Voting now as I leave in the morning. It's been a superb month, imo. I kept going back and forth between Bully and Hval. I've listened to Feels Like more but I think Apocalypse, girl will rank higher on my lists in years to come.
HM: Bully - Feels Like Vince Staples - Summertime '06 Miguel - Wildheart Goatsnake - Black Age Blues

Jamie xx - In Colour
HM. Sorority Noise- Joy, Departed. Didn't expect to enjoy this one as much as I did considering I wasn't a big fan of their previous material.
HM. Czarface- Every Hero Needs A Villain. Took me a couple listens to come around on this one. Thought it was too similar to Madvillain. The rapping is beyond dope and all of the features are pretty fuckin great.
HM Desaparecidos- Payola. Most of this rocks really hard and Oberst's lyrics are pretty awesome. There are a couple of duds on here though.
HM Son Lux- Bones- Nice change of pace from Lanterns. Couple of really great tracks and a few snoozers. I do find myself going back to this quite a bit
If I say that I don't get Jamie xx at all, how many tomatoes will be tossed my way? A lot? Good, I totally thought it was a solid runner-up this month
I'm not gonna throw tomatoes at you, but I do wonder: did you give it a full, undistracted listen? Like in a room, lights dimmed, outside noises muted, taking it in start to finish? There are just so manyyyy layers to that album; I feel like you need to give a listen like that before being able to truly form a judgment on it. But if it aint your style, thats okay too

No, I did not listen to it in those specific conditions but to be fair I've never listened to anything in those conditions.

That's fair. I think Juggs had a point when he said that it's one of those albums that people who don't like the genre will get into, but it's fair if you just don't care for the genre. I was going to be a lot more curious if you liked similar albums but not that one.

Fair enough, but if you have the chance, you should try listening to music like that every now and then. Being able to fully delve into an album can provide some interesting results. You'll pick up on things that you never noticed before, and like rummy said, discover the different layers present.
Genre. Though I'm afraid to say what the genre is for fear of getting in arguments and being out of my element.

Yes yes, definitely give this approach a shot. With both of my favorite albums of 2015 so far - Carrie and Lowell and In Colour - when I shut out the world for an hour and laid on my bed listening to them in entirety, I felt and observed 38247382 things that I think I might've otherwise missed by listening while distracted by other activities and/or thoughts. In Colour didn't make me full-out sob like C&L did (I honestly cried through the majority of that album when I listened for the first time with no distractions), but I felt pretty paralyzed - in a good way - by the depth and beauty of it.

I offer this suggestion because it is not my favorite genre and I didn't like it at first either... I recommend to skip the first track. I had a much better listening experience avoiding the first track of Jamie XX and My Morning Jacket's new albums. I didn't care for either opening song and loved both albums when skipping it.

I like Gosh but agree that Believe is terrible and screws with my enjoyment of the rest of the album.
