Never too early to start discussing the NFL season. The draft is only 2 1/2 weeks away. Right now I am hoping Fletcher Cox drops to the Panthers at #9 or Quinton Coples. I just hope they stay away from Dontari Poe. Anyways, discuss.
Nice Cammy Cam gif. I'm pumped, not only did the Giants win a superbowl, but freaking Jets got Tebow, meaning they'll be in the news all year, leaving the Giants to assume that lurking in the shadows role. I think they play so much better when media is not paying attention to them. Then they go and do somethig i had been saying for 2 years now and cut Brandon Jacobs! I am so happy they did this. Now we can focus on getting Prince Amukamara to be the secondary player he should be and pick up a good number 2 rb plus some more secondary, i'm liking next season already. Oh yeah and we're defending Champs quack yeah
As a collage town guy I follow the NFL from a distance. Mostly through my crimson colored glases. I am mainly hoping someone takes Trent Richardson who will feed him the ball about 25 times a game. Problem is I am not sure there is an NFL team that still gets a Stallion and rides it any more.

Yeah because good rbs are a dime a dozen. Plus, nowadays, a running backs life span in the nfl is super short. Most don't even make it to 7 years before their production goes way down. A rbs prime is 3-4 years.

Thats all true. This guy will be very special for those few years and a great guy for the in the city where he lands.
I am also interested (like many others) to see if Payton can be anything like he was.

Good running backs aren't a dime a dozen, it's just that teams have figured out giving a guy 325+ carries a year will kill him in a couple years, though there are obviously some exceptions. The average NFL running back's career is something like 2.5 years.
Almost every team has 2 good backs. They are a dime a dozen. Great running backs are a little more scarce, but rbs just aren't that important, so having a great back is not really necessary.

Will somebody pleeeeeease trade for our draft pick. There is no value for us at #10!
No value? Quinton Coples DT, Luke Kuechly LB, Michael Brockers DT, Michael Flyod WR, Courtney Upshaw LB. There are more too, but I don't feel like naming more. There is always value in a top 10 pick. The key is not miss on them when you have them.
Very glad to see the Panthers extended Steve Smiths contract. He wanted to be a Panther for his entire career and now he will. One of the Panther greats.

You guys showed so much promise at the beginning of last year. What the hell happened?!
Got ravaged by injuries:
QB played with injured ribs after their 5-2 start. MVP candidate RB, NFL's leader in yards from scrimmage to IR. Lost projected #2 WR in preseason, slot receiver in WK1, replacement #2 WR in November. Kicker to IR. Replacement kicker to IR. Center to IR. Had 3 different starting LT's due to injury. Pro Bowl NT to IR. Back up NT to IR. Pro Bowl OLB to IR. #1 CB injured on first play of season. (IR in November.)

There's no value for the Bills with a D-Line pick. They just invested $127M in two ends (Mario Williams and Mark Anderson), they have last year's #3 pick and Pro Bowler Kyle Williams in the middle. They have something like 15 defensive linemen on their current roster including Shawne Merriman, Chris Kelsay and 2010's 2nd rounder (Torell Troup).
They might go LB if they can find a 3-down player there but they're set at weak side (Nick Barnett - a 3-down player), they've got a 2nd yr player in the middle (Sheppard) and they just resigned Kirk Morrison to play the strong side. I know that there is a bit of buzz about Kuechly there, though.
They need a #2 WR and I'd love them to take Floyd but it's unlikely. They haven't had him in for a visit yet and virtually all of their draft choices with the current regime have been from southern schools.
They need a LT but the options seem to be pretty shaky - most seem to be projecting as RT's or LG's. They need a CB but the only value there might be Jenkins -- and he may implode at any time.
If they can't trade out of this spot they'll probably go with Riley Reiff or Cordy Glenn and hope that they work out as LT's.

And those were just the major injuries...
Yeah, it sucks when your team has those type of years. You guys gave that Fitzpatrick kid so much money though. That can't feel too good either.
I think Fitz will be fine. His rib injury happened his first game after the contract and played through it. Worst comes to worst, the contract was really front loaded with a clean out after the 13-14 season.
The city and his teammates love him. They'll rally behind him but he still needs more tools.
I'm still upset about the Bills last year. I picked up Fred Jackson in the 17th round of our draft and he was a 1st rounder every week. Still got second but I would have stayed undefeated if Freddy finished out the season.
So much for that whole championship belt last year...
And can someone beat the Giants, clearing the path for a Patriots Super Bowl win?
I don't know what you're talking about, the Packers won the Super Bowl in 2011...
As far as the Giants go I just can't see them as a favorite in the NFC. They were the best team in the conference the last 5-6 weeks of the season (including the postseason), but they're also the only Super Bowl winner in history with a negative point differential. The Packers are going to be the odds-on favorite. Not that that means anything obviously.
I was over a friend's house that night. He got obliterated during the game, and was a total wreck afterwards. He may have been contemplating suicide at one point, and his girlfriend was having to drag him around everywhere. Went out to a bar afterwards, I just went home - work the next morning and didn't want to see the brutality afterwards.
