I agree. I don't visit the Le Plur stage often, but I welcome its expansion if that's what's helping keep Voodoo Fest viable. And with Le Plur attracting a sizable crowd, we didn't have to camp out for a great spot at any of the main stage headliners. I'm liking that, as I always hate sacrificing quality side stage acts to post up.
What they need to do is put Le Plur back where it was in 2011 and move Le Carnival to where Le Plur was last year. That will resolve the sound bleed issue I think and it will keep those kids on the other side of the gotdamn festival.
Lady Gaga COULD play Hangout, but do we really want her there???
As for the Le Plur thing, it does make sense in "making the fest more viable", but myself like many others were going to Voodoo back when there weren't that many US festivals so we prob expect to much.
Voodoo used to be so amazing. I still love it but nothing will top being a young stupid kid there.
Anyways, Avett's look pretty likely. They are in Alpharetta on 5/17 with no more dates till NY on 5/24. I would say that makes them a Saturday mainstage subheadliner lock.
If they are going to play it will be Sunday. They added Nashville on 5/18.
Yea I was telling people about WSP and FLips in like early December for the '11 fest because of a leak.
Knew about SCI from Colobrahdo leakz Kangfirm'd by Xmas time last year. To be honest it's kind of exciting not knowing anything.... I still wants m0ar spoilers though
Hey everyone, first time posting on this subforum, and I'm really hoping I heard this wrong, but...
I spoke with a gentleman recently who works high in an entertainment company, and mentioned they recently purchased multiple music festivals around the country. Two festivals he mentioned were Voodoo and Hangout. He talked at length about how EDM is a main focus of theirs, and will continue to be featured at festivals (no surprise there). But while talking about Hangout, he mentioned going after a different demographic with Kenny Chesney.
There's no way Kenny Chesney would perform at Hangout, would he? His tour dates don't make sense, as he's in Alabama a month prior, and is in Milwaukee May 18. I'm really hoping I heard him wrong, and that he just said that he was working with Kenny Chesney and his people, but not specifically for Hangout. I've never wanted to be more wrong.
Welcome friend. I believe that the Tortuga festival, being headlined by Kenny Chesney, is run by some of the same people as Hangout. You got a couple of the details mixed up, but that's the gist of it.
Thanks for the clarification. I was so thrown off by him saying Kenny Chesney and Hangout in the same festival that I didn't even confirm what he had said. So much for putting my journalism degree to use.
At least, with the rumors of him playing other festivals owned by the same group, people won't think I'm too nuts.
Heard from one of my friends who knows good sources that Atoms for Peace are playing. Makes sense and would be awesome
How confident are you in this? You wouldn't be bullin' would ya? Atoms for Peace would be about as good as it gets for me at Hangout. Never seen anything like that in my three years there.

So you're unaware of Thom Yorke talking about how AFP won't even be playing at Glastonbury because the tour won't be ready yet? Somehow I think that rules them out for Hangout. Word is that AFP won't start touring until late summer or early fall. I'd love to be wrong though.
I think there's a decent chance Yorke was bullsh!tting, and it's possible they might play a small run of shows before a full tour. But I doubt Hangout would be able to land them. Maybe if they offered them 7 figures for a Friday headlining slot or something.

Yeah, I don't think Huka would pay that much for AFP, but it would probably take a huge offer like that to get them there. Particularly if they aren't touring.

I posted this earlier in the thread, but I think Mumford and Sons value this year will be way overpriced due to there hype. I don't think the Hangout can win a bargaining war with the bigger, more established fests. The fest might not want to anyways. Definitely a tricky cost-benefit analysis with a capped attendance.

I'm hoping for no Mumford. I can't stand them.
Atoms For Peace would be great. I just want to get a real legit rock headliner. Muse? I like some of their stuff, but eh.... Would rather see them go after a Soundgarden or a similar act.

be prepared for Muse. Its fairly inevitable, really.
