Unfortunately most my friends are either to cheap or dont share my musical.. interests. So im going up solo for my very first time. I tried finding someone to carpool or something but I dont think thats gonna work out, apparently others arnt as willing to ride up with a complete stranger...who woulda thought . So I really have no idea what to expect. I have done alot of reading but havent quite got all the info I was lookin for. So far I know to bring about 200-300$ for random expenses. Some legal and some not so much. Bringing comfortable shoes (flipflops and old sneakers for me). Gallons upon gallons of water, baby wipes, and alot of food and what not that doesnt need to be kept cold. However I do have a few questions. Sorry for the long post but I gotta be prepaired ^_~. 1. Do you park next to your tent, and how much room do you get? Do you have a designated camping area or do you just fend for yourself. Open to suggestions for good places to set up camp. What about campfires? I love fire... and if im camping... I want to have one. I know its hot but its good times around campfires. What are the rules on this? 2. Obviously smoking should be kept on the downlow but can you just walk around, take a nice lil break and burn it down? Or does security not look the other way like I have heard from some. 3. How easy is it to meet people. Im not worried about being lonely or anything I mean cmon I'll have tons and tons of amazing bands to keep me occupied most the time but I really want to take part in alot of the events and activities and its usually just alot more fun with others. Silent disco sounds like a blast . Plus I plan on bringing enough supplies for a small army just incase, so im sure I will have alot of stuff to share with people around me. Honestly the idea of charging it solo makes it sound like more fun. But damn have I been to alot of shows alone where it just wasnt that much fun cause I was by myself.
Thats pretty much my only concerns. If anyone knows of any important tidbits of information that is needed for roo. Please let me know xD.
to answer a few of your questions.. you are basically assigned a campspot, you really can't pick one out, unless you are camping in tent only. you get the space behind, or right next to, your car, but not much more than that... like I believe the standard is something like 10X15, but I'm not terribly positive. NO CAMPFIRES! you aren't allowed to do this, and if you do, you will surly get thrown out (or at least repremanded) if caught. they are very very strict on that, and no matter how much experience you have with building them, there is always a potential for it getting out of control and starting a massive fire. I know, it sucks and campfires are awesome, but they just don't really work at Roo.. too many potential chances for injury.
you can puff basically anywhere you want (Centeroo is tough, because of security checking you at the entrances, but it can still be done and no one will hassle you once you're inside, just when you're trying to get in if you get an a-hole person checking your stuff), but it is a good idea to keep it on the DL and not flaunt it around officials.
you will meet so many great people over the weekend, it'll be ridiculous. bring a small pad of paper and a pen to get e-mails and phone numbers, you'll be glad you did. you can strike up conversation with just about anyone and have a good time

Haha yea I heard at the first one they had lots of dust and campfires everywhere. Never made sense to me I was curious why they would let it with like 1000 tents just asking to get set aflames. Is the tent only area alot more spread out and peaceful? Not so much peacefull but I heard its a little bit more roomier(dont think thats a word)then the normal camping section. Oh yea another question I forgot. Im a huuuge radiohead fan as well as beck. So I really wanna try to get as close as possible for these shows. Should I bother waiting out a space or is working throug the crowd possible.
Working through the crowd is very possible, especially with just one person. You shouldn't have any problems. I was able to get to the first row for David Byrne and Trey in 04 with no problems.
