No disrespect Zen Arcade but I don't see a way Auburn wins this game. Not saying they are lucky to make it this far or anything like that, but FSU is one of the most complete football teams I've seen. And yes I do admit a slight ACC bias, but this team is so good.
Also, a huge thank you to all the SEC fans on this board for not posting any "they weren't motivated because it wasn't for the title" crap. The fact of the matter is, the landscape of college football is more level than many would like you to believe.
They said there was no way Auburn was gonna beat Alabama or Missouri either.
As far as last night goes, Oklahoma outplayed and outcoached Alabama. Plus Trevor Knight played out of his mind.
And now we don't have to hear from Bammers about how they should have played in the title game regardless of the score of the Sugar Bowl or title game.
Apparently you didn't read all the "trailer park whore" comments on the youtube.
Edit: because of course everyone south of the Mason-Dixon lives in trailer parks.
There's lots of trailer parks all over the country.
Also, I hope that woman got arrested.
Also, why on earth would you read youtube comments? That's as bad as reading the college football thread on inforoo. Uh, nevermind.
I am of the mind that she did. In addition to the usher, you can see a guy coming up the stairs at the end that has the dark jacket that seems to be the ubiquitous one that they seemingly issue every security/police officer in the country. As much as I enjoyed watching her stage dive onto a pile of bros and as ridiculous as they were probably being, I am all for an ejection at the very least if not an arrest.
90% of SEC fans were cheering for Oklahoma last night. I'm not an SEC person; I really don't care that much about college football. But I will say that just because Alabama lost it doesn't mean that the SEC isn't still the top conference in college football. They are 5-2 so far this bowl season with 3 teams left to play (Auburn, Missouri, and Vanderbilt).
I'll be cheering for Ohio State tonight (I'm not going to watch the game, but I hope Clemson loses).
If an SEC team doesn't win this year, and the 7 year long streak ends, it would still be tough to say that they aren't the best conference. I mean, 7 years in a row with 4 different schools? It will take more than one year to change that. Alabama was not as good this year as in years past anyway.
I will concede, however, that the majority of SEC fans that I know are very annoying when it comes to their team. With that said, I've only really been around SEC fans, so I'm sure all of your conferences are filled with very annoying fans.
custeph, I hope Clemson beats OSU and Urban Meyer tonight! Go Tigers!
On a side note, Al Jazeera has a great article on the economic causes for the decline of the Big 10 and the rise of southern football conferences. Discuss!
after FSU destroys Auburn maybe some of the SEC bias will finally die down. turns out that they're not the best this year. everyone thought Alabama was the best team all year, purely based on what they had done in the past. really who did they beat? then Auburn gets all the credit because they beat Alabama, so they must be the best right? wrong.
Gotta weigh in on this sang. You're recycling the same tired criticism of the SEC. If the SEC was so overrated (and I think that individual teams, e.g. Alabama, LSU, are each year) then another conference would have won the last SEVEN NT's. Hell, I'll even say six, since one of the games was two SEC teams from the same division (I was torn on that selection, for the record). But to say that the media narrative drives the success of the SEC is an empty argument. Is there an SEC bias? Absolutely, sometimes unreasonably so. But no conference has risen to challenge that dominance. And as a fan of a low-tier SEC team, the schedules that other teams in other conferences play would ensure at least a .500 season for such SEC teams each year.
