I had a similar situation at Bisco during Death From Above 1979. The dude next to me kept on talking about how all he wanted to hear was "Romantic Rights". It's like, obviously they're gonna play it, just be patient. But no, he had to scream "ROMANTIC RIGHTS" every five seconds. Kind of ruined that set for me.
i would've punched that kid in the face
i was very close. why can't bonnaroo get DFA1979, come on.
2012 shows: 3/23 - The Men 4/9 - Of Monsters & Men 4/21 - Bassnectar 5/2 - Shpongle 5/22 - Jack White 6/1 - tUnE-yArDs 6/7-6/10 - Bonnaroo 2012 6/18 - Destroyer 6/20 - The Tallest Man On Earth 6/23-6/24 - Governor's Ball
One encore is fine. At this points its a concert tradition. Two is just egotistical. Plus in the time they take to get off stage let everyone scream and yell for a bit and then get back on stage they could play another song.

So are you saying if you're the audience at a Radiohead show you'll leave after the first encore? ;D
I've seen bands schedule two encores (written on the setlist) but not do them. Sometimes it's a time issue, sometimes they weren't feeling the audience/crowd.
It's easy to say that it's egotistical or dumb or whatever people think about it. It does seem silly. But I know if I'm in the audience of a kickass show and the band does two encores, more often than not I'm going nuts and loving every minute of it.
Multiple encores can be great if it isn't expected. I won't complain about RH playing any extra songs though.
Jeff came out for a 2nd encore at the last Athens show (one of the few times this tour) and covered Isadora Duncan by Vic Chestnutt. Shit was mindblowing.

If it's planned I can see it being egotistical. If it's not and they hear the crowd and they're like, "We have to go back out there and give them more," then that's fvcking awesome.
No I wouldn't leave but I still think it is egotistical.
My Morning Jacket did a double-encore when I saw them here. Is it off putting for you then? I don't mean for that to be rhetorical I'm just curious.
Absolutely, I was very surprised when they did it it goes against their usually humble stage persona. Do you know if they planned the second encore or was it a reaction to a particularly good crowd? That would make it a little better than Radiohead who had the double encore written on the setlist.

I think it was planned, but they played the first encore, sprinted off the stage for 10 seconds, then sprinted right back and played One Big Holiday. Not sure if they did it in sort of a joking way or had planned on a longer second "break" and were running out of time.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

I'm sorry guys, I've tried...but I just cant get into Radiohead. Its all so...slow and calm if that makes sense. I dont understand how that translates into "omgz the best live touring band ever!!!1" in person. I see myself literally sitting down for this entire set.

Jonny Greenwood.
The camera man pisses me off in this though. The man starts playing a fucking ondes Martenot 15 feet in front of you and you turn the camera away from him and put it on Thom Yorke crooning on a piano
Still this is incredible and shows how unbelievable of a musician Jonny Greenwood is

At some point, the beneficent spirit of Jim James will toe-jab you firmly in your ballzak and whisper:
"Stand up and and dance crazy now. This is The National Anthem."

Start with The Bends, if you don't see anything of value then they may not be for you. If you see something, progress in order and proceed to have your mind blown!

First time Inforoo poster. First time at ROO! will be this year.
But I have been listening to radiohead for a very long time. you have to start with OK Computer if you are just getting into them. Then go proceed from there thru the the rest of there catalog. OKC will help you understand where Thom was going musically.

I don't care how many encores anyone does. I figure if I'm still around after the shows "done" I must be impressed so of course I want to see more. You dont have to stay for the second song if you dont like the band so it seems silly to start disliking them when they start playing what seems like an extended set. Also I don't feel like ive ever seen an encore I didn't earn by being or at least trying to be the loudest person in the audience so I always appreciate their return to the stage.
