baaasically what I'm saying here is that I could give 2 shits about most of these bands discussed in the clues (except glass animals and the slim potential answers of future islands, TVOTR, modest mouse...) and I just want the better choices to be the answer.
I apologize for setting the internet on fire with my John Mayer guess, it was my first thought when I heard "bucket list" and saw the straws. I am really starting to have doubt that I am anywhere close to being right with that guess.
Shit you beat me to it. John Myer is also a brand of whiskey. If someone had just reversed image searched this shit from the start it would've taken a minute to solve. Most redditors still think it's Long Island
To recap: Bucket list: John Mayer has songs in the movie Three straws: John Mayer trio has three members Bucket of whiskey: mayer's song "whiskey whiskey whiskey" John Myer Whiskey
Seriously, the clue is a bucket, the answer is either Rubblebucket or Buckethead. That's it. All of these posts remind me of the First Aid Kit clue fiasco of last year.

I really think that "bucket list" has nothing to do with an actual list of bucket list artists that the Roo staff want. How would we know who they dream to have? The Mayer>Bucket list movie connection seems way more solid.
Specifically looking for a picture, to hint at a trio, would likely not have been successful in one search. At least not as a top result.
There are still enough clues for it to just be John Mayer. I guess? Meh.
We have no idea how many searches it took to find a proper picture... Perhaps "bucket of whiskey" was the 17th try and some intern was like "hold on, this is perfect!" and got some kind of promotion.
Regardless, the non-straw connections are still strong for Mayer. Edit: Fucked up the quoting

And that's why I have him listed at the top of the list in the OP. All I was saying was that worrying over if it's the Trio or not doesn't really matter.
Don't see what's so hard to understand about that.

Ahh! I thought you were trying to knock down Mayer completely. Maybe they decided on this pic because it had three straws? So the real question is, if the Mayer Trio is coming out with a new album (and most likely touring next summer) would Mayer also play solo shows? Or would his efforts be committed to the trio?

Yeah, that's my bad. The "meh" was meant more as frustration at not being sure. I could see how it would be taken as totally negative. I wrote, but then erased, something similar to what you are saying. It seems like we'll just have to sit back and wait for album/touring news.
And it could be something obvious like several of the other clues have been. Who knows?
I feel like the difference between Mayer solo and Mayer Trio would determine if he's headlining or not. He headlined alongside Jack at Music Midtown, so a top 3 slot wouldn't be out of the question. Closing the what vs. closing the which seems most likely
As for the guy who said the clues don't hint at headliners, RHCP were a clue in 2012
Sleater-Kinney is a 3-piece band plus there was an earlier post from someone pasting Carrie Brownstein saying "I'm so psyched, it’s like a bucket list thing. Sleater-Kinney was never on the cover. I’m not mad about it. [But maybe you can] superimpose Janet and Corin next to me?”

Eh, I don't think he would be a headliner if booked solo. While he closed out one of the Music Midtown days opposite Jack White, he was 4th on the bill behind Zach Brown Band. If he plays Roo solo, he will probably be booked somewhere in the 5-8 range.

I wasn't here for the logic behind these, how does the whiskey tie in?
It probably doesn't. Don't read too much into these, they aren't the clues of 2012 and before.

Why would they find a picture of a bucket filled with whiskey from a travel blog then? I have a hard time believing they would've found that image without searching "whiskey bucket" or something like that.

Here's the process I think they went through: "Hey, *insert bucket named band here* is playing this year, let's use a picture of a bucket as the clue." "Okay, what should I look up on google images?" "How about a bucket of whiskey? Wouldn't that be funny lolololol"

Ya... Because that's much more likely than "hey we booked John Mayer. Go ahead and make him a clue." *Wiki searches John Mayer* "oh hey! He did the theme song for The Bucket List and has a song called Whiskey Whiskey Whiskey" *googles "whiskey bucket"*
I think only you and your imaginary intern would find googling "bucket of whiskey" humorous

okay, lets break this down and see if anyone smarter at these clues than me can come up with something from this thought.
1 picture of a bucket of whiskey (straws probably irrelevant, but dont completely cancel them out) 2. "bucket list" - this is something that people make of things to do before they die.
what band or artist has a song or album title that has to do with "living life to the fullest", or "dying" along with a big strong connection to "whiskey"
Whiskey ideas to go off of - Songs, or album about whiskey or maybe a former alcoholic, or maybe makes their own brand of whiskey? "Bucket list" ideas to go off of - songs, albums, or lifestyle of an artist who promotes living life to the fullest, last chances, dying?
“Music has always been a matter of Energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it Inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed Fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio.” - Hunter Thompson
John Mayer Trio fits so perfectly, how has this gone on for 10 pages???
because a bunch of us are in denial that it's john mayer trio.
As the person who was first to say John Mayer Trio and there is so much denial, I really am doubting it a bit too.
John Mayer Trio can fit, but we could make connections with a few other things too, if we go with the doubters and the ones in here saying it shouldn't be that complicated..lets look for an artist that connects the theory of what a Bucket List stands for - "things to do before you die" or "living life to the fullest" etc..etc.. and tie it in with whiskey?
