^As a Tennessee fan, I can honestly say the worst part of playing Spurrier over and over again is that you know, if you lose, he already has his little quip sound byte ready to go. He had decided he was going to say that, if they won, well before kickoff.
A part of me is still a little disappointed that we didn't get to hear his smartass rebuttal to Kiffin's "pumping gas" comment. You know it was coming if we had lost.
Haven't had to hear Spurrier's little jabs towards Auburn in quite awhile.... he's 0-5 against Auburn since he went there.
Fun fact: Tennessee has a better record than Clemson since 2006 vs. South Carolina.

So how is the ACC performing in these bowl games? With 11 teams in a bowl game this year, more than any conference. That conference must be the best, right?
Spurrier is a cock! I have the shirt to prove it. It reads, "Spurrier is a Cock". I only wear that shirt one Saturday a year, in the fall. As a Gator, i love The ole ball coach. I love that he is poking people back home. At that moment he was speaking to Gamecock fans and high school recruits. And to say he will never win a NC, if he always is focused on Clemson, I say not so fast, because if you can't beat your in state rivial, how can you win the a NC and to beat your in state rival, you must win the recruiting war in your state. Spurrier knows this.
Last, has no one mentioned the Fesita bowl and how UCF upset Baylor last night. Well to me it was not an upset, "defense wins championships."
Every year people bitch and moan that the big east/AAC doesn't deserve their bcs bowl bid yet their teams have beaten their higher ranked counterparts from one of the "stronger" conferences for the last 3 years in a row. Pretty sure they have a better overall bowl record in recent years than the ACC as well.

Speaking of such things, are you worried about Strong interviewing with Texas?

Our history with keeping good coaches doesn't give me a whole lot of faith. Every time we have a guy that gets something good going in Louisville it seems like they end up moving on to a better job pretty quickly. I was surprised he stayed when Tennessee came calling last year but our AD was able to counter their offer. We're not winning any bidding wars with Texas though. I feel like Teddy leaving this year just gives Strong even more reason to go as well.

I went to the movies last night. What happened in that game? Was it gameplan or talent or bad luck or what?
The better team won. And I'm not saying that to be a dick.
Oklahoma had a very good offensive gameplan and their QB played his ass off. They never truly relinquished momentum and every time Bama made a play to close the gap, Oklahoma made an equally big play to separate.
Point being: the SEC bias you all (TWO WORDS, F*CKERS) have is silly, ya jerks.
This was my big take away from the game. Trevor Knight is the real deal.
I usually detest those "his favorite player is X! And he wears his #! And he tries to copy everything about him!" stories, but Knight's Drew Brees fandom seems to have actually influenced the way he plays. He modeled his throwing motion after Brees (who has one of the fastest releases ever) and Knight's ball really explodes out of his hand. Knight will have to work to quicken his release at the NFL level, but man does he throw a laser beam at his receivers. He has a nice touch, too, when he needs it.
after FSU destroys Auburn maybe some of the SEC bias will finally die down. turns out that they're not the best this year. everyone thought Alabama was the best team all year, purely based on what they had done in the past. really who did they beat? then Auburn gets all the credit because they beat Alabama, so they must be the best right? wrong.

I am an unrealistic Ohio State fan. I hate to see them lose anything. Being short Spence and Roby does not help anything, but I remain optimistic. I know there are some die hard Clemson fans around here, good luck tonight. I don't trash talk, win or lose. It will be a fun game to watch. :-)

I think we'll be able to score plenty, with or without Spence and Roby. the problem is I don't think we can stop Miller and Hyde.

I thought after Bama tied the game at 17-17 they would take advantage with their huge o-line and run the ball and the clock. They really didn't need to try and get in a shoot out with the Sooners. Knight is going to be a good one.

Don't start anything before they play the game, my friend.

if I'm wrong the SEC still reigns and I spoke to soon and I will admit that. I seriously doubt that I will be wrong though. I feel like the SEC's run is at the end and I'm very happy about it.

No disrespect Zen Arcade but I don't see a way Auburn wins this game. Not saying they are lucky to make it this far or anything like that, but FSU is one of the most complete football teams I've seen. And yes I do admit a slight ACC bias, but this team is so good.
Also, a huge thank you to all the SEC fans on this board for not posting any "they weren't motivated because it wasn't for the title" crap. The fact of the matter is, the landscape of college football is more level than many would like you to believe.

I don't think Auburn is going to win. As the bowl pick 'em shows, I have been wrong before though. I also said somewhere a couple of months ago that I didn't think the SEC is going to win the title this year. Is the SEC still the best conference? Yes. Is the SEC dominate? No.
I will give sang_xcx unending amounts of sh*t if FSU loses though. I will say my college football nemesis has already ate his share of humble pie this year since he was the king of the "Jameis ain't sh*t" patrol at the beginning of the season and has readily admitted he was wrong on that since.
Mista Don't Play, I asked about why Bama lost because of that argument. I certainly felt like them coming out unmotivated would be a possibility though a remote one since Saban's teams are usually coached better than that. If the consensus is that they just got beat, they just got beat then.
Hey guys, why don't you just throw a black cat into the FSU locker room while you're at it?
Haha. Just to throw it out there. I doubt you could find an "expert" that picked Oklahoma over Alabama. In fact, I was watching one bowl game, and the commentators had a little laugh over how they thought Oklahoma had no chance.
