Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Fuck them. Go cold turkey on that shit. Mulberry Mountain is back on uh huh huh April 20 since Backwoods fest has disputes with Lincoln County, OK residents and politicians. Haha. Hating on some 'necks. I don't even know the bottom 90 acts from 2016, and it's already better than Hangout. It's not Waka, but Sweetwater, Jazz Fest, Sasquatch, Beale Street/Memphis in may and Seabreeze in Panama City Beach are all around the same time as Hangout.
C'mon man!...Seabreeze!? Don't get irrational. I'll be at SW420, SK, Sloss and maybe Beale (for Midnight Oil since the after market tix here are $200- $800!). There is only one line on the HO poster that doesn't have between 1-3 bands I would want to see, and Weezer, Sigur Ros, BoH, Shaggy and RKS are bands I have never seen that I would actually be excited to see. For you (as a semi local) it's just a lineup, but for most of us the vacation side of the fest is a major factor in wanting to go down there.
I fully understand that. I prefer coastal Florida to coastal Alabama, and it's about the same time distance from here (maybe 10-15 minutes farther). And it's not like we didn't go and have 4 great years at Hangout. But like you said, it's lineup dependent now, and I mostly don't like what Goldenvoice is doing. There's gonna be good sets, just more of a smattering than days chocked full of good acts. As for Seabreeze, yeah it's a lot of cheesy smooth jazz, but they usually have big talent on that lineup too. And I like jazz. Just looked at the lineup for 2017, and Kenny G is the only fuck I wouldn't see. Boney James, Shelia E, Brian Culbertson, Tower of Power...
yep just chalk it up to different strokes cause idk who the fuk any of those people are.. s/o to this guys hair
Lmfao. He's a pianist and horn player. Shelia E is the chick from Minneapolis' Purple Revolution you might have recalled that sung Glamorous Life (drummer). I can't remember if she was in any of Prince's early bands or just someone who came out of the Purple Revolution itself. Tower of Power is just a funk and R&B band from the 70s.
But it's more than just different strokes. Hangout had something for everyone and mixed in rock, jam, edm, eclectic, reggae and rap. They still do a little of all, but "If you want to destroy my sweater" (sweater song) probably shouldn't be a highlight. No way Hangout is going to suck, but too many sets will this year. I think it was friedcrabclaws that noted they don't go all day anymore. I understand going back to the condo to chill until "X" comes on, but splitting multiple sets and being jacked about shit from 2 or 3 til 11 appears to be a thing of the past after the last 3 years of lineups. Admittedly 2015 suited my tastes for a bunch of the edm, so I wasn't out as quick as Longinus or Blotter. It took another year. Y'all will have a good time anyway.
...back to mmj destination. I thought i read that unlike phish and panic, you couldn't be in the ocean at this one?...meant to say, watch the show from the ocean.
Sea breeze sounds interesting. I'd like to see Candy Dulfer and Tower for Power. I'm sure there are others I'm not familiar with that would lay down some good jazz. I'm not a PCB fan.
Memphis in May and Beale Street lineup looks better. Last time I went to Memphis, swore it was my last time.
I'm with Esteban on the HO assessment. The beach is awesome, but I can go down when it is cheaper and less crowded. GV has killed (like not much for my tastes in music) the lineup/music part since they took over.
Looks like Bonnaroo and Nashville shows this summer and beach trip before HO. New Regal 2100 due here in April so that's where I'll be spending most of my time this summer.

King Crimson wishes they had at least one "sweater song" in them.

I also read that and looking at the map it seemed they funneled the crowd into the courtyard between two blocks of rooms. Wouldn't mind a switch to where you can enjoy the water/beach a little bit more.....
Price factor, it would probably be about the same as lodging/transpo/VIP ticket at Hangout 2018 for myself.

Yea so i used to be the one who couldn't stay inside and make a day of it my first years since 2014 I can. Same reason my wife's parents don't go anymore.
Weezer and Sigur Roos would probably be highlights of my HO 2017 to. Band of Horses and Head and the Heart will be good and I'll see HATH at Roo.
Yeah, Sigur Ros, Band of Horses, Weezer, Chance the Rapper, A$AP Ferg, Mac Demarco, Shaggy, Mutemath and Bob Moses are all still on the lineup and all should be pretty good. Probably Mumford too. So despite the crap, there is good.
Gary Clark also killed it btw, but surprisingly didnt do any collabs with MMJ.
Lucious was down there right?...matching bikinis?
No, Weird matching capes on the first night. If I remember correctly they did a few songs with MMJ all three nights including some Pink Floyd covers from the Wall.

Nope, the main courtyard where they played everynight backed up to the ocean. There was an awesome small stage atop a lagoon you could swim and float in. We only saw Deer Tick play an afternoon set there. They also set up a giant screen and played the Super Bowl there before Pres Hall and MMJ on Sunday night.
on another note. I'm really considering selling off my 'roo stuff to come to Hangout. I really do love hangout, just the lineup does nothing for me this year.
I've never been to roo though and I feel like it's a bucketlist kind of thing. As much as I'd like to do both, it's definitely one or the other for me.
IMO, if you've never been to Bonnaroo (and you can stand the heat, camping, crapping in portajohns, etc), you should come at least once. It's definitely a different experience than your 'normal' fest. No po po, music goes on till wee hours of the morn, heavy duty party atmosphere, etc. etc.
If you're in GA, make sure you come in the North entrance. Very important. Will generally (though not always) get you a better camping location.

GA Tickets, but power pass camping. I value air conditioning. I'm pulling a little pop up camper there. I'm assuming all the power pass campers will be located in the same area.
asked them to bring back VIP grove artist performances or at least meet n greets/signings and that ice cream cart!!
Same here. VIP Grove performances, area at the boom boom tent, separate entrace like Super VIP has unlike just one single line crammed at the end of GA where you have to push your way to get. Then a few food and drink opinions.

Not completely sure, but I believe you will be in a special RV campground that should be pretty close to Centeroo. Best wishes on that!
To kill time waiting on pre-party line-up...what was your fave foods at HO? Mine would be Hangout restaurant nachos and po-boys with lots of cold beer and seat overlooking stage. Also liked the paella and pizza (definitely not the free BBQ pizza the hut was passing out). A BBQ and beer garden would be the bomb. Gimme some ribs pleeezzz!
Never got to VIP but, ice cream cart and orange sherbet would be delightful.
paulinky it would be really cool to have an Inforoo post up location for U2. Reckon you could pull that together?
i was able to get a pretty good size space an hour before Pearl Jam in front of the mixing board/spot light station about forty yards out from Pearl Jam last year. They put an aluminum fence around that location and hanging with your back against the fence was a great location. The folks in the fence were VIP or private party and I was able to cop some free booze.

Fried crawfish tails and seasoned French fries from the seafood courtyard. At least twice each weekend!
