Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Rolling Stone rated them the 3rd top live band out there right now?
That magazine went to shit about 15 years ago.
I will admit, the more I look at the line-up the more I'm not so upset. It'd be nice to throw a giant anti-Metallica party in the campgrounds during their set.
im really shocked at how dissapointed some you are, especially when we know alot more is coming. 2 acts are gonna ruin your good times???
"kanye west and metallica at bonnaroo", try saying it OUTLOUD its alot worse.
I have. I read the entire lineup out loud off my phone, twice, excitedly, to all my equally enthusiastic friends. And I didn't have a problem saying "Pearl Jam, Metallica, Jack Johnson, Kanye West" all in a row.
No, I'm not going to bother seeing most of those acts. I don't dig Pearl Jam, I kinda hate Metallica, and I'm not a bro. I respect Kanye and hear he puts on an excellent live show. And I'm extremely excited about a number of the smaller acts.
We need to look past the headliners and take a look about what Bonnaroo is, or at least should be, about. Having a good time the whole weekend.

aside from metallica, kanye west, and jack johnson, i'm quite excited.
i mean... my morning jacket, bb king, sigur ros, m.i.a., iron & wine, broken social scene, yonder mountain string band, !!!, the avett brothers........... i could go on and on.

oh yea... there's more positive coming out of these headliners: more time to sleep!
i was soooo tired last year by the time i saw the flaming lips, considering i never slept past like... 7. now i can get to sleep earlier and be well rested for the next day!

Hopefully the regular Bonnaroo folk can get their tickets before the mad rush of Pearl Jam fans and Metallica fans snatch them up. This whole thing about "30 bands" are still to be announced is cute but that doesn't resolve the fact that when you have a festival headlined by Kanye, Pearl Jam, and Metallica... you are going to attract a very different kind of ticket buyer than you have in the past when you had Trey and Friends, The Dead, and Neil Young as your headliners.
Bonnaroo is NOT so much about the lineup but about the atmosphere and I noticed a huge change in the atmosphere between '03 (my first year) to last year... and I fear that we're about to see it's biggest change so far.

Ungrateful??? Did I miss something? Is this a free show put on from the kindness of people's hearts or are they charging $210 to get in?? Either way, my day is not ruined for the beauty of the year 2008 is that every 2 weeks there is a major music festival being held.
This is a great time to be a fan of live music and great people in the US because there are so many festivals that carry the Bonnaroo spirit and just not the the Bonnaroo logo.

does anyone agree with me that Langerado is this year's roo?
To some extent. I think there are a lot of festival's that will be very Roo-ish besides Langerado. I think Wakarusa (as always) has a nice lineup although tough security. Camp Bisco has yet to announce it's lineup but if it's anything like last year... there will definitely be an early Bonnaroo vibe going on. And you also have the 10K lakes fest which should have a nice jam band feel to it.
Beastie Boys • • Phil Lesh & Friends • 311 • Matisyahu • Thievery Corporation • The Roots • Gov't Mule • Ani DiFranco • Ben Folds • G. Love & Special Sauce • Medeski, Scofield, Martin & Wood • Built to Spill • The National • Les Claypool • Umphrey's McGee • The Disco Biscuits • Keller Williams • Mickey Hart Band • STS9 (Sound Tribe Sector 9) • of Montreal • Robert Randolph & the Family Band • The Wailers • funky Meters • Citizen Cope • Antibalas • !!! • Dark Star Orchestra • Ozomatli • • Ghostland Observatory • Arrested Development • Blind Melon • Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars • The New Deal • Benevento Russo Duo • Perpetual Groove • Railroad Earth • Martin Sexton • The Avett Brothers • Grace Potter and the Nocturnals • The Walkmen • Dr. Dog • Indigenous • State Radio • Vampire Weekend • The Bad Plus • The Felice Brothers • Pelican • Yard Dogs Road Show • Brett Dennen • Earl Greyhound • The New Mastersounds • Dan Deacon • Josh Ritter • Pete Francis • Ryan Shaw • Blitzen Trapper • matt pond PA • The Dynamites feat. Charles Walker • Bassnectar • Balkan Beat Box • The Lee Boys • Shout Out Louds • Golem • The Wood Brothers • Busdriver • RAQ • Will Hoge • Spam Allstars • Phix • American Babies • Dead Confederate • The Heavy Pets • Backyard Tire Fire • The Postmarks • Steel Train • Hoots and Hellmouth • Jonah Smith • Pnuma Trio • Awesome New Republic • That 1 Guy • Trevor Hall • American Bang • School of Rock All-Stars •
seems like more of the original vibe at Lang than the "MTV" (or whatever people are calling this lineup).

With free Napster t-shirts for everyone!
this is my attitude. why get pissed about it when we can use the time for partying with beer that doesnt cost 6 bucks. i am very much for this party, we should organize this.
im pretty stoked about the lineup actually, now that ive been browsing it. there will be a lot of really good up and coming bands, with some classics, like pearl jam, where ill just get a nice spot in the back and enjoy on a blanket.
I wish I had so few problems in my life to allow my day to be ruined over something as trivial as a band I don't like playing at a festival I do like.
Perspective, people. I thought hippies were all about peace, love and universal whatever.
Maybe your jam band festival is no longer what it used to be. So what? Just look at what happened to Haight-Ashbury for god's sake. You'll find something else.
Oh, yeah, smite me, you jackasses. Bring it. I want negative karma from all the jam band snobs for pointing out that there are worse things in life than WAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH A HEAVY METAL BAND AT MY PRECIOUS FESTIVAL THAT'S FOR ME AND ONLY THOSE WHO AGREE WITH ME!!!!

i definitely think langerado has a better lineup...i wouldnt be so disappointed if it wasnt for the fact that we have garbage bands playing the longest sets (well actually metallica is the only garbage, i respect pearl jam even if im not a huge fan...jack johnson...well hes just blah to me) and bands that DESERVE the long set and big stage like lesh and the allman brothers are gonna be playing sets that are half as long...i mean...the lineup would like WAAAAYYYY better if it was...pearl jam, phil, the allman brothers listed first...with metallica, jj, etc listed after...

WOah dudes! lets just chill out here for a second. this is bonnaroo, you are the vibe. ive been to a fair amount of metal shows and metal fans arent as crazy as you think they are any more. those kids that freak you out are not into metallica, i doubt there will be the death metal black metal marilyn manson crowd. most of them are pretty chill dudes who like to drink and listen to some quaility alternative music. there is a lot of musicality in an act like mastodon. that scene chages just like the jamband scene. everyone into metallica is alot older now.

Crap = obnoxious behavior over other people expressing themselves; a general lack of consideration for others in the community.
Karma means jack all... it's a token symbol of social proof in a community. If someone disagrees with you, but doesn't feel like getting into a flamewar, smite 'em. Not my cuppa, but hey, if it works for you, so be it.
Losing karma only hurts if you let it. If your feelings have been hurt (and, frankly, your actions betray you, jimmy), getting offensive over it is loutish and contributes nothing to the community.

Just my 2 cents.
Thanks for the ethics lesson. I guess I'm just not complaining about the right things.

It's not what you choose to express, but how you choose to express it.
I could have responded to you using expletives. I didn't. I could have insulted your musical tastes. I didn't. I could have goaded you with pithy sayings or LOLcats. I didn't. I could have USED LOTS OF CAPS AND EXCLAMATION POINTS!!!!!! I didn't.
I was able to express a point without taking any sort of macho meathead stance. If you can't see the difference, I'm sorry. For you.

All the people on the board bitching about the line-up are just as bad as the "meatheads" they claim to hate/fear so much. If everything about this year is negative to you, then why not turn your focus on something positive and leave those of us excited to have a good time to ourselves.
Sorry, I didn't express myself very well. There are some really negative posts about the lineup. I just don't understand how people can get so angry about something so small in the overall scheme of things. I'm not crazy about the headliners, but there are some truly awesome bands on the lineup.
Perhaps what I should have said is that we should all be grateful we have the luxury -- because that is what it is -- of voicing our opinions about a music festival and be a little less vehement about it. Make sense?

No one is being forced to go, and everyone is more than welcome to start their own festival with the acts they want to see.
thats like saying "divorce you're wife cause she's old and fat"
right?
No. Bonnaroo is offering a concert festival at a price. If you don't feel that the line-up is worth the price, don't go. Why would anyone feel like they HAVE to go, just because they've been to Roo every other year? All things come to an end, and a music festival certainly isn't as serious or compromise-oriented as a marriage.
