Yes, the headliners at jazzfest play when the gotdamn sun is still out (5-7ish). There are night shows (and some late night / early morning shows) at every venue in the city for 11 or 12 days straight. They still have all the shows from this year up here: www.jazzfestgrids.com/ We'll start seeing this site being updated with 2013 shows in february-april.
^^^ Yes the best part of Jazzfest is the late night shows at outside venues.
The fest itself is a babyboomer cu$ty attraction.
yes, late shows are the epcot, but jazzfest for me is primarily about the fairgrounds. i love the crowd at jazzfest, but even more than that i love the foooooooddd. nothing beats chilling in my old person chair waiting for jon cleary or whoever the hell to come on while munching crawfish sushi and cochon de lait and quail, pheasant, and andoille gumbo and and grilled chicken livers with pepper jelly and crawfish monica and just getting fatter and fatter and sweating mmmmmm
I thought that I would add a note on the potential timeline for a jazzfest announcement. Something to watch for is not only a mid-January release for it but also the Verzon Blvd free Super Bowl concerts. It is being promoted by the jazz fest folks. I would expect some potential carryover from this year or past Jazz fests. Here is the link: neworleanssuperbowl.com/events/verizonboulevard.php

^^ I wish they'd go ahead and announce who's playing. Final Four tournament last year had three days of big free shows at Woldenburg. Fri- Kiss & whoever Sat- Meters>Blondie>Black Keys (had a blast at this, got sunburned though lol) Sun- whoever and Jimmy Buffet (w/ Sean Peyton on percussion lolololol)
