Does not play much? Did he start the game? Did he start against UGA? Sorry but if you are "starting" games I am confused how you can say this player does not play much, but that really does not matter or maybe it does. If he was not a starter then maybe his punishment would be more harsh. Right now Clemson, like the rest of the ACC is viewed as "soft". Best way to change that is too start doing thug acts like those SEC quacks. and yes I am poking you with a stick with that comment, as far as I know, Clemson has been a clean program, something to be proud of, unlike some other teams. Sorry, but if Clemson chooses to not separate themselves from this act, by not kicking Battle off the team, then they are accepting of it and that is gonna say a lot about your team and what is future acceptable behavior. Glad we both agree he should be off the team, so that is that.
Good point fuzzy, but I do not view this as a "mistake". There are certain lines that one does not cross and throwing cheap punches is one of those lines and as a player you know this.
Oregon had no problem suspending Blount for the remainder of his senior season, though he did get to play in the bowl game that year.
Personally, I think everyone makes mistakes and it is a violent game. It could be more damaging for the young athlete to kick him off the team rather than using another, strict form of discipline. From the Dabo quote, it sounds like the Clemson lineman can expect practices to be brutal.

the only reason he's been playing is injuries. we've had linemen go out in every game, 2 in this game. I totally disagree that it has anything to do with the perception of Clemson being soft (ask LSU or UGA if they're soft, as far as that goes). it was just one guy being an idiot. they are definitely not coached or encouraged to do things like that.
Dabo Swinney announced in his press conference receiver Martavis Bryant will receive some "team discipline" this week for a repeated throat-slash gesture after a touchdown at State. He will play but in a more limited role versus Wake Forest. If he's willing to take playing time away from our #2 wr for this, I see Battle missing more than 1 game.
Dabo said that Battle will not be playing this game, and that he has a very tough punishment every day this week and that he is really remorseful of his actions. This is football stuff happens. Im sure its hard not to have animosity toward someone that is talking trash and hitting you every play but still he shouldnt of done it so hes facing the consequences.

Battle's 1 game suspension is automatic, for throwing a punch and being ejected. I'm hoping Dabo gives him more of a suspension on top of that.
Stealing this from a Clemson message board, but this shiz is too funny not to share. I'm guessing some of you saw the Hokie Stone helmets last night.
You guys seen these funky rock helmets?
COLUMBIA - The University of South Carolina's football team will soon wear new helmets featuring the school's signature stone, crystal meth.
Head coach Steve Spurrier announced "“When you look at this helmet, it’s not flashy, but it means a tremendous amount to this University. The outside world may have to do a double-take, but the Cocky Nation will know exactly what it is: Crystal Methamphetamine! And it’s something we’re proud of. The reason I like it, is because it represents what this program and this University are built on. Each piece, in its place, serving its purpose, doing its job, and when it’s all working together, it’s rock solid and it’s something special. That Cocky Stone … represents what we’re all about!"
Spurrier went on to say that a special team training session was called to acclimate the player to the new look. "We had to tell them, 'Look, this s***t isn't real, so don't be trying to sell it, or hold a torch to it, or scrape pieces of it off.'". Despite the warnings, the school has ordered an additional 87 replacement helmets, just in case.

I liked Bill Maher's comparison of Ted Cruz to Miley last night. His goal was to draw attention to himself and ultimately, as with Cyrus getting sales increases and magazine covers, it will be a plus in garnering him attention from the teabaggers in upcoming primaries.
Tennessee needs more bricks, also more mortar, a few masons and a good foreman, the kind who will tell you what to do but is also willing to take the bull by the horns too when the work needs done.
Funny how this season's gone. The 7-point victory we have has been so much more enjoyable than the three 25-point victories. Probably because our offense only showed up for the one game so far.
Lets keep the the billy ray offspring whore talk out of college football. Thanks. Carry on.
Go Gators!!!
They had a salute to jorts today on Gameday. Thought you would have appreciated that segment. Also, Muschamp admitted that he likes Nickelback.
Well that is good, I did not even know what jorts were until today, so I learned something. Also, I missed the "Nickelbag" part, either way, I am not interesting in Coach Muschamp's musical taste, I am more excited to see him head butt someone, out of excitement of course and his ability to have his team dominating the line of scrimmage. Oh, did you see this play...
They couldn't wait another month to fire him? Like Nov 2nd or so?
Orgeron is probably going to be the interim. As an SEC fan, I can tell you this is good news for you.
Also,
Vol nation is taking this news even better than I expected.
Edit: My favorite tweet on the subject. "Lane Kiffin fired. In the middle of the night. Why does this seem so apropo?" Edit #2: Wow. Apparently, they didn't even let him leave the airport before they fired him. Damn.
