there is still so much stuff going on during these songs. I love the string arrangements. there is a deliberate restraint to colin's bass that jars my expectations. more of a meditative and pensive listen, akin to king of limbs but with more of in rainbows feel.
2. adia victoria - beyond the bloodhounds. sounds like what I'd imagine if courtney barnett were raised on tent revivals and delta blues 3. kacy and clayton - strange country. traditional style folk (ie: not shitty banjo and "heys!") that doesn't sound dated. great finger picking and beautiful singing.
hm: some pretty rock albums twin peaks - sounds like the rolling stones as a punky garage band car seat headrest - this was just fun. I also really like pavement, and this is right out of that vein. mudcrutch - nothing spectacular, but a solid, straighforward rock n roll record.
kaytranada and tourist are pretty good too, but didn't really stand out all that much to me.
james blake was so gosh dang boring. I like his earlier albums quite a bit, but this one was just so tedious I couldn't stay interested.
Flume vs Radiohead was my hardest decision this month since Chance didn't do much for me. I also feel the same as a few of you re: James Blake- there're some glorious moments, but overall I think it's just too damn long and slow.
2. Radiohead - A Moon Shaped Pool 3. Islands - Taste 4. A Giant Dog - Pile 5. Nothing - Tired of Tomorrow 6. Chance the Rapper - Coloring Book 7. James Blake - The Colour in Anything
