my head straight in terms of expectations.

Remove U2 and it's a lineup that you could have caught at Lola or ACL this year. Realistic headliners for next year. Mid and upper card rely on a lot of who's touring now and not next year but you can't really predict that in August. A little strong based on this years undercard but that would apply to almost any decent to good lineup. A few people are too low but won't bust your balls for that.
Assuming there's at least some bounce back next year, this is a lineup on par with the other big 4 festivals. It would probably bring me back. Throw the national or the xx on there and it looks a lot better to me.

Like everyone else said, maybe no U2. Otherwise it's very plausible I think. Good work, especially going all the way thru with it
i've never been able to get into them but damn if the world at large doesn't love U2.
I did enjoy The Edge's parts in the "It Might Get Loud" documentary. helped me appreciate where he is coming from musically, but I still do not appreciate the actual music.
I'll probably get shit for this but as far as generic rock super bands go I actually really like U2. My dad was always playing Joshua Tree in the car growing up so that's part of it. I'd enjoy them more than most other old white guy options.
Old U2 was pretty okay. Then they tried to get interesting as they moved through the 90s and people weren't having that shit, so they gave up and became Feel Good Generic Anthem U2, which was okay for an album or two. Now they're just okay.
I will say, however, that as a "not really" U2 fan, I saw them live in like 2005 or so and it was mind-blowingly great. You'd have to be a super cynical and jaded piece of miserably depressed shit to not appreciate the spectacle they put on. It'd be like hating fireworks.
I couldn't agree more with everything juggs said. I also happened on a U2 concert (went with a friend who had an extra ticket, so why not) and left shocked. That's not to say I buy or listen to any of their (post-90s) albums, but those boys put on a hell of a show. I probably would've skipped out if I didn't just watch It Might Get Loud... The Edge won me over in that doc.

The Edge is tight, I listen to Streets Have No Name and I'm wowed. Up until where Bono starts singing and I'm cheezed
