so we've made the relatively last minute decision to go to roo this year, and it will be my husband's first time. he is not the world's greatest camper and wanted to splurge as this will be my 20th festival and get VIP. silly me did not realize all the changes that were happening with camping, and as I went to actually buy our tickets tonight and realized all 931 and even sub-par moon colony camping is totally waitlisted, i'm now wondering if it's even worth it to still get VIP. the AC spots in centeroo are cool, but i'm nervous it won't be the special experience we're looking for without the upgraded camping - a big part of the VIP draw for us was the proximity and shower/bathroom situation.
i think it's safe to assume getting a waitlist ticket is out of the question, but do we think people would actually sell a full 931 pass? is VIP with GA camping silly? should we just do GA+ and GA camping?! i'm just trying to get free ice cream y'all

Wondering if you have decided what to do? I am bummed that they did away with the old VIP section/ticket/program. This year we wrangled our friends with an RV to go and splurge for a power RV site so we hope we will be camped pretty close. I personally do not think that the VIP ticket is worth it and we are going GA+, mainly for the express entrance and the a/c lounge and restroom. Without looking at the secondary market, I would think that someone would be selling an area 931 pass at some point. I have payed my dues in the early years and got camped in BFE. The old VIP spoiled me and now I will always prioritize a guaranteed close camp site and quick entry to Centeroo.

Now in this economy driven time, the way you experience a festival is largely determined by how much money you are willing to spend. Now I know we are all hearing the same music, but the GA folks are having a different experience that the Unobtanium VIP folks. I miss the old days when we all paid the same to get in and enjoyed it together... Ok, yielding my soapbox for the next orator...

I get what you are saying, but the way you experience a camping festival is largely determined by your camping environment and how close you are to the venue. So if I want to make sure I don't have a 20-30 minute one-way walk to Centeroo I have to show up and start camping on Tuesday? I think that is unfair for a lot of folks. Also didn't VIP start in like 2005 or 2006?
You have valid points, I was waxing philosophically about festivals in general. I go to a few small ones with no VIP options and they are really a lot of fun. I don't have any bad thoughts about people who can enjoy the perks, a little jealousy maybe, but miss the simpler days when we all experienced festivals in the same way. You do Roo!

As an older-than-average festival goer, if I have to walk 30+ minutes before and after enjoying shows for 10+ hours without any access to AC and I have to stand in a long line to get in, I’m probably not going to go. In my younger years, I was fine with GA. Now, the perks are worth it for me.

Vip has never camped in area 931. That has only been for artist/guest/platinum.
Moon colony is where it was located other years.
Personally, I love the new way they are selling tickets.
