I'm actually relieved I missed the voting deadline last month because it was way too hard. My vote probably would've gone to Sirens though. Bon Iver, Rostam + Leithauser, Solange, Nick Cave, and Jenny Hval were all excellent too.
Also Hiss Golden Messenger's new one is fantastic.
I basically made myself pick one. If I had done so at a different time that day, I might have picked a different album. Too many good albums that were really difficult to pit head to head.
This is exactly how I felt. If I had voted on a different day or even just at a different moment of that day, I very easily could've opted for Bon or Jaar or Angel instead. But Jenny was the right move at the moment I voted. Overall such a ridiculously solid month.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Heart like a levee is great.
If you're digging HGM, check out the Scott Hirsch album from last month. He plays on HGM albums and was in the touring band too. That album (blue rider songs) also features Phil cook and a tune written by Steve gunn.

If anyone wants to pm a link to the NxWorries album so I don't have to get Apple Music, I would appreciate it. I think the site on which I initially listened to it took it down.
Finally listening to that Jagwar Ma now. After reading what you guys were saying, I still had hope that I may like it. Now that it's here, it's truly heartbreaking.
Fingers crossed this translates better live but I'm not gonna hold my breath.
I'm going to update this later today once I finish my way through weeks one and two, but I really like this Julia Jacklin album.. Y'all know I'm a sucker for female singer songwriters that are either dream pop, synth pop, baroque pop, avant garde art pop, or alt country/indie folk. This one falls into the final category.
Update: I got busy so it may be this weekend before I really catch up on new albums. But the more I listen to this Julia Jacklin, the more I dig it. If you are a fan of Angel Olsen, Big Thief, Sara Watkins, or Patrick Watson, you'll probably really enjoy it.
My list for this month so far is Julia Jacklin, The Early Years, Phantogram, Katie Gately, Goat, Kelly Lee Owens, and a local New Orleans group called ROAR!
I don't love any of these albums, but they are all pretty good to decent. I truly hope something better comes out tomorrow.
Nothing has really grabbed me this month except Weyes Blood, and for some reason it's really making me regret not voting for Angel Olsen last month. I've been returning to that way more than Bon Iver the past few weeks. Anyway, I'm going on a roadtrip this weekend so I guess we'll see what makes it through the most.

I haven't really fallen too deeply in love with anything this year but I've not been on it as much. What are everyone's top albums of the year so far? I wonder if there is any hip hop that I've missed out on since I haven't been paying attention. Larry Farnsworth, help me out here.

Check out the Top Albums of 2016 thread. Also, go to the first page of this thread and you will see what albums got votes each month
Now that I've had time to better digest albums from 2016, this would be my votes for each month if I could redo them all:
January - Rihanna* February - DIIV* March - Ray Lamontagne April - Deakin May - Radiohead (although James Blake is super close second, especially after seeing him live) June - Blood Orange* July - Michael Kiwanuka August - Frank Ocean September - Angel Olsen
HM: American Football - American Football (LP2) Two Cow Garage - Brand New Flag Green Day - Revolution Radio Kings of Leon - Walls Two Door Cinema Club - Gameshow Naked Giants - R.I.P. (would have been my choice, but it's an EP.)
