To tie this in with my earlier guess, the Melbourne Cup is a huge horse race here - over 100,000 people attend, and plenty more watch from home / the pub.
And yes, I saw the Instagram link Dave posted - but against all logic, I'm sticking with my original guess (mostly because I think Portlandia is overrated and Nick Cave is underrated). Plus it just seems far too easy.
Reading the Brownstein interview yesterday, combined with the portlandia hint, makes me think Sleater Kinny as well.
Seems obvious(but maybe too obvious?), these wiki-facts might also mean S-K:
The band's last appearance was at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland, Oregon, on August 12, 2006
On November 29, 2013 the members of Sleater-Kinney joined Pearl Jam and Scott McCaughey and Peter Buck (who were members of the retired band R.E.M.) during a concert in Portland, OR for a cover of Neil Young's "Rocking in the Free World"

On Radio Bonnaroo, they said the image is not part of the band name. They said that before the image was posted on Instagram, so I assumed that the image would have some kind of written clue. I'm confused.
There's an Oregon Star Party in 2014...maybe that's close?

Kinda makes it evident it won't be Portlandia, then. Washed Out or Sleater-Kinney.

Just a side note: I think She & Him played at Nashville at the Ryman last year during the weekend Bonnaroo was taking place. I had a few friends who went to see them.
Anyone else fixated on the crooked antenna? Or is that just run of the mill stock tv icon?
I think alot of people on instagram are still wondering why the frame for Oregon is all weird and bulky looking and has feet on it. Probably the people shouting Shins!!!!!
