I'd assume then that MMJ and Iron & Wine/Bridwell are the top two acts of the day.
My thought as well. I wasn't 100% certain if they'd be the preheadliner, but I'm fine if they are. If those two acts and the Lone Bellow are all on the main stage, I know where I'll be all Friday
Band Of Horses and Iron and Wine have both been preheadliners in the past, right? If it was billed as a Sam Beam show, I'd be more inclined to think it could be earlier in the day (a side project instead of Iron and Wine + guest).
Also, I just remembered how much I love the I&W and Calexico joint album. Might be the only Calexico album that I really enjoy listening to. Friday has so much potential for collaboration.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
I think she has a better shot at Saturday or Sunday. Because she has been touring with bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn. I'm sure that she will be on the same day as them.
Someone pointed out on the Facebook page that Jay Sweet has multiple Paul Simon covers on his Newport playlist. If it means anything at all.
(First Aid Kit - America, and a song by Robert Ellis)
I thought I heard that Paul Simon is one of Jay's "white whales", but he's too expensive. I don't know if I would be able to emotionally handle him at Newport, or anywhere. He's at the very top of my bucket list!

Why'd you tease me with this!
I honestly think that he is a possibility. Not saying that he's going to perform , but it is interesting that he has placed those covers.

Hi, been following along with all of the predictions and enjoying the process! This will be my first time going to the festival and am coming form out of town. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on the parking situation for the festival? Debating between getting an advance pass and parking on site or going in on the ferry. Have heard both methods have a super long line but wanted to see if any prior attendees had advice. Thanks!

I usually use on site parking. You can purchase it ahead of time, or at the gates. It's always been available when I've arrived to the festival

We've always parked using an advance pass. It takes forever to get in and out. I've never taken the ferry but the line is very long. I have no idea how fast it moves or how long it eventually takes to get back to town. The fastest way in and out is to bike it. It's probably about a 10-15 minute bike ride to get back to town. If the weather is conducive and you're travelling light that would be the fastest way.

Just noticed Chris Eldridge and Julian Lage are doing a tour (shows scattered between Punch Brothers shows). According to Chris's site there's nothing between July 16th and August 1.

Oh snap! That could be the "artist that played NEWPORT Jazz 2014 that will also be playing NEWPORT folk this year" that Jay Sweet was talking about in that Podcast!
