Speaking of, looks like my fiancée and me will be in NY for NYE and the first week of January. Any good non-electronic shows to recommend? Looks like we'll go to a night of Prydz HOLO, Cityfox NYE (even though it's a bit white male bleh) and hopefully see Avalon Emerson's six-hour set at Nowadays NYE.
Do you want to dance while also thinking about all the ways you've failed as a human?
UPCOMING SHOWS 5/14 - Neil Young & Crazy Horse @ Forest Hills 6/8 and maybe 6/9 - Governors Ball 8/17 - King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard @ Forest Hills 9/4 - Pearl Jam @ MSG 9/7 - Pearl Jam @ Wells Fargo Center 9/11 - St. Vincent @ Brooklyn Paramount
I am irrationally excited for this Tool show tonight.
That is all.
Amazing show though wish they had played "Intolerance" as they have been instead of "Part Of Me".
Yeah, definitely missed that one. I’m also bummed we didn’t get “Descending,” but I don’t know if I’d have traded “The Pot” for it. And then, of course, there’s the great injustice that they’re just not playing “7empest,” which, IMO, is the best song on the new record.
That said...what a show. The new material sounded phenomenal in a live setting. My wife’s been to six Tool shows in her life, dating back to 2001, and she said this was the best of them. I was hoarse on Wednesday from all the cheering. If the rumors are true and Tool is one of Bonnaroo’s headliners in 2020, we may try to find a way to get to the Farm, because I need my mind melted like this, again.

I wonder if the band hasn't fully rehearsed "7empest" yet or are saving that for another leg? Also, you know a band is one fire when you're making sure you leave to get a beer/take a piss during the OLD songs rather than new (as I did during "Schism").

Per some dude on Reddit who met Danny, Maynard is the one holdout in the band when it comes to 7empest.

It would certainly be more appropriate to see RATM somewhere outdoors versus at the corporate arenas such as Barclays Center and MSG presented by Chase.

Officially coming to New York from December 27 to January 5! Planning on checking out a night of Prydz HOLO, the Cityfox and Nowadays NYE parties and Four Tet b2b Anthony Naples at Nowadays. Any other recommendations? Been to NY a bunch, but of course haven't seen or heard everything.
According to leaked tour dates on reddit, Rage Against the Machine will do an NYC show on 9/21/20.
If this is true, where do we think they'd play? Somewhere outdoors like Citi Field or Randall's Island?
It is fake. It seems weird that they would do a NYC show on a Monday though. It would have to be at a stadium or park of some sort due to the demand.
For Randalls Island you have to essentially build the show from the ground up so I imagine they'd do a baseball stadium or something. This reunion will be cool but...not as exciting as when they got back together in 2007.

Makes sense. I can’t see them doing MSG or an arena like that. They’d have to do multiple shows there and I doubt they wanna do that, so a stadium seems more likely.

The best party happening the dates you are in town is Phish at MSG but I'm pretty sure that's not your scene

I have (4) tickets to Lucy Dacus (w/ Haley Heynderickx supporting) for this Thursday at Webster Hall (NYC). $120 for all 4; would consider selling in pairs. I believe the show is sold out!
Accidentally overbooked myself with Bon Iver + TU Dance in Brooklyn, and having seen Lucy twice this year... I'm headed to my first show at Kings Theatre. May my inability to put shows on my Google Calendar be your reward. I am truly bummed to miss Haley opening too; missed her set at Newport too.
I love New York. But I hate coat check in the winter.
Belated but this reminds me. What is everyone's strategy in dealing with coats when on a GA Floor in an arena. I know MSG just started to have a coat check but I don't...think...Barclays does yet. I have a strategy where I bring an empty laptop bag which they'll usually make me check at guest services so I stuff my coat into that. Any other helpful ideas?

If it's MSG or Barclay's and you aren't trying to get super close you could hang it on the rail in the back or side or something.
Today only for Cyber Monday Ticketmaster is doing a Buy 1 Get 1 Free deal for Chance the Rapper at MSG.
Is that show not selling well enough that they have to do deals like this? Thought Chance was huge.
The whole tour has been selling terribly. His new album didn't do well commercially and got poor reviews, so I guess his steam has died down. The B1G1 deal went pretty quickly, though. It was all in 200 sections, $39 before fees. I would've liked to have grabbed a pair.
