question. I know this has been talked about before, but I'm seriously torn about bringing my Rebel with me. I feel like if I don't bring it I'll seriously regret it. I have a good camera case for it, and I will keep it in my car if I decide to get... 'crazy '
While my camera is not nearly as nice as yours, I'm still planning on taking my more fancy one. I have a 400 dollar HP camera and a cheapie 99 dollar one that I took last year when it was all I had.
Of course, it's easier to say I'll take my expensive one since it can stay safely in one of the pockets in my cargo pants packed away in its case without causing me any problems. I took lots of great pictures with my cheapie last year, but many could have been a lot better with the capability to really zoom in. I'm looking forward to getting better shots this year.
I’m bringing my D70s and it’s more intimidating looking than your Cannon. Putting it in a lowepro dryzone backpack to keep it safe. If worse comes to worse I’ll just never take it into centerroo but I’ve seen people with video cameras in there so it shouldn’t be a problem. I’m not using the photos for anything commercial or selling any of them and I think that’s why they made the stupid rule. Either that or they just want control over all the good photos taken. Why did you guys make that rule? If I knew I was hurting someone I might be a little more sympathetic and leave it at home.

My D70 is coming with me this year -- not for any commercial usage, just memories. I can't help that it has interchangeable lenses, it's just my camera.

ive been wondering the same thing. ours is a minolta slr film camera, and i think that i am going to take a chance and bring it anyway. if i have to take it back to the car, oh well. i am just worried about keeping up with it, but the pictures are always worth it.

I'm planning on taking my Rebel as well. Just bought another 2 gig CF card to make sure I have enough room.
Bringing it with the 50mm 1.8, so if something happens to the lens, it is not in any way a big deal. On that note, you guys need to ditch the kit lens! That thing is the spawn of satan!
I am looking forward to taking a lot of good pics. I will be bringing my Canon S1 IS with a 2x zoom add on. I can zoom in pretty good and will be able to get some great shots of all the bands.
My concern is mostly the heat. I want to bring my dslr, but i don't want it to overheat if I need to leave it in the car. I was considering plastic bagging it and putting it in a cooler with ice (in the car) when not in use. it would really be a bummer to bring it, have to worry about it, and be told not to use it. On the other hand, it would really really enhance my enjoyment of roo if I had it with me! Aaargh...any more thoughts?

I almost bought a new digital camera today when i realized...well all my friends have cameras...i'll let those suckas do all the work and take all the pictures. i'll just point at something and say "hey thats really funny...someone take a pic!"....i think its a sweet plan at least.
Absolutely. The newest cameras have serious processor chips inside, not to mention very delicate image sensors. I wouldn't worry about walking around with it, but if you stick it in your car or trunk in 90 degree heat, it's may not make it out.
I'm less concerned with point and shoot digicams than I am with dslrs (aside from price), so I think that's what I'm gonna bring. Though, I will definatley miss my KM 7D!!
