The team wants Geno to start. Vick is the best guy to have in the event Geno comes out and either gets hurt or falls on his face and sucks. I personally would rather have Campbell or Shaun Hill, but Rex loves Vick. They're not signing him to start, in fact the reason the two sides stopped talking originally is because the Jets wouldn't give Vick the starting job.
It still pains me that the Giants probably won't draft Aaron Murray because they blew a pick on Nassib last year. That guy might end up the best QB in the draft.

Steelers get 3 free draft picks as compensation from last year, signed WR Moore, ILB Moats, and should pull a RB either MJD or Blount is my guess before FA ends. Should be primed to draft a corner early, and with the depth of this draft can still address some issues.
LMAO at the Eagles getting Sanchez. Barkley not tossing enough interceptions for the backup QBs?

I'd rather have Sanchez backup up Foles than Barkley, if I were in your shoes.
Fuck no, I am keeping mine. That was me mocking the idiot Jet fans who are very conveniently finding their moral compass enough to bitch on the radio and internet.
What Vick did was deplorable, he also served time (more than is typically served for his crime, mind you) and has since been a model citizen. I root for laundry, not human beings, and if I wanted to stay on the moral high ground I wouldn't be fanatical about a sport that glorifies shitty people every day just because they're big strong meatsacks that can put a hurtin' on people.

As much as I always liked Peppers the player and the guy and didnt like Jared Allen, I have to commend the Bears today. No possible way they couldve kept Peppers at that 16-18 million dollar cap hit. No way he would stay with the Bears by publicly taking a pay cut. Bears did the right thing in releasing Peppers and Peppers did the right thing in trying to find a new home (although I hate its the Packers). Now with the Allen signing, for the price they wouldve owed Peppers this year, they get Allen and Houston. Im impressed with the move. Now I just have to learn to root for Jaren Allen.

I guarantee when I go stream Chicago sports radio today, the same fans (we call them "Louie from Lockport" or "Southside Stan") who lambasted the Bears for losing Peppers to the Packers will now be talking about buying superbowl tickets and saying "Im glad they got rid of that old washed up guy in Peppers" and will follow up by comparing Allen to Dan Hampton as well as boasting how we stole a guy from the Vikings.

It's always reassuring to know that sports radio callers are terrible everywhere. Sometimes, I get worried that all the idiots just live around here.

Oh, they're everywhere. I won't bother going into detail, but you can imagine what "Jets + Vick = ______" was like the first day the news broke.

Oh, I am sure it is one that proved racism just isn't for the South. Men's basketball has been our most entertaining story recently with the roller coaster of them struggling then ending the season strong and making the tourney then Pearl getting hired by Auburn then the team making the Sweet 16. It's been amazing to watch how quickly people's opinions have changed again and again.

Best call of the day so far that I have heard... Caller mispronounced Phil Emery's name(Armory), said he was upset when they let McNown go (not McCown), but now that they signed "this Allen guy from the Viqueens", its like "rubbing your dogs nose in it after he dumps in the neighbors yard". Im not sure I understand the analogy.
I was concerned briefly that I missed it that the backup QB last year was actually Cade McNown all along and not Josh McCown. I heard the Viqueens joke for the millionth time and its apparent that when you say "This Allen guy" you really dont know who he is anyway. All of that in one call. I slow clapped in my office for this caller. After he got off the phone he probably put the Super Bowl Shuffle tape in the VCR and cracked open an Old Style for breakfast to celebrate.

That's some quality mindless banter right there.
There's a guy who has been calling WFAN a lot lately saying Idzik is a bum and should be fired for doing nothing. Then the host will go "but he signed Decker, Vick, a starting RT and has 12 picks in the draft." And that just sets them off on a tirade about how that team isn't going to win 4 games and so on. It doesn't help that Fatso Francesa fuels the stupid fire with his narrative.

Basketball season in the triangle brings out the worst in people when it comes to radio. When these teams struggle, its the end of the world. You wouldn't believe how many people wanted Roy Williams fired 2 months into the season.

Allen is younger and at this point a good clip better. In the last 4 seasons, Allen has been far superior to Peppers. I remember after a lot of Bears games trying to recollect if Peppers even played because he was nonexistent. Allen is 31 so signing him to a 4 year deal is perfect, with only $15.5 mil guaranteed, while Peppers was set to make $18 mil this season alone. Personally, I've been a fan of Allen since I watched him on MTV cribs years ago. I mean, the guy gave a tour of his house wearing daisy dukes carrying a bullwhip. He just seems like a silly, down-to-Earth, hillbilly. I'm really considering buying his jersey, I'll probably see how he performs first.
On another note, I'm glad they cut Melton. The guy was a stud 2 years ago but he showed up last season overweight and played like a bum up to his injury. Plus, there will not be a controversy of the jersey #69.
With the auditions of DE's, I'm hoping they'll focus on a safety in the draft. Our safety's were dog shit last year and we just signed 2 more slightly better bums.
So far I'm very impressed with our GM and head coach. Barring injury, Da Bears are gonna be a tough team to beat. Last year they blew some games so they could've easily won 10. This season I'll predict a 12-4 year. Anything below 10 wins would be a major disappointment for me.
The way this DeSean Jackson to either the Raiders or Redskins for a boat load of money thing is playing out is absolutely perfect.
I don't think the Redskins will break the bank for him. Aside from the fact that they don't have the cap room to do so, the new composition of the front office has been very fiscally responsible in its approach to this offseason. They seem to be drawing a line in the sand at a reasonable number with free agents this year, and I think (hope) they will do the same with Jackson. It's the same reason they still haven't signed Ryan Clark, who apparently expected the Redskins to give him one last big payday.
I am happy to say that, to this point, the Redskins are not the offseason champs this year.

$16 million fully guaranteed in 3 years is a bit dicey. His unguaranteed year coincides with when he'll be 29, so I wouldn't be surprised if he turns that offseason into a "potential holdout" story while leveraging a new deal.
But you'll get two happy years, at least, and he's fun to watch. And he is going to try to rip Chip Kelly's heart out of his chest Indiana Jones style for those two games, which will be fun to watch.

My understanding is the Skins are only locked in for 2 years and can cut him afterwards for a minimal cap penalty. Solid gamble.
Still probably won't pay off by mere fact of it being the Redskins and Dan Snyder.

I can't wait for the draft. I think I've decided my favorite players are Jordan Matthews and Kyle Van Noy. Just feels like those two are both way undervalued right now.
