Okay... I have to say getting the Roo Activity email tonight doesn't give me much faith- usually that means no artist announcements this week and if the bootleg site of Pearl Jam goes up with no Roo mentioned, I'm thinking that hunch is tainted.

omg, this was the greatest concert i ahve ever been to! they played for OVER THREE HOURS! jammed out msot fo the songs and just rocked. it made me the happiest boy ever. they are bringing back a lot of the old stuff too which is nice. porch was amazing! the onyl reason they played rats was because they were in the pepsi arena in albany NY (they home of the river rats) and eddie was talkin about the home team, haha. it was phenominal. if they geta dded to roo i wil sh*t over everythign ever

thats a great setlist...my buddy had his bachelor party last night and went to that show..his favorite song is Off He Goes..It's pretty cool to see that they played that.
But consider the asses they've been stapled to... Here I'm thinking of Scott Stapp's ass. In a purely platonic manner.
I'm not sure I know what that means. I know your not comparing Pearl Jam to Creed. One is led by a genius songwriter/musician, the other is led by a pseudo-wannabe christian clown. Saying Pearl Jam is overrated is like saying that Creed is underrated. What's the beef? I don't think anyone could go to one of thier shows and not have a good time. Time will tell, but they could wind up being our generation's Zeppelin. But yeah, I guess they are kinda "overrated". If by overrated you mean friggin awesome.

overrated
wow, i guess to each his own...but you have got to be kidding me.
in the last 25 years american band that comes close (imo) is phish.
they are everything you could want from a band.
-a lot of great material (i guess this could be debated, not everyone "gets" the whole eddie thing)
-ABSOLUTELY GREAT live show. (if you have seen them, this most certainly can not be debated)
-integrity - (i.e. ticketmaster)
- they actually SAY something- a lot of thier stuff (especially more recent material, has been very politically charged).
-treat thier fans great - (tons of fan club releases, shows, cheaper tickets, free stuff)
sorry about the rant..but if anything PJ is underrated because some people just like to hate on eddie. so i had to argue a little (although this board seems to have a lot of PJ fans on it.)
but if you are not into them, thats cool. i hope even more now that they play roo (although its not looking good now.) b/c i am almost positive if you have never seen them and are not really into them or think they are overrated, they will win you over with their live show.
(see what happens when people say somthing about PJ, i get all worked up. i wish i could control it.)

haha good rant, tumbs up. you will be very happy when you see pearl ajm this tour, their new material live is amazing, and they're palying a lot fo their old stuff too. also mike lsot a lot of weight so now he running around and jumping on amps, and i'm almost possitive he quite smoking cuz he didn't light up a cig troughout the entire show.

Alright this is gunna be my last comment on this... Our generations Zepplin? Phish the only band in 25 years that comes close to PJ?? Sounds pretty over rated to me... Just my 2 cents...
Sorry i wasnt trying to push buttons, they definately will become a classic band of our time, im not denying that for a bit...
Saying Pearl Jam is overrated is like saying that Creed is underrated.
Actually, it's more like saying Pearl Jam is overrated . Can their shows not be fun but the music be overrated at the same time? I had a great time at the one show I went to, but wouldn't go again. They take great care of their fans, few bands can put on such long shows, especially as they are getting up there... not acting their age. But making any zepplin comparison is ridiculous. Zep pioneered a NEW field of music, Pearl Jam is just a throwback to that era, not pioneering at all. If anything, the opposite. It's all a matter of opinion just like anything else, to a fan they can never be overrated, and many don't rate them highly to begin with (cough pitchfork). But for American rock bands, I prefer bands that salvage the good parts of roots rock and maintain a cutting edge like Wilco over a band that blisters through ordinary riff by numbers, orderly pentatonic solo-break-here songs. But saying they are overrated certainly is no more ridiculous than saying they are this gen's zeppelin, I've met many a hardcore fan who concedes that. I do hope they are added to Roo, but the likelihood seems about zero at this point to me.

I'm not a Pearl Jam fan, but I will say one thing: They were 10x better than Nirvana. They should be the ones getting worshipped by mallkids. =P
YES. YES. And YES. I completely agree....if any band is overrated it is Nirvana.
Nirvana is actually one of the worst bands from the grunge scene. >.< They had a couple good songs, but not many. Give me Pixies! Give me Sonic Youth! Give me Jesus Lizard! Just spare me of another Kurt Cobain sob song.
I wasn't trying to compare Zeppelin and Pearl Jam. Obviously Zeppelin was alot more ground breaking because of the time they came about. It's alot harder for a band to be "ground breaking" today, because everything's already been done. Every band is gonna recycle certain things. But Pearl Jam keeps it fresh. I think thier new album proves that. Thier last one, not-so-much. All I was trying to say was Pearl Jam will be remembered, and played on classic rock radio in the future, in the same way that Zeppelin is today. It was just an analogy. And I don't like people picking on PJ.

Fair 'nuff, I haven't heard the new album but I thought riot act was terrible... I agree that you don't see as many groundbreaking ROCK artists because the foundations of rock are pretty much laid, but I wouldnt say everythings been DONE... I wouldnt want to live in that world, there are still many bands doing very exciting and new things (ex. radiohead). Sure they recycle as well, but led zepp recycled muddy waters and howlin wolf... it's not like the time for innovation was then and now all we can hope for is fresh takes on old styles - and thats all I see pearl jam as: fantastic entertainment, and some healthy ol' fashion rock 'n roll, but not much more... when I want to wrap my head around some exciting new music, they don't do it for me. But bring 'em on, the more the merrier as far as 'roo goes

The Smashing Pumpkins HAVE to be in that discussion as well.

pearl jam have outlasted grunge, and are a kick ass rock and roll band. nobody lieks everything so of course some people are going to dislike them, but nobody can say they are a bad band, because they play well wiht tremendous energy and treat their fans well. so if their nto your cup of tea then fine, and if they are then thats cool too. personally i love them and think they are a amazing straight up rock band in world where bands write for the radio, not the only their are many more incl. the black crowes, and its nice to see that
