So is it still illegal to bring alcohol into Tennessee? Are there special tax stickers they will look for if we have to two handles of hard liquor? Should I just buy my alcohol in Tennessee?
I know they don't want glass on the farm but I am talking about buying alcohol in Texas and bringing it into Tennessee. The article is a bit dated but it may still be in effect. They really love their tax revenue I guess.
there are many stipulations to that law, such as oz per person not as in the whole car. Our rule of thumb is general a 30 brick and/or a (plastic) bottle of liquor per person in the car and we've never had a problem.
Those are dated laws going back to prohibition. It's a mix of interstate trafficking, bootlegging, tax evasion and ATF guidelines. If you got in trouble for having a personal amount for a weekend of camping any judge in his right mind would throw it out.
