I'm definitely not counting the Giants out, or denying that they'll be "in the mix", I just think that two other teams in the division will be in the mix too, and half the NFC is in the mix for a Wild Card spot. I love the Giants, they're my second-favorite team. My dad was close friends with former-Giant Dusty Zeigler, and I have a football signed by several members of the 2007 Super Bowl team. I think they'll have a winning record but miss the playoffs because of the intense schedule.
Edit: Oh, and I completely agree with whoever said the Titans could surprise this year. If Kenny Britt plays more than 2 games, and CJ2K looks half as good as he did a few years ago, then they're dangerous. Unfortunately, I think their Defense will regress with Cortland and Jones gone, but Jones played poorly in his new position last season anyway, and they have some decent, young cornerbacks who might step up.
All of this booing at the draft is really disappointing. Makes me think poorly of NYC sports fans when coupled with the recent booing of Jets players at sporting events.
Edit: I should clarify that in my head I know that there aren't just Jets & Giants fans there and there are some folks that have made the trip from outside of NYC. I'm just associating the behavior with the city.

Fans from every team are at Radio City right now. Fans are booing players being drafted to their rivals for the most part, and they're also booing each other. I've gone twice, it's just a cesspool.
I'm pretty happy with the Bills pick. Fills a need and the two of the other options I was pretty excited about were off the board. Didn't think that Gilmore would be available at 10 and the only other pick that would've excited me equally was Floyd.

Was really hoping McClellin would fall to the Packers. Surprised the Bears took him with their 4-3.
Also, I know I'm way behind and I'm not sure if anyone else is watching NFL Network's coverage, but Mike Mayock totally described the guy from West Virginia who went to the Seahawks as having "an explosive get-off." Wow.
After the first Jets loss, there will be an hour long Sportscenter Special on Tebow in New York, followed by a 30 pack of Coors Light Cold Hard Facts all regarding the NY quarterback "situation". Over the rest of the season, SC's headlining story will only involve Tebow and his most recent endeavors, and they will continue to assert that a .500 team's 40 YPG from the "Wildjet" is the most newsworthy topic of the day.
Just read somewhere that ESPN has said "Tebow" 14 times tonight, and the NFL Network has once.

I'm happy about the Jets epic fails over the years
The Pats traded up to take a guy who had 10 sacks in 3 seasons.
Quinton Coples is the stuff nightmares are made from. Seriously, have you seen his fraternity brands on his biceps? Those things scare the sh*t outta me.

Yeah, you just have to convince Quinton to play. Surely giving him a lot of money will give him some motivation, right?
Well, I was expecting the Seahawks to surprise people and maybe win the division this year, but I'm now convinced that Carroll has absolutely no clue what he's doing in the draft. I guess it will be the Cardinals who surprise people this year since they seem to be the only team in the division that knows how to draft. Rams turn the #2 overall pick into Michael Brockers and the 49er's take a 3rd Round WR. What a division.
Honestly though, I'm not upset by the Brockers pick. I'm just bitter that Arizona managed to steal Floyd out from under us. Hopefully we can get some quality out of our three high picks in the second round: Cordy Glenn, Alshon Jeffrey, Janoris Jenkins would be pretty nice...
Yeah, you just have to convince Quinton to play. Surely giving him a lot of money will give him some motivation, right?
See, I think he may have just gotten worn down by a toxic environment at UNC. He had 4 different position coaches, multiple coordinators and head coaches, friends/teammates suspended, asked to play out of position, and he never complained or got in trouble. I think a change of scenery will be great for him.
And yeah, money can't hurt.
Rams are set to stock up on players, can't believe they picked up those extra picks like that. Jeff Fisher worked the draft like a speed bag last night.

"If I'm a GM, I'm not taking him in the first round," NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock said recently. "I might not take him in the second round. ... [The] bust potential is high."
I'm not a Jets fan, but if I were I would be a little worried because of all the "bust" talk. Hopefully it was just a motivation issue due to everthing that was going on at UNC and he comes out looking like a beast for you guys.
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.

Mayock also had Chandler Jones as the #1 defensive prospect in the draft.

He had Claiborne, Kuechly, Barron and Gilmore ranked ahead Jones. I'm sure he has some kind of talent for the Patriots to trade up to grab him, when he was originally graded as a 3rd round pick.

Okung is a very good player when he's on the field. You certainly can't kill a draft for injury/health, but you also can't hold it up as a huge success yet. But Okung was a good pick at the time, and that point is conceded. But last year they took Carpenter, a 2nd/3rd round talent, in the 1st round. He played poorly throughout the season and never seemed to improve. They constantly had to give him support in pass-protection and isn't much better in run support and actually seemed to regress in that as the year went on. Now they take Bruce Irvin, a guy with 3rd round talent, and significant off-the-field issues. If the Seahawks wanted him, they could almost certainly have gotten him several rounds later. I literally haven't heard one good thing said about Irvin since the Seahawks took him there, and the consensus seems to be that he's an athlete playing football without much genuine talent for the game, but a lot of natural speed/athleticism. Sounds like an Al Davis pick to me.
My comment that they didn't seem to understand how to draft was based mostly off the most recent two first-round picks, which is where you're supposed to find your blue-chip players. I really don't know much of anything about the later round picks of the Seahawks, except that Moffit looked better than Carpenter most of the time, and actually seemed to improve throughout the season. If he's turning late-round picks into starters, then great, now he just needs to find good players in the first round.
Now don't get me wrong, I may have been slightly hyberbolic in my assessment, and I may still pick the Seahawks to win the division. I disagree with everyone who thinks Lynch will bust this year, and I think the Defense will play well (though it would be playing even better with a legitimate pass rusher like Melvin Ingram) and I think Flynn can be very good, especially if the receivers stay healthy. But Seattle has not had bad first round picks two years in a row, which is the quickest way to sink a franchise, just ask the Raiders and the Jaguars.

When I saw the Jets take him, I actually said, "That's a great place for him if they can get their locker-room troubles settled out. Nobody knows how to get the best out of defensive players like Rex." He can step into a great system without too much pressure and have a lot of support, I think he'll surprise people merely by not busting.
Also, I complain a bit because it's not exactly a "sexy" pick, but we did need DT help, and lineman are Fischer's specialty, so if Fischer likes this guy, I guess I'm sold. I can't wait for tonight though, with all of these draft picks we can finally start to fill the holes and add depth. And with 2 first rounders for the next two years, we can add some elite talent as well.
It may not be for a few years, but I think the Rams are back in business.

Same goes for Rex, believe it or not. He came up as a D-line coach, and he LOVES versatile inside-outside guys like Coples and Wilkerson (last year's #1 pick). Coples could be Julius Peppers-lite, or he could turn into Vernon Gholston. But he is saying all the right things and hopefully just needed to get the hell out of North Carolina.
There are a lotttttt of good players still available. Interested to see if yesterday's trading trend continues.
Since we're talking football, my bread-and-butter and what I writer about for fun, I'll interject here. You're both right, and you're both wrong.
Carpenter was putrid before his knee injury, and his worst 3 games were actually his last 3. He had a -25.3 overall rating on Pro Football Focus (a site that calculates the per/play + or - for every snap every player is on the field for), which would be 12th worst rating for every tackle in the league, and Carpenter only played 8 games.
As for Irvin, it's been confirmed the Jets would have taken him at 16th, so he definitely wasn't as much of a reach as everyone thinks.
I have no way of knowing this (obviously), but I think Ingram settles in as a "solid" pro, but nothing special.

Irvin is more than welcome to prove me wrong, and when he does I'll be more than happy to come here and admit it. Until then, I don't see it, and I stand by what I (and the stats, thanks flanzo!) have to say on Carpenter.
Of course you can always find value in later-picks, but I don't think any of the players the Seahawks took in those rounds have earned "superstar" status yet. Elite late-round picks are the exception, not the rule. Every now and then a Tom Brady or Marques Colston can be found in the late rounds, but often those are for developmental projects or depth.
And I guess the Bears could be a counter point, but Carimi can't be judged yet, Greg Olsen is a good Tight End (but Mike Martz refuses to use Tight Ends), and most of the rest of their first round-picks they traded away. Benson was a stinker, but Brian Urlacher sure isn't.

Kam Chanellor is great. Seahawks have always had good Run Defense throughout the years, but with Kam, Earl Thomas, Richard Sherman, and Brandon Browner all in the secondary now, their secondary was the reason I was tempted to call them being able to upset the 49er's this season. Of course, I might look good at safety if you gave me that kind of support.
If Irvin or Carpenter can prove themselves I'll eat my words, but until then I stand by my assessment. Irvin gives me the same feeling as Poe.
