Plus it just seems a lot more open. My main gripe about Centennial Olympic Park is that it doesn't feel very open, and viewing space for the 2nd stage is very limited.
Yeah that's kind of my issue with centennial. Like, the park says 21 acres but it's full of all this random crap that gets in the way and clusters it up. It feels like a statue park more than a recreational park. And that second stage def has some viewing space issues.
However I'm not a very big fan of the neighborhood setting. Still nearly damn perfect venue.
A neighborhood setting isn't ideal, but at the end of the day, anywhere but centennial / downtown parks are gonna be neighborhood settings realistically.
Oh nice, I was unaware of Phoenix II. And yes, I meant Civic Center. I hadn't heard Mayor Reed's comments on the development of that area but I'd still regard that whole spot as off the table. With the previous attempts to move that land and the efforts on Peachtree Pine it's almost assuredly a major area for redevelopment. Just don't see City Hall wanting a music festival there any time soon.
I do hope they take performance space into consideration when developing the Bellwoods Quarry park. Having that as a major concert/performance space would hopefully lighten the load on Piedmont and Centennial.
Haha yeah I was only aware of it because I saw a greg mike thing where he painted one of the tennis courts. No worries, after the failed sale Reed kinda kept quietish about it, he said that he was letting the next mayor deal with it just this week, so I wouldn't expect people to know that lol.
Yeah hopefully when they develop that park (i think they're gonna call it westside park from the plans) they keep this stuff in mind. Because it's far enough from the city /developed areas that I think it would need a draw anyway >_>
Ohhhh I thought Greg's Mike tennis court thing was in Central Park. Huh. Well yea, they should definitely use that thing more often.

I really like lakewood as an outdoor venue actually, mostly because of how the lawn seating is sloped and all that.
I actually don't mind stages being on asphalt either as long as there's somewhere to sit that isn't asphalt a la atlantic station 2014 (we ended up buying a bathmat at the nearby target to sit on.. and a fan because it was so freaking hot on that sunday).
The only reason I don't like vzwamp is because it's all the way in alpharetta. If this were like, 8 years ago when I lived over there I'd probably be for it though >_>
The Growlers have dates on the 11th and 13th, so they're definitely playing Friday
Damn, can't believe they're playing 5 days in a row. That is wild. Because of that, I think it's also pretty safe to assume that they will not be partaking in any after shows.

Just got an email about daily lineups.
"Set those alarms: The 2017 Daily Lineups will be announced Tuesday, February 14th at 11AM EST. 1-Day Tickets will also go on sale the same day at 12PM EST. "
Good thing I waited on buying advanced 3 day tickets - - they haven't even sold out yet :S
Friday and Sunday look like I am going to have a ton of issues with overlaps...... Damn it. They could have put a few more bands on saturday to split things up
Friday is quite stacked. I'm gonna be soooooo upset if Pixies play a different stage right before LCD. Hopefully, they put Cage in that slot though and I can just camp through Pixies/LCD (I couldn't realistically pick a pre-HL/HL combo more suited to my own taste)
and, yes, Saturday is really weak for me, just like everyone else. I will likely be going to the aquarium early that day because I doubt I will care very much about missing too many band that day.

Friday is way too stacked. I literally want to see every band in the top 7 or so. I didn't think they would all end up that highly billed, either. But damn. Saturday sucks. Hopeful that bands like Fidlar and Wolf Parade play earlier in spite of their billing because lines 4 and 5 are weak.

I'm also really concerned with how they're going to fit 22 bands on 3 stages on Friday (and 18 on Sunday) - pretty obvious LCD isn't going to get the 2 hour headlining set that I'd hope they'd get.

LCD didn't play one set that last year that was 2 hrs, I doubt that starts changing now. On the bright side, hopefully you get some new tunes live this year, that was my biggest disappointment last year.

I'm aware. Their setlist from last year was pretty boring, LCD is basically the last band I'd ever want to see play 1.5 hours of their hits. Their last concert before they broke up was over 3 hours long. I'm also hoping they'll have the new album out before this.

Friday is slammed as hell. those are a lot of "big" names for one day. Praying there aren't overlapping sets, and I can at least run between stages all day. Shit. those are intense sets too. ugh. kinda annoyed but what can ya do.

May go see Portugal in my town now to alleviate that conflict. And holding out hope that they'll throw a couple of the bands I care about Friday for late night shows (Wolf Parade or Highly Suspect seems most probable), but Modern Baseball, Temples, or Fidlar would satisfy me. That would help a lot. And spreading the wealth out from 4 o'clock on instead of like 6 o'clock on.

that's a solid point, hadn't thought about that. I've seen Fidlar 3 times already, so I could live if I didn't see them again, but if I have the chance I'll take it. if they do a late night I'll probably skip their Shaky set. hoping they actually pick good late night sets unlike last year
