Favorite show this year? Probably Flasher/Priests/Downtown Boys/Weaves/Chastity Belt or Thurston Morre Group. Getting to sing onstage with Merchandise was fun. Lots of club shows for me so far. I won't see any bigger name acts until ACL, Sound on Sound, Day For Night, probably.
Well, as has been the trend for the last handful years, I've not seen nearly as much as the lot of you, but this year has been particularly great for me so far:
1. Don Henley (The Fox Theatre in Atlanta, GA Jan 22) 2. Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds (Thomas Wolfe Auditorium in Asheville, NC June 7) 3. Radiohead (Phillips Arena in Atlanta, GA April 1) 4. At The Drive In (The Tabernacle in Atlanta, GA March 18) 5. Muse (PNC Music Pavilion in Charlotte, NC June 15)
These have all been rather unforgettable shows for me, with the Don Henley show legit being one of the best shows I've ever seen. That was a level of class I've only seen displayed on stage maybe a few times by other artists... I know Henley/Eagles is easily hated upon around these parts, but goddamn. A true masterclass of concert pop music performance.
This is absolutely going to change with Paul McCartney, MMJ, Metallica, Roger Waters, Gorillaz, Arcade Fire and many more all still to come but so far:
1. Radiohead - Philips Arena 2. Sigur Ros - Fox Theatre 3. LCD Soundsystem - Shaky Knees 4. U2 - Bonnaroo 5. Lorde - Bonnaroo 6. PUP - The Masquerade 7. Beach House - Georgia Theatre 8. Muse - Lakewood Amphitheater 9. Soundgarden - Fox Theatre 10. Priests - The Drunken Unicorn

I've been trying to redeem these guys as of late.
I keep seeing billboards and hearing radio chatter about his upcoming 70th Birthday celebration at American Airlines Center. Announced guests so far include Timothy B. Schmit, Joe Walsh, and Stevie Nicks.

Headlining Shows:
1) The Last Waltz 40 Tour - Orpheum Theater 2) Dead and Co - Fenway Park 3) Tears for Fears - TD Garden 4) Pond - The Sinclair 5) Beacon - House of Blues Boston 6) Robert Glasper Experiment - The Sinclair 7) Air - Royale 8) Priests, Snailmail and Halfsour - Great Scott 9) Infamous Stringdusters - Paradise 10) Grandmaster Flash - Blue Hills Bank Pavilion
Festival Sets: 1) Lorde - Gov Ball 2) Sigur Ros - Boston Calling 3) Childish Gambino - Gov Ball 4) Warpaint - Gov Ball 5) The Avalanches - Gov Ball 6) Royal Blood - Gov Ball 7) Michael Kiwanuka - Gov Ball 8) Mondo Cozmo - Boston Calling 9) Hiss Golden Messenger - Boston Calling 10) Phantogram - Gov Ball 11) Mumford - Boston Calling 12) Francis - Gov Ball 13) Francis - Boston Calling
Tried to keep the fest sets to 10, but I just could not do it. Also, the Francis experience was so so so different between Boston Calling and Gov Ball, in a good way.
Brian Jonestown Massacre, Acid Mothers Temple, Lee Ranaldo, Mitski for HM's with the other Roo sets.
Roger Waters 7/6 is going to shoot up this list I'm sure.
Deftones may have supplanted someone, killer setlist, got Minerva in Houston for first time since '13 (despite them being here like 7 or 8 times since then), much better production than I was expecting, and Chino was on which was solid since I saw some less than encouraging things about this tour online. For my first Deftones show I don't think it could've gone better and it definitely checked something off my middle school bucket list.
