great convo y'all are having about looking back and seeing how great lineups are due to lower acts moving up in the world. I'd have to agree I kick myself all the time when I look at my roo 2010 and 2011 posters (my first 2 fest years)
Also feel Hangout does a decent job of highlighting those newer artists even if they do get knocked for having a "younger" lineup.
Funny to see lumineers, Alabama shakes, cage and young the giant toward the bottom of 2012 think the same for 21p in 2013.
I missed Black Crowes first time but got on front row second time around and was great. I think that was the year Government Mule then Black Crowes, then Tom Petty with Cornell in there somewhere for a short sundown set. Really good.
tool ,bon iver and the xx? I'm sure they're good gets but def not for me. Well I would see tool just to say I did to ppl who really like them. Idk the other good stuff is at hangout sept maybe nathanial, car seat, and Danny but hopes are high danny comes back to the preparty his last show was too wild.
The only reason I even go to these miserable music festivals is to tell people that I've seen their favorite band.

Right.... no not rly that but just the ppl who like tool seem to have a complex and think they are like sent from God so it's just fun to be able to casually dismiss them to fanatics who haven't seen them. Sorta the same thing for Pearl Jam and Radiohead. Although I did actually enjoy Radiohead at acl til It got all boring and moany, like where's the drop?

Lol, "where's the drop".
I get it though, a lot of Tool fans are Tool fans. Kinds of like a girl I use to know, when you asked her what kind of music she listened to she only said Soundgarden.

What on Earth are you all talking about? And quit quoting Krisp. I ignore him for a reason!!! Smiley winky face or whatever.
Anyhow, Hangout lineup is better than Roo's but I'm still not going. Can't get any of my peeples to get tix. Cancelling condo in the morning most likely.
im not into Bon Iver or xx or Sigur but the diversity of that lineup is beautiful, really has something for everyone all the way through. Thats what fests should be striving for.
Agreed. Does anyone on here remember Buffalo Tom? Blast from the past.

'Soda Jerk'!...saw them in Boston a few moons ago.
For sure. For comedy sake, I didn't know about these acts at Bonnaroo 2012:
Main Squeeze Tauk Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds Rubblebucket Cherub Moon Taxi Orgonne Mariachi El Bronx Phantogram (knew of them from Flips DSOM) Big G Danny Brown Kendrick Das racist War on Drugs Gary Clark Jr Trampled by Turtles Kurt Vile Soja Mimosa Charles Bradley Black Lips Joy Formidable Yellawolf 2 Door Cinema Club Flying Lotus Major Lazer Childish Gambino Needtobreathe Feist Santigold St. Vincent (set repped by Flea the next day)
And I still had a full 3 1/2 days of live acts. That was my first camping fest.
Off your list, Esteban, I managed to see Orgonne, Moon Taxi, & The Black Lips. I too had 3 1/2 full days of music & missed all those killer acts!
Band they have that Hangout/Bonnaroo doesn't have that I really like is Sylvan Esso. Saw them last year at Forecastle & I can listen to/watch that lady aaalllll day.
Yea she was great to watch at hangout a few years ago on main stage. Loved the platform shoes and hairy pits!
If you'd seen her at Forecastle, she looked like she'd just left the trailer park to get some white castles (dirty tee shirt, cutoff bluejeans, barefoot (I think)). Man she can dance her behind off, though. Plus a great voice.

Krisp, I've seen them once (Roo 2012). It was lightly raining & they didn't play any of their good stuff (Creep, Paranoid Android, etc.), so I was definitely underwhelmed. Will say that they had an awesome light show, though. Had a chance to see them at last year's Lolla, but opted for Ghost instead. That Ghost set was killer!
BTW, A$AP Ferg played before Ghost & I see Hangout has him! Have the prudes in Baldwin County seen an A$AP Ferg set?! I thought he would be like Die Antwoord (bands that will never, ever play Hangout). Sure surprised me when I saw him there! If you like dirty hip hop, this will be your set!
i wish me and cmack could be there to support the fake Ja Rule rumors. always love seeing the reactions and responses, i forget which year but ill never forget when we were promoting Ja to be playing some girl asked me "who is Ja Rule, are they good?"

it was one of those 'oh honey' moments. if any of you ever heard some one screaming non sense about Ja at this fest in anyway there is a 97% chance it was someone from mine and cmacks group lol

Pretty sure it was 2014 because we were saying Ja was replacing Chance.

Good to hear. We've got tickets for Jan 30.
They played 2 tracks off 3 at Day For Night. Also, they were last phase add for Buku so I will get to see them for a 4th time in a couple months. They are always fucking great. And with January 30th being about the best day of the year anyway, that will be a good show.
I wish they'd throw in more material from RTJ1 in these setlists but the show will still be fire. I'm seeing them in February over here.
We got Sea Legs, Banana Clip and something else in December. Let me go look:
RTJ Oh my darling, don't cry Blockbuster Night Part 1 Banana Clipper Close Your Eyes and Count to Quack Nobody Speak Sea Legs Lie Cheat Steal Legend Has It Crown Talk to Me
I'm not sure if it's representative of what they're playing on the actual tour or not though.

Yea I was hoping for more from 1 but I only got Run The Jewels to close. Was a heavy set list on 3 but got some of my faces from 2 and Gangsta Boo was an opener so we got Love Again which was awesome. El P was pretty self conscious about like 3 of the new songs being debuted, it was pretty interesting when he would talk before playing them.

That's fucking great. We blast Memphis all the time at home, and I love some fucking Gangsta Boo.
