Please info too thread don't kill me but honestly have to ask what's up with Sigur Ros and the love for them. Not trying to hate but after hearing everyone go on about them I tried several things by them on YouTube and Spotify and feel like I'm in the twilight zone. Not trying to hate all just really don't get them I guess.
I'm really into yoga and you hear their music at every yoga class in town. I associate their music with rest and relaxation. I put on their albums at work when I'm stressed out. I think you either get them or you don't. I am starting to feel the same way about Frank Ocean. Everyone is hyped about him, but it sounds too autotuned to me. The beautiful thing about fests is that there is usually another act opposing the act you don't click with. No worries.
Fair enough I can understand that then. Not hating on them just not my personal cup of tea so wanted to ask someone who enjoys them why is all. Even when I don't like artist like other music lovers opinions still on why they like them so that's cool. And yeah I actually have given Frank Ocean music a chance and am enjoying it more then I thought I would honestly so I completely understand though.

I discovered them on the Vanilla Sky soundtrack and fell in love with those tracks. I don't listen to them regularly now (I used to paint to them) but their sound is unmistakable and I've always wanted to see them live making that ethereal music. The lead singer plays his guitar with a cello bow. I've heard it's an indescribable experience and I believe it. I think you have to hear them in the right setting to get on board--just sampling some tracks on your computer doesn't do them justice. But still, they are by no means for everyone. I'm a yoga teacher myself and do yoga regularly and have never heard them played in class, but they are the perfect soundtrack for it!

They are bad ass live. The sound production will be elite, and the visuals should be awesome too.

Do you think they'd be better on the beach or in the tent? I'm not a fan of the tent in general but am thinking seeing them in a somewhat more contained space would be better.
Either way will be fine. They could be on the AXS stage as they don't necessarily fit in with the overall crowd. I haven't watched any of the 16 tour, but 13 was a mix of lights and a high tech visual projection show (one of the best I have seen). I think the main thing is that they should play around sundown or after dark.

Ok cool fair enough I like the input from everyone. I see a ton of people rage about them on here and all of y'all who have a good music taste and do more music fest then myself, so helps me make a decision that I shouldn't miss this live show and experience them
Read both of the Oceans' Wikipedias. Frank really is a bro...born a Breaux. Waaaay cool. Caribbean Queen was made for Hangout. Maybe Frank will sing it. Not a Frank fan and Billy was sort of a one hit wonder. For those of you who like Frank, you should get your money's worth at Hangout 2017.
As of right now we are the first date Frank Ocean has had for four years and if he doesn't announce a spring tour or any more festival dates Hangout will be the first live version of Blond ever whether that's good or bad.

Went to see Joe Bonnamasa last night, it was a really good show. He has a great band, if you get a chance to see to him, I highly recommend it. 2 1/2 Hr. show. His guitar skills are amazing.
Other interesting facts about Chance and Frank, both are friends with Obama and were invited to this years White House State Dinner. Neither are currently signed to a label, Frank Ocean was his tour name before he changed it legally. Chance has never released an album, just three mixtapes bc he wants to make music free, so all his money is made from march touring and sponsorships.

Didn't he just say last week or the week before he was working on his first real album? I'm sure I read that.

How come the weeknd sucks but frank is dope? Serious question, no one here seems to really care about rnb. Is it just the rarity of his shows? I haven't listened to much, just curious about the hype this year compared to the haters last year.

Yeah, a lot of the hype has to do with rarity. Though, I'm not a huge fan of either, but it like Frank quite a bit more.

I think for me, personally, when I listen to The Weeknd I just can't take him that seriously. He's made to churn out hits and that's it, where as in Frank's music, I can just lose myself in whatever he's singing about and I can really get into it. It's on a whole other level for me.

For me Frank is more down to earth and relatable. He's also an amazing song writer with some alternative/indie like vibes and influences. He never falls into any bad modern R&B cliches either. He's really creative and takes his time on perfecting his music. It took him four years to complete his second official album. The Weeknd is more party music. He sings about how much he loves cocaine and getting laid. That music has it's place too, I just think Frank Ocean's music is more artistic. Also yes Frank Ocean is more of a rare exciting act.

I've been playing channel orange and blond tonight. Shits good. But he can't close out the night, everyone will get sleepy like when Sam Smith "headlined" .
You mean when Jack ü played and it was the best boomboom set ever. Yes please.
You got that top? It was better than Major Lazer that year. I think maybe Tribe and Pretty Lights 14 were better. Also probably Bloody Beetroots Live was better too (13?). Jack U was definitely pretty good. They (Diplo) called for NOLA and brought out Keno which was fun. Saw a lot of sets there though and probably Tribe Friday 2014 was my favorite at that stage overall.

Beetroots were so good. Bought wings from a food truck to keep us in the vicinity.
Fuck I completely forgot about Public Enemy back in 2013. That was wild as fuck. I was glad to be part of some mfs hating on racism right there in Alabama, America.

Jack U and Frank Ocean comparison, based on what I have heard, is like apples and bananas. Agree from what I have heard that Frank will be like listening to a mellow, kick back in the sand, hug your honey and slow dance. Jack U more of a mass dance party. My opinion and definitely not an expert on Jack U or Frank Ocean. I think I would like Frank better than Weeknd, I thought he was too pop/squeaky/bad Michael.
