I tried to watch this the other night... Got 2/3 in and had to turn it off. Idk if I can finish that movie.
Bad or too intense?
Bad. Bad decision making on the main characters behalf and annoying acting. It got to a point where I wanted to punch him and scream. That's when I turned it off. I didn't find his thought pattern or actions believable, just stupid and annoying. Idk maybe it was partially the intensity of the scene I was watching and all those other factors.
Dont have much hope for it either, but i still want to catch it. Did catch Place Beyond the Pines last night and was a fan of him in that even though i wasn't that fond of the entire movie.

It was decent. The color and cinematography were both incredible, but everything else was lacking. If you like the style of DRIVE then this one may be worth a watch.

I could see how some people wouldn't like it. It's not a movie I feel a desire to rewatch soon. I was surprised how tightly focused it was. It reminded me of the character studies from the 70s. Like The Last Detail or The Conversation. I thought Gyllenhall's acting was pretty great. It's hard to portray that level of intensity over the course of a film without seeming hammy or unnatural. As far as believability goes, the whole movie is pretty much from Lou's POV so it's going to display a warped since of reality. The fact that these people exist is quite unbelievable itself.
Ok I'm halfway through season 1 of Twin Peaks...someone please explain. What the hell is going on? Is Twin Peaks supposed to be campy? Am I not smart enough to know what's going on? Why does David Lynch do this to me?
