So krisplettuce and his lovely bride, sparkysarah , mattlikesrock , beachdude , and maybe beachbob are planning on going to this thing. Who else? The more I go through these youtube clips, the more I'm thinking I need to buy a ticket and figure out commuting and parking.
I'll be there. With Apple Pie 'Shine. We stay at the Regatta on the east side.
I might get shit for this, but I want to point out that despite this festival having a pretty decent lineup and is one of the very few where you can swim in the ocean between sets, its still located in one of the most regressive states in the US in terms of civil rights and social freedom. If you are someone who highly values these things, you should speak with your dollars and not attend Hangout. If Roo hadn't pulled some (comparatively) less than stellar lineups the last two years this would also be a big concern since its located in Tennessee, which is slightly less regressive than Alabama (not counting Nashville and Knoxville proper).
tl;dr Don't financially support any Alabama-based fest because the state policy is hella regressive.
You're going to have to boycott a lot of things in every vein of life if this is the direction you're hoping to take.
Agreed. While I normally abide by this principle, I've determined that Alabama in particular will no longer receive any tourism or other business from me indefinitely. There are plenty of other progressive states with great music festivals and other attractions where I'd rather give my patronage.
This is no reflection whatsoever on my friends and other fine folk of Inforoo who reside in Alabama or decide to attend Hangout. I'm simply making a decision to not provide financial support towards Alabama's status quo.

TGIF - F for Frank Ocean and 48 days til Hangout Pre-Party. Christopher Francis "Frank" Ocean (born Christopher Edwin Breaux; (born October 28, 1987), is an American singer, songwriter, and rapper. Known for his idiosyncratic musical style, Ocean first embarked on a career as a ghostwriter, and in 2010 he became a member of hip hop collective Odd Future. He released his breakout mixtape, Nostalgia, Ultra, to critical acclaim in 2011. It generated his first charting single "Novacane". In 2012, Ocean finished in second place in BBC's Sound of 2012 poll. His debut studio album, Channel Orange, was released in July 2012 to critical acclaim and reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200. It was promoted with three singles: "Thinkin Bout You", "Pyramids" and "Sweet Life". In 2016, Ocean released the visual album Endless alongside his second studio album Blonde, following several years of delays. Blonde was acclaimed by critics, and debuted at number one in the United States and the United Kingdom.
Ocean was born Christopher Edwin Breaux on October 28, 1987, in Long Beach, California to parents Calvin Edward Cooksey and Katonya Breaux. When he was around five years old, he and his family moved to New Orleans, Louisiana.
He grew up around its local jazz scene and listened to his mother's CDs on her car stereo, including albums by Celine Dion, Anita Baker, and The Phantom of the Opera soundtrack. As a teenager, he did neighborhood chores and saved up money to rent studio time. As he recalled, "Oh man I had numerous hustles ... Washing cars was one of them, and mowing lawns and walking dogs." He enrolled in the University of New Orleans and moved into its dormitory in 2005.Shortly after he enrolled in the university, Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans and he transferred to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
Dedicate this one to the ladies out there.

Apparently tickets are still available on the Hangout website. Anyone got a promo code for a discount? I am planning to pull the trigger Monday. Gotta go with the flow...can't take the stuff with ya, just your memories.
I will be waaaaay out on the east side. Not exactly on my bucket list, but hey.

Can't tell if sad and remorseful or bloated and constipated....
He's sniffling and fighting back tears.
But he also should be crying for having to travel AND pay for seeing 21 Pilots, MGMT, Major Lazer, DJ Snake, Marshmello BRA, Charli XCX, Lil Yachty, Cash Cash, Snakehips or Louis the Child. That's like volunteering to do prison time - albeit in a very nice prison with 3 square meals and lots of recreational activities for the down time.

in his defense he doesnt have to see any of those acts.
i personally like Snakehips and Cash Cash, at least enough to check out at a fest
There's always Shaggy, Sigur Ros, Weezer, Chance, Dillon Francis, Band of Horses, Ferg, Mutemath, Bob Moses and Mac Demarco. But those are all probably later afternoon/evening/night shows.

..so you're coming in Friday afternoon?
Haha. Maybe. I haven't closed the door completely if there is a particularly strong day either Friday or Saturday. I can't go Sunday because of the Sigur Ros show here. But there's an extremely outside chance I could end up out that way. cpd thinks I'm just a hater, in reality, I just want better lineups.
