can someone please name four non-headlining acts that would be ahead of a big-name reunion beloved by a lot of 20-somethings that instantly sold out their Shrine show after receiving tons of media attention before MCR lands at number six on their day?

They'd be a sub and it's silly to continue this debate.
I also never got into MCR until the recent news but I've been really enjoying The Black Parade, and this is not a genre of rock I've ever gotten into. I'd be glad to see them there.

Seems like a lot of #3s have been bigger than #2s on their same day lately so I could see it going either way.

Yeah, I could see them at 3 in some scenarios, but 6 is pushing it.

This is a good point, though those 3's weren't reunions or rare for the most part.

I think when they said top six they meant for the entire fest. (Basically saying they weren’t sure if they were a headliner or first sub candidate for any of the days) I would totally agree that they are no less than #3 on their day if they play.
La Roux is more exciting than all that MCR talk. You're all overestimating them, they're big in the UK but outside of that.. (don't come at me with that single day Download festival in Australia they're headlining.)

I guess that guy that's best friends with Paul was right cause Harry Styles must have been really difficult to work with if he was planning a euro tour before, during, and after Coachella while also planning two LA shows next year, all while making trying to make a deal to be Coachella's #1 sub.
No LA date on YBN Cordae’s tour, but he’s playing Northern CA and the rest of the SW. Count him in.
Looked up his dates just out of curiousity and he's playing in my city this weekend! The new album is great, so I might scoop up a ticket unless anyone's heard anything about him being bad live

His performance on one of the late night shows was fantastic

Never listened to him before and checked out that performance with .Paak. This is great. Sounds a little like Mos Def on this song.

What's weird is we saw these guys walking around the grounds last year. Now that I see they were in the Heineken house, that makes a little more sense.
Just to be clear, when I said "top 6" I was counting headliner/subs for each day. Being #3 on their day is what I was alluding to. I think they will play before the sub on the main.

MCR is insanely popular in America in that age bracket. Don't underestimate the impact that the (early) Paramore/MCR/Fall of Boy/Panic! Era had on a demographic. Regardless if you like that kind of music or not.
The weird thing about MCR is that before they broke up they never played fests like Coachella and now they are probably going to play a bunch of them. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of crowds they draw.

Might be an outlier but many of their last shows were at Big Day Out and Voodoo Fest in 2011/2, which are in the same mold as Coachella as I understand it.

Probably the same people who listened to them initially but are now older and have a disposable income. Maybe if they make a big comeback with a new album they can get in on whatever fanbase Brendon Urie has cultivated over the years. My impression of their fanbase in 2011 before they broke up was a pretty ordinary alt-rock crowd.
