Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo in 2013!!
Postjack and Bonzai both said they're against it. Big deal, they don't like the idea and if the mods rule against it we'll go about our business. If the mods deem it a useful tool, as many people seem to think it could be, then guess what? Life will go on unimpeded as it always has.
I don't understand why you're taking this personally. You don't have to use it, and if it's set up the way I proposed (with mods having the same control over them that they do here), what would be the difference. If someone started a "We hate Flanzo" group, I wouldn't give two flying f*cks, but I'm assuming a mod would shut it down and explain that's not what the private threads/message/whatever-it's-going-to-be-called is for.
stop what??? not agreeing with you? wtf do you want me to say flanzo? get off my nuts already!
i already agreed that a private forum is fine as long as individual members are not being allowed to be holier than thou and pick and chose.

So everytime someone decides to PM someone, rather than make a public post to that person, they are being holier than thou?

phil you can't be serious right. you know you would not get invited to any threads. lol
So instead of replying to my scenario, you resort to this?
Wow you look so bad right now.
Unlike you, I could care less whether or not I get "invited" to any private threads.
actually i already responded to you and you continued to tell me that i did not make sense.
once again, i am so sorry for not agreeing with all of you. of course your opinions are right and we should all just let you do whatever you want to do. what was i thinking even saying anything

So, one of my real concerns about this, is that the public areas of the forum will be barren as quack.
I only recently found out about the private areas of the Coachella board, and honestly it peeved me a bit because I feel like that must be where anything resembling useful information must be hidden.

Give me a break!
sending someone a PRIVATE MESSAGE with PRIVATE information is not the same thing as making threads and excluding people who want to post in them from doing so.
sorry. nothing you can say will convince me otherwise.

Not constructive. I think the point of exclusion has been brought up and addressed. This is the shiz that makes me have pause.. and want to log the Quack off. But keep fighting.. someone will find it entertaining.

I want you to act like an adult.
Say you don't like the idea and stop acting like every f*cking time someone proposes an idea that might not involve every single person on inforoo it's a grand boys' club conspiracy against you.
You don't like the idea. In fact, you hate it. Anything else? Any specific reason why you think private information and discussions shouldn't be private?
Phi has grown on me (wtf is this thread turning into? The "Phi is alright" thread?), but am I at a position where I want him having my personal email? No offense Mr. Phil, but we're not there yet. But let's say I want to start a private message about a specific EDM artist that I know nothing about. I want to discuss it with Phi, X, and Y without having 30 people jump into the convo. I can't do that? I'd have to attain their emails, which they may not want me to have, and privately email them all to have that discussion? I don't see how that is any less exclusionary than a private message. Same principle, just more work and a bigger pain in the ass. I should have to go through that process because your feelings will be hurt when you're not invited to private threads you don't even know exist?

How can we be so sure that won't happen here?
But at the same time, private information is shared everyday among members.
Through txt/FB/PMs/etc.
If we want to discuss something privately, we can do it. We'd just like to instead do it via this forum.

I don't see any argument to the small net approach, like what Phi said with the 10 people pm example, but what really brought this to light was the Artist Direct Confirmations thread being widely exposed, a thread like that would next to impossible to pick and choose. And then we're basically back at square 1 again.
Can't wait to start my private "Catfish and Trader Joe's" thread with you and CKS, EAP.
Oh, I want in on this! But let me guess, I'm no invited.
You're in. No other dudes, though, this is the thread where I plan to mack (and cheese, amirite?!?!) and I don't want RDK and Phi c*ckblocking like usual.
