I really am feeling the love for everyone tonight. We're all a little disappointed but there's no reason that we can't go have a good-ass time and make this the best Roo ever. Let's all remember not to judge people based on their appearances and instead judge them on how they treat others; everyone has something to offer! Peace of mind, calmness of soul, and control of body is what I wish for you tonight!

there are a few bands im excited about, but im eagerly anticipating the next few, if you look from this years to last years artists page last years is so much longer. i really hope there are some sexy jems hidden in the second wave.
I hope a different fest appears out of left field that has more love. I don't want to see fights and stupid shit. People getting ripped off and what not. The Dead need to play 4 nights somewhere that would help me to forget that bonnaroo sucks now. And all you peal jam MTV lovin kids can go see kanye west Jack Johnson and washed up Robert Plant without zeppelin for $300.

Dude yerr just full of the good vide right now ha
Bonnaroo is getting closer... I can smell it... dirty, pungent, and fully of joy
hopefully phil will get the lips spot last year...and hopefully there will be some surprises with what friends he brings along. DSO as well??? There will be a pretty awesome dead fix this year
Long time lurker, first post. I enjoy reading the boards, but I can't help but comment on this.
Granted there are still some great bands in this lineup, but you have to be kidding me with the headliners? What is this, 1990? I've been to every Roo, and my friends and I were saying last year how commercial it had gotten, and actually JOKINGLY said Metallica would headline...Thank you MTV for ruining what was once the greatest festival in the US.
And those of you saying "Chill there's so much more to come LOL"
They basically said not to get excited, because they're further along with the lineup then ever, and they don't really plan on any big lineup news.
Of course, with their idea of big headliner news, maybe that's a good thing. For the first time in 6 years, I will not be headed to Manchester, TN this summer. Enjoy moshing with the teeny-boppers and roasting marshmellows on the burning farm.
Thats a good thing. If I wasn't happy with who's playing, I would not go either. Although, I am not the authority to declare a music festival "ruined".

Am I really going to be the first person to post who actually respects some of Kanye's work?
No, I'm with you. I love Kanye West's music. He's a genius at word play. He's a poet. You might not recognize that listening to "Gold Digger" or the Slow jamz song, but you also won't recognize the genius of your jam bands by listening to the singles they release, will you? You've got to look a little deeper to enjoy the genius of jam bands, even the real great work of the Beatles, Wilco, MMJ, etc. The best music is not always on the surface. Kanye West is the same way.
"We buy our way out of jail but we can't buy freedom. We buy a lot of clothes but we don't really need them. Things we buy to cover up what's inside. Cause they made us hate ourselves and love their wealth. That's why shorties holla 'Where the ballas at?!'"
That's good stuff, some good insight. He's more than just flashy clothes and a huge ego. If you don't look a little deeper you'll miss out.
My 2cents: Metallica? What are they thinking? Sadly, in year 7, I don't know what the marketing machine that is roo is thinking. I recall sitting in the Napster tent in '06 - got the T shirt. I guess I'm bringing it with me this year I don't even think I know one Kanye West song. But, then again, I might just be an old fart. Or the Superfly guys have done some target audience analysis that I am not privvy to, or they've all lost their minds, or they had to scramble like heck without Zep. Who knows?
Having said that, there are enough bands I'm interested in to still go happily because Roo is, in fact what you make it. I'll hold out for a Les/Primus announcement and hope like hell they break up the PJ/Metallica thing with Phil on Saturday night. If Metallica closes roo down, I get a 12 hour head start on getting home, or a four hour nap before late night if they are Saturday's headliner. Live and let live. Phil, Gogol Bordello, Avett Bros, Bela Fleck, Robert Plant, Robert Randolph, UM, Allmans, MMJ, DSO - as long as they don't play at the same time, I consider this lineup one where I won't have a lot of conflicts.

I wish I had so few problems in my life to allow my day to be ruined over something as trivial as a band I don't like playing at a festival I do like.
Perspective, people. I thought hippies were all about peace, love and universal whatever.
Maybe your jam band festival is no longer what it used to be. So what? Just look at what happened to Haight-Ashbury for god's sake. You'll find something else.
Metallica plays on Friday; fine - 8pm naptime - see, we can adapt and overcome! "If past history was all there was to the game, the richest people would be librarians" Warren Buffet
I don't understand why people keep referencing pearl jam as something that was long ago...their last cd came out like 2 years ago? and Eddie Vedder just put out a solo album. They're very much a presence and still sell out major arenas. Rolling Stone rated them the 3rd top live band out there right now. Give them a chance!

I can't believe how much negativity there is on here either... We lost our jam-band hippie fest.. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH.
Granted, I'm new to Inforoo, and I've only been to one Bonnaroo (2007) and "I don't know the true meaning of Bonnaroo"... but its less then 10 years old. I mean this is not a long-standing pillar like say, Christianity. Does Metallica suck? yeah. Should Kanye West be at Bonnaroo? Probably not. But you know what, its the patrons that make Bonnaroo what it is. That's the primary reason that I was so interested in it to begin with. And a huge positive amongst all of the negative chatter is there is a little something there for EVERYONE (with more acts to be announced no less).
I mean, think of the diversity of who is going to be there, bands and fans. I think it's going to be awesome and I am really pumped about it : ) Besides, why on earth would you want to have 76 bands in 4 days that you want to see at one festival? Variety is nice, it brings all kinds of people... and there is a little something for EVERYONE to look forward to.
