That Anicon album really rips, but the Inter Arma just speaks to me. It's so sludgy and powerful. And fuck me if that's not the best album art I've seen this year, perfectly encapsulates the feeling of the album.
With one last full day of releases, I still have yet to land on my absolute favorite for the month, but I've narrowed it down to these five:
Sara Watkins - Young in All the Wrong Ways ScHoolboy Q - Blank Face LP Michael Kiwanuka - Love & Hate Nonkeen - Oddments of the Gamble - this is showing a release of Aug 5th, but it's been out on Spotify for a week now Shura - Nothing's Real
And some other honorable mentions:
HONNE - Warm on a Cold Night Badbadnotgood - IV Lou Rhodes - Theyesandeye
Great, great album. I can understand how some people might be let down by this, but to me it was always pretty impossible for this to ever come close to Since I Left You more than 15 years after it's release. To me it was just a super fun, imaginative album that on its own and not compared to its predecessor is just damn good and easy to listen to. Reminds me a lot of Plastic Beach by the Gorillaz in that sense. Will probably be in my top 5 come the end of the year.
