Where will The Who and/or D'Angelo be during the weekend of Bonnaroo? That would help determine whether or not it's John Mayer Trio or JM solo. [Reason: Pino Palladino, touring bassist for The Who, is the bassist of John Mayer Trio]

Not sure if this is relevant but Sturgill Simpson (possible answer to clue #2), Houndmouth (likely answer to clue #4), Moon Taxi (possible answer to clues #2 and #6), and Trampled By Turtles (likely answer to clue #7) are all booked for shows at AC Entertainment venues in early 2015. Would the fact that they're playing ACE venues in 2015 make them any more likely to fit the clues?

This is interesting thought, what if The Who is a headliner and the bassist doubles with John Mayer Trio for a late night super jam session?
“Music has always been a matter of Energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it Inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed Fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio.” - Hunter Thompson

As safox21 said, The Who are playing Nashville in May (this is a scenario where the radius clause would likely come into effect since they would undoubtedly be a headliner).

well with all that, if the trio is out due to the The Who's tour dates...I dont think this clue is John Mayer Trio or John Mayer. One I think its too big of a name for a clue and two I think if John Mayer was there he would be there in a since that Ben Folds was last year, just doing super jams and special guest appearances.

This is one of the reasons why I'm having second thoughts about John Mayer. The other clues have thus far pointed to lower tier artists, and based on last year's clues, I wouldn't expect a top 10 act to be hinted at this early. I could be completely wrong though.

I am with you on that. I could see him as a top 10 act at other festivals, but seems to me that Bonnaroo has so many even bigger names he would barely fit into the top 10. And this is being said by me being a really big fan of Mayer. I really doubt this clue is even close to John Mayer anymore.

For the record, they gave clues for both Pearl Jam and Metallica in 2008.
Also, from what I've read, it seems like Mayer put the Trio project on hold. He's currently writing and recording another album and rebuilding his solo band.

Dave Matthews was the big one in 2010. After that there hasn't been much of anything in the top 15 or so.
If I make a FAQ can we get it stickied in here for easy reference? It would be nice to have all the past clue info in one place. These questions seem to come up in every thread.

The highest billed acts that were hinted at via Roo Clues in 2014 were Arctic Monkeys and Neutral Milk Hotel, right? And those were the last two clues given.

Yep. The year before that was Animal Collective(17th) but it was the 2nd or 3rd clue.

Sure.
Haha Druid despises this thread because of the thought of John Clayton Mayer being possible
Oh I apologize. I would never want to have musical tastes that don't fall in line with the outspoken inforoo elite. Please forgive my atrocity
Do you have reading comprehension issues?
Glad you didn't miss your cue... I fully understand what he was saying. My point was that I think it's even more ridiculous to be upset by someone talking about an artist they enjoy. Does that satisfy your criteria for a worthwhile post? Wait... Never mind. I don't care

Lots of people talk about artists that they enjoy on here. You get singled out because...?

So can we get back to trying to solve this clue? I am lost at making connections, I did find Nelly Furtado had a song called Bucket List, not sure what the hell that has to do with the picture though?

After reading the following pages, I'm pretty convinced Roo Clue #6 is Moon Taxi. Not sure why they used such obscure clues for a lower tier act (just show a damn taxi cab with a freaking moon in the background), but the connections are all there. "Bucket of Whiskey" is a Moon Taxi song. Thai buckets, which contain whiskey as the main alcoholic beverage, are served at Full Moon parties in Thailand. Full Moon parties are apparently a bucket list activity for many tourists. And lastly, because these Full Moon parties are held on an island (Koh Phangan), people often take ferries (or water taxis) from the mainland. In other words, my reasoning is essentially the same as what's included in the OP.
