I got the impression that Bahama Bob's closes early as well but definitely plan on heading there for a Soft Shell Crab Po Boy and a few drinks at some point. The food is generally great at these smaller places. We tried a few of the buffets and were disappointed every time.
Bahama Bobs does close early (as do most places in Gulf Shores in May. May is "pre-season" for a lot of business owners here). For late nights, locals know to go to Cohiba Dunes Cigar Bar. Best dance floor, best dance music, and full of babes. For info, go to this Facebook page, which I started to provide local info to Hangout attendees: www.facebook.com/HangoutMusicFestSurvivalGuide
I liked the Facebook page. I'm down for anything Hangout related. Thanks for your input. I get the "preseason" thing but I could not for the life of me figure out why all these places closed early on a weekend when you have 35,000 partying people in your town. Even Sunday night, we were sitting on the porch of the Gulf Island Grille having beers and watching them tear down the festival. The bar was full, the tables were packed, probably 10-15 people on the porch coming and going and we totally got the vibe that they wanted to shut down and get everyone out of these ASAP.

Just speaking for myself here, but I would not be caught dead seeing/listening to whatever u call that ^
I am at work so I can't see what video was posted but I listened to Won't Laugh and Says She Loves Me Quick on YouTube. I'm pretty open minded musically. Definitely not something I am particularly interested in at all. Mainly because the lyrics are so frat boy horrible.

Ironically, I was introduced to them through my fraternity, so I can understand the dislike lol. But to each their own, I just thought I'd throw in my two cents. I did get a kind of quasi-confirmation through a few tweets with RDGLDGRN's bassist, GOLD...

Ya hear that folks? A real life frat boy on this board. Let's GET HIM! On a serious note, with that description you gave I didn't give it much of a chance, but when that dude started flowing I had to kill it. They actually make me like RDGLDGRN less it was so bad. To each their own, I guess.
It's like a preppier Asher Roth type thing (if thats possible). Oh well, as you said, to each their own. I am a bassist and although I don't write a lot for my band I am sure people would say my songs are terrible too. On a side note, I was talking about Hangout at work with a buddy who has toured on the metal scene and he knows Gold. Hopefully, get to hook up with him at some point.

Just spit balling with who plays where. I think we are missing some beach acts as of now. I think Dawes gets a beach spot, other possibilities would be cage the elephant, Alabama shakes, head and the heart, local natives.
HL- killers, keys, outkast Chevy- queens, PL, JJ. All obvious. Subs at main- avetts, mouse, flips Tent closers- wiz, Zedd, gambino Letting go closers- STS9( during JJ), tegan and Sara ( during PL), bloody beets- sunset would be cool for them. Not sure about this spot. Chevy subs- capital cities/fitz, cage the elephant/local natives kind of thing, Portugal the man Main stage mid day- fitz/cap cities, Dawes, Ingrid michaelson Chevy mid day- trombone, ALO( zach gill backs JJ- they will prolly play Chevy on Sunday to not move instruments, black berry smoke. Oberst, Amos lee close BMI or hangout.
Once again just bored- I am not sure about letting go closers at all except STS9. Thoughts?
I would flip QOTSA and FLips. FLips always play Chevy stage at Hangout. I would guess b/c their elaborate stage setup doesn't mesh with getting ready for a headliner after. I could see QOTSA in YYY spot last year (they played main stage before Stevie).
Me and my group will be staying on the East side this year, really close to the entrance. I think the Condo/Apartment Building is called Gulf View... looking forward to this years lineup, esp - Reignwolf, Valerie June, The Wans, Shakey Graves and a few others.

QOTSA, PJ, and JJ are definitely closing chevy. The Flips aren't doing the hamster ball / confetti cannon circlejerk show anymore. According to infinitypass, they are curating a stage, which might mean they could be closing that stage instead (but more than likely FLips will be in the YYYs spot on main). I think it all depends on how big the addition(s) are. And FLips definitely didn't curate the chevy stage...my guess is that it will be the stage for all of the bands that are a complete "wtf are they even doing on THIS lineup" like Black Lips, Reignwolf, and Diarrhea Planet.

I'm pretty sure they're gonna close the Chevy. They still have a very large set up and as close a relationship as they have with the fest, it screams Chevy closer.
I don't know if they are having it again this year, but last year The Chevy Catch a Ride deal was sweet. They had lots of Chevy vehicles rolling up and down the west side. We had shuttle passes, but rarely used them. We would just walk out to the road and wait a few minutes and we would catch one. Most I had to wait was like 5 minutes. It was at least a 15 minute walk to the pick up spot for the shuttle. If you caught one heading west they would drop you off right in your driveway. Chevys ran all day until about 7 or 8pm so they did not help the evening commute. You did have to listen to some light sales pitches on the vehicle, but it was well worth it.

The Lips should be doing a new set other then "the terror" tour by then. As a pretty big fan that show was not that good. But I like to generally like the ability to dance and smile if I am going to go to a live show.

is that just wishful thinking or did Wayne say that somewhere?
Friday: The Killers Saturday: Outkast Sunday: The Black Keys
Man are the Keys that big now where they can close out the festival? I know they've headlined others but closing out the fest I feel like is meant for the biggest/most nostalgic act on the bill. I feel like Pretty Lights ---> Outkast is our scenario for Saturday. Just makes too much sense. The Killers were just named the top live band of 2013 by "gigwise." I know that's a random media outlet but still, just gauging off their production and the fact that they haven't already played Hangout, I would think they'd close it out. Complete opinion though.
Yeah, you could be right. I'm probably biased in that I don't like the Killers all that much and equate them to KOL last year in that the yare a rock band with a specific following while the Keys seems to have a more diverse following (to me at least, could be completely wrong). I guess the Killers do have a pretty big following and catalog though and I did watch the live show on Palladia and it got me more excited to see them. Keys have headlined a lot of fests and are the first act listed on the lineup. Jus tmy guess though as well.

Word. Ya being first on the poster might indicate they're the Sunday headliner. I def wouldn't compare The Killers to KoL though. I actually like KoL's older stuff much more than what the Killers have done but last year KoL came out of nowhere. They had basically been nonexistent for 2 years and no one liked their most recent album. Now once the announcement of their new album came out it made more sense but the timing was way off. The Killers were still headlining festivals last year so they feel much more relevant. Also, as much as people may not be into them as a headliner, I do think it's kinda cool that as of now, Hangout is the only US festival to have them booked for 2014.
Yeah that is definitely cool. With their whole hiatus/side projects thing they could never play again for all we know (although they have indicated that they intend to in 2015). So that's kinda of neat. The lineup isn't geared towards my taset in music htis year but I am even more excited than last year. I've been looking hard at the undercard bands and watching haows and jus tgetting generally excited.

the more i dig into the bottom of this lineup the more i love it. there are atleast 30 bands that i want to see and im just hoping the schedule lets me see the ones i have on the top of my list.
some of my new favroties this week are Wild Cub, Bronze Radio Return, Bad Suns, and SOJA. I've never been into reggae all that much if at all but man SOJA is pretty damn good i think i got them down as a must see on the beach

Kind based on a few things. I think they meant that for a be a "dark period" tour/album as even talked about how it was uncomfortable to play the songs on stage. This was moving away from their "lets throw a weird party playing our hits" formula they have been using for a while because he can't stop chasing younger ladies, his wife of forever ended it, made a sad album, I'm not going to judge, moving on...
They were supposed to do a Lip$ha album, they have talked about they may make an album with hwdy fwnds extras they accidentally made (couldn't find source), some peace sword material, new stone roses cover album. I just don't think they are going to dwell on "The Terror" much longer with so much other material. "The Terror" kinda sucked, the fun out, of shows, and the crowds were dead. It's good show if you enjoy if you like just staring and listening at uncomfortable beautiful sounds. I feel from interviews they feel like it was something they had to do, but deep down they like throwing that good old fashion, happy, up tempo, party, with sad songs.
Skipping the obvious curmudgeonry toward the Killers, there's a lot to look forward to. Hot Fuss is much better than most give it credit for (even past the singles which dominated radio for what felt like eternity, check the seriously solid back half). The new single "Shot at the Night" gets dismissed too quickly. This plus some solid singles and hopefully a few hidden gems sprinkled in set up an enjoyable show. All things considered I'm pumped for the show and I don't proactively listen to their music since Sam's Town. All my humble opinion of course, but I feel these guys will send us all home pleasantly surprised and happy. Even the dedicated detractors.

Dayum. The Terror is legitimately one of my favorite albums of recent memory. I was looking forward/wishing for a Chevy closer "Terror" set, but you make good points. Especially considering the festival environment. Guess I'll be keeping close tabs on their Gasparilla and Buku shows.
Pay no attention to him. We'll get some material from The Terror because they didn't hit up the gulf coast for that tour last year.
Although in 2012, on that little mini 24 hour record breaking shows tour, I heard them play You Lust with Phantogram in Biloxi. That was the first time they'd ever played that song live. We had no idea what we were hearing at the time, but that shit was amazing to hear while just chilling in the Hard Rock hotel pool.

Check out Wild Belle too... I had a friend show me them this summer and their two biggest songs are pretty tight. Oh, and their lead singer is a total smokeshow

Their production is so much better than the day and age tour at this point. Has a hangout headliner had laser before? The killers use multiple laser set ups and heavy strobes. It's not muse crazy but solid. Their rendition of shadow play and the light production during that song will make you a fan real quick. They play that song about half way through. And their newest single shot at the night maybe my favorite single of theirs since read my mind from SAMs town. Produced by m83's lead man it taps into the hot fuss days.

Friday: Black Keys Saturday: OutKast Sunday: The Killers
?
I am going with
Friday- the killers Saturday- the black keys Sunday- outkast
Rationale is that the legacy act has alway played Sunday night at hangout. Simon/DMB/wonder. The keys and killers don't fit that demo IMO. The #1 plays Saturday- petty/rhcp. The killers are a perfect Friday headliner.
