Few other odds and ends: Tig Notaro got totally boned not winning best comedy album. It was made all the worse by Kathy Griffen telling a bunch of shitty Justin Beiber jokes during her acceptance speech.
Also Vampire Weekend seemed pissed their award was relegated to the pre-show. They didn't even bother to wear suits or give an acceptance speech.
I can't get over the tragedy that is Macklemore winning Rap album of the year over GKMC, and Rap Song of the year over New Slaves.
Drake won it last year so you shouldn't be expecting too much.
At least Drake can be taken somewhat seriously. And there wasn't such a clear cut number one like there was this year. And I'm not sure if this is the right place to say it. But that song Same Love is absolute garbage

Yea, it seems like everyone gets offended by everything nowadays. And if they aren't directly offended...they pick something apart to be offended about, like in this article. The "faux outrage" is something I can't stand.
Though it does kinda remind me about how some people continually bring up/point out how Bonnaroo only likes old white men

I get being pissed that Macklemore beat Kendrick, but you really have to bend over backward to distill RAM into "veteran white group playing retro-styled black dance music with African-Americans as side musicians"
Nile Rodgers was not a side musician on that album.

Is it odd that there have been a few articles that feel the need to point out that it was "strange" that Queen Latifah helped to marry those 34 couples on stage (some of whom were same-sex) but didn't come out of the closet/make it clear that she, herself, was also gay? Or am I just being weird about it?
I saw a few reviews point that out and I wanted to say "Who the fuck cares? Why is it strange that she didn't proclaim her sexuality right then and there? It's her own business.". It just felt weird that people seemed letdown or confused because she didn't come out of the closet. Like she shouldn't have done what she did unless she also made her sexual preference known.
I have to agree with most of that article about white people. Far too many white people won awards they didn't deserve. Kendrick destroys Macklemore. It's not even a contest. I enjoyed RAM, but GKMC is so much better. And I'll go ahead and say it, I don't really like "Get Lucky" that much and never have

Macklemore was the only "white person who won an award they didn't deserve." GKMC just didn't have the commercial appeal to win AOTY. Plus, even if you try to argue that RAM wasn't at least "deserving" of a Grammy (which would be crazy), when it eventually did win a Grammy, lots of black people who were critical to the success of the album were recognized and took home a trophy too.
Now as to whether some of the performances were lame and uninteresting, that's another matter.

That, young Padawan, is a very thoughtful and good question. While it is hard for me to understand what it's like to be gay, I certainly believe that a gay person would want respected, famous, whatever, people who were also gay to be able to publicly say that they were gay and it's ok. However, I more strongly believe that no matter how many people might be helped by someone coming out and saying it's okay to be gay, personal is personal. Even as a celebrity singer with a talk show, she is well within her right to not talk about whatever aspect of her private life she chooses. I do wish strong people like her who have money, fame, credibility would be okay with talking about being gay (if in fact, she is) - I also recognize though, that one's sexual orientation shouldn't define who a person is - and I could see that as a concern for some people.
Does it make her a hypocrite, or the choice strange, for officiating weddings that involved gay couples? Not in my book - it would be strange to me, or hypocritical to me, if she had made negative comments about being gay or maybe even lied about whether or not she was gay. But as far as I know she has not, and it should have been as if Madonna or Macklemore had been the actual officiant. In fact, I actually forgot at the time that Latifah was someone who some in the gay community were asking to be open and public about whether they were gay or straight.

You misspelled Padawan, old man.
For me, I see the issue on two points. One, the whole idea of the marriage ceremony was that all these couples of varying orientations were getting married at the same time to signify that the love they feel is singular regardless of the gender of the person standing across from you. With that idea, it shouldn't really matter the orientation of the person officiating the ceremony because the love everyone feels is the same. Second, it's just a larger issue I have where there is this idea that people feel they deserve to know all the ins and outs of a celebrities private life. There's multiple people that I have met in real life where I have no idea what orientation they are because they haven't volunteered it and I don't think it's my business to ask. It's just fascinating to me how that decorum disappears whenever someone is in the public eye.

Yea, I just got a weird vibe from some things I read that made it seem like they expected her to come out and it was "weird" or "strange" that she didn't. It's an interesting topic but I didn't understand why it was even something that needed to be brought up in the reviews/articles.

Yea, that was part of it for me, as well. That shit can be annoying.
