The Arctic Monkeys show last night was amazing. But I was absolutely shocked at how young the crowd was (at least around me on the floor). I swear when they played Is This It practically everyone around me looked clueless.
As I've said before around this board, y'all underestimate how huge AM was for the 16-22 crowd.
It's a record collection staple of every college freshman who just went to urban outfitters and picked up a crosley turntable
If you don't mind standing in the pouring rain, tickets for Courtney Barnett are going for as low as $18 on StubHub, could get lower in the following hours.

I'm genuinely curious as to how many of us die-hard fuckers are going to be out there tonight. I'm poncho'd up and hoping we don't get nailed too terribly hard.

Pretty cool how many awesome shows Elsewhere and Knockdown Center have been getting. As the big two companies buy out all the independent venues, new ones spring to life.
Anything good happening on the 11th or 18th? I am going to Westchester for something one of those two weekends, might head to The City since I'm in the area.

The Internet announced a tour. No solo NY show besides Afropunk and opening for the Gorillaz but based on the dates, I bet they'll be back in the area early December

Anyone else go to the Rob Zombie/Marilyn Manson show last night? I only went cuz I got free tickets through the ticketmaster settlement. Get there at 745, it immediately starts pouring. We still try to get inside so we can meet our friends but they stop letting people in due to the weather. They say just find "shelter" and the gates will reopen soon. Lucky for us we drove so we just went to our car, but all those poor souls who took the bus/uber to get there had nowhere to go. Like 150 people tried to cram inside that one public bathroom that's near the main lot. Some we even saw trying to hop the fence so they could get cover inside. After an hour, they make an announcement that doors will open shortly. Then after another hour they still don't open the gates, but tell us not to leave because the concert is 100% still going to happen. By this point it's 9:45 and we're like fuck it we don't care about either of these bands lets just go home. I find out later that they waited until like 10:30 to announce the show was officially cancelled....which is weird cuz thats about when the rain and thunder stopped.

That shit was handled so poorly.
Sounds shitty, sorry to hear.
I went to that show for the PNC date two weeks back (free tickets too). You didnt miss out on too much. Manson had a bad case of "I am mostly going to play my new material" and at one point he was playing what sounded like trap music? I dont know or care about new Manson material. Shit was weird. Zombie was pretty good, it was mostly all greatest hits that you'd want to hear. But seen him once and youve seen him, nothing new.
Jones Beach is beautiful on a nice day, but so inconvenient to get to. Its really out in the middle of nowhere. When you have pit tickets and the high tide comes in, you wind up standing in like 8 inches of water for the whole show. I try to avoid that venue unless its a show that I cant catch anywhere else (last one for me was Rammstein a year ago).

Yeah I hear Zombie is really entertaining live, I'd like to finally cross him off the list. How packed/empty was the PNC show? The Jones Beach show was selling terribly.
And yeah Jones Beach is a beautiful venue that I have really great memories of, but nowadays I only find myself there when I find free or really discounted tickets.
