Here's the 2013 line-up separated by genre. If any applicable sub-genre applied to an act, I noted it next to the name in italics. I probably messed up on a few though, so please post any needed corrections and I'll update the OP. I'll also update the thread when additions get announced.

Very helpful list, makes it easier to wade into some of the more unknown artists for myself.
The only changes I might suggest would be maybe move Death Grips to punk? They're hard to classify, but in my mind, they lean a little more punk then hip hop. Either way, that's going to be a wild show! And maybe put Animal Collective in the Experimental/Psychedelic Rock category?
Did I mess up? Is Gov't Mule Seriously the only Jam Band?
Not to knock the genre or anything, but the evolution of the festival is just amazing to me.
You could just put them in the southern rock category really. It is amazing how the reggae and jamband scene has been completely weeded out the last couple years. 2 years without a single reggae act. Throw us a bone Bonnaroo! I blame Kanye
Fair enough. I think it might just be their live show that really screams punk to me. But that note definitely helps differentiate them from the more traditional hip hop. Thanks again.

Wait Mumford and Sons and Lumineers is hipster music? Wait til I tell my 65 year old mom that she's a hipster!

Yeah, my mom is way into half of those bands. She is definitely not a hipster.
I'm not a fan of classifying into broad genres and a couple of these I would have labeled differently, but this is much, much better than I ever would have thought someone could do with it. I like it a lot actually.

Once they play it on the Disney channel (I have a 10 yr old-we listen to alot of Disney channel) its no longer hipster music. You can put the first 3 bands here under pop/rock.

Hipsters may not like it, but it's definitely folk rock--usually put under the umbrella of indie folk although those three bands I probably wouldn't call "indie" anymore. Stylistically, it wouldn't fit right putting it in the pop/rock category where you would find modern rock bands like Foo Fighters or pop acts like Lady Gaga, even if their popularity is similar.
Not sure I'd say country though...I think of them more of a southwestern, Mexicali, desert blues. When I think alt country I think of Steve Earl or even the Avetts.
