I guess I'm gonna have to give it another listen because I def thought it was over rated crap when I first bought it. But I was only into jam bands ten years ago.

^^Is This It is far and away my favorite Strokes album. There's definitely some great stuff on there. I don't like the other two albums they've put out since, but their first album is quintessential early 2000s garage rock revivial.
For the Strokes, I think of them re-inventing the Velvet Underground sound more than the Beatles. The Strokes never got close to creating the type of innovative and diverse sounds that the Beatles did from Rubber Soul onward.
Rather, I think the Strokes took the garage band-esque, distortion sound that the Velvet Underground had.
Your fighting, strictly based on opinion is so entertaining, and for that I thank you.
How is it strictly based on opinion? Explain, please. I don't get that.
To speak on his behalf, it seems like what he is saying is fairly straightforward. People are arguing based on their opinions of lineup since it is an opinion based matter.

The bottom line is the main reason they were so huge is their nostalgic sound. Britt Daniels just made a stupid, sarcastic remark that didn't work at all.
One of coolest music videos. Cant wait to see them at Bonnaroo
wow. just wow.
every time I think the band can't make a new video that impresses me they go and blow me away. I liked the original video for this song with the marching band but this one is just amazing. Really cool stuff there.
I've wanted to see the Strokes for many years now, would easily be the top headliner at Bonnaroo if they were there, oh well Bonnaroo hasn't been about the headliners for me too much, last year I only saw 1 full headliner set and this year I'll probably see two (Jay-z and Stevie).

Forgive me if I'm being ignorant, but I hear VU not WtB and PPM in Is This It? I was being sarcastic because I thought it was kinda ridiculous. It's kinda similar to how people hear Brian Wilson in every indie pop band..
Odds of Band of Horses being added? Just announced an album out in May, as well as a gap in their 'tour-heavy' summer right around the time of Roo. Would be outstanding if they were an addition.

The Strokes will never be the top act on a Bonnaroo lineup.

Yes, please! I only caught a few wonderful moments of their set before my roommate and I had to start back to BFE and get ready to drive home. I would love to catch a full set after tragically havin' to leave (I had to work the next afternoon).
yeah, you really can't argue with Is This It. brilliant album

Great Video! I can't wait to see these guys this summer. I saw Nickel Creek a couple of years back and have been waiting for a chance to see Chris again.
Also Is This It is a great album. By far my favorite of their catalog.
Jumpin in late on the Strokes talk... Is This It is easily one of my favorite albums of the last decade, Room On Fire has some good stuff but overall isn't that great, and the last one only had a few decent songs on it. Still love Is This It, though... listen to it to this very day.
Julian's voice was great... still is very good, but early on it was the best. I've always heard this distinct combination of influences in Strokes music ; Lou Reed, Jonathan Richman/Modern Lovers, and Television.

Oh wow, I didn't realize Chris Thile was apart of Punch Brothers. Definitely going to check them out now since I love his solo and Nickel Creek work! Thanks!

I would hope at least one of these acts could get a late night. Umphreys would be my hope, but I could definitely see Ween or Galactic getting a similar slot.
Love the additions. Now all they need is one more solid headliner (Jay-Z is the only one they have right now) and a single tier-1 jamband (NO! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DMB IS NOT A JAMBAND NOR ARE THEY TIER-1) like Furthur or The Allmans. It's disappointing because I really feel that the undercard of this festival is one of the best its ever had but I'm only mildly interested in the top 6-7 artists on the lineup whereas other years have completely blown me away. Don't let me down Bonnaroo, I still want to go but you haven't reeled me in yet.
