As a Saints fan, I was in total bliss for about 17 football seconds. I still have faith in San Francisco finishing the job next week. I really just think between us not making the playoffs and Goodell being here for the Super Bowl, if Atlanta represents the NFC there will a lot of angry locals that will not want to be nice to the visiting dirty birds. I don't think it would get to the point where things would get dangerous, but I do hope we get egg the shit out of the Falcons bus.
All that is to say that I think San Fran looked too good last night to lose to Atlanta, so let's hope we don't have to play nice in three weeks.
I've been a huge fan of the Seahawks' staff this year. Obviously Carroll and Bradley, but even Bevell's playcalling really improved as the year went on. Today, the loss is on them. No idea why Carroll and Bevell didn't play for a field goal either time they were in the red zone in the first half. Maybe hubris? The red zone FGs by Hauschka last weekend were clutch, it seems they forgot that bit. Not sure why Bevell waited until the second half to start using the zone read with any regularity.
Finally, and most perplexing, I can't fathom why Bradley switched them to a PREVENT defense at the end. The Falcons only needed to get in FG range, prevent wasn't going to help. Seattle's D did a great job in the second half playing their usual man coverage, to switch it up at the end was indefensible. Also, the lack of Chris Clemons was really apparent, especially in the last ATL series, where Seattle couldn't get any pressure on Ryan.
Sadly for Falcons fans, with Seattle playing that poorly for 2/3 of the game, they should have won by at least two touchdowns. Much as I'm loathe to see it, I think the 49ers roll next week.
I liked Seattle going for it on 4th and 1 in the Red Zone earlier in the first half when it was 13-0, but not to give the ball to Lynch on either 3rd or 4th and 1 was unbelievable.
not gloating. atlanta played like shit the second half but luckily matt ryan was able to pull off another miracle drive to set bryant up. bosher was trying his hardest to hand the game over with those weak ass punts and the botched squib at the end.
SF will be a tough game and hopefully the Falcons will show up for more than just the 1st half.
The Falcons come close to blowing it just about every week, so we have to take pride in not how we won, but the win. BTW, I like your choice of the word "preen" when talking about falcons.
not gloating. atlanta played like shiz the second half but luckily matt ryan was able to pull off another miracle drive to set bryant up. bosher was trying his hardest to hand the game over with those weak ass punts and the botched squib at the end.
seriously though quack you bosher
Matty Ice isn't exactly off the hook either. Given the situation, his interception thrown into double coverage up 13 in the 4th quarter is one of the worst playoff INT's I've seen in a while.

but he made 2 great throws to setup the game winning fg.
Ah, against Baltimore again. Should be a good one.
And man, Quizz Rodgers - I like him. I've liked the guy for years, he has some good talent for being small. Danny Woodhead type, can do a lot of different things and surprise when few expected it.
I might have been trying to find a Quizz jersey recently, not gonna lie.
I'm sorry, congrats on your playoff win. But if I recall, dirty bird fans egged our bus, so forgive me for hoping to see it happen to you if you win next week, which you probably won't.
I agree that Bronc-Ravens game was one of the best games I have seen in a long time! Wish I could have watched that ATL-SEA game(damn you work!!! ), looks to been another good one, but with Seahawks down 3 tds going into the 4th qtr? ATL will be crushed by San Fran next week. I would say Pats beat Ravens, but I think that defense is railing around Lewis, it is gonna be a close one!
For the Super Bowl, I am going with what the media wets themselves over, Brother vs Brother, who is Jack going to pull for?
On the other hand, if I am wrong on both accounts, then I called this Super Bowl a long time ago, like before last season.

I agree with you, but the sentiment rdk was replying to was the idea, "Atlanta let a lead slip against Seattle, so SF is going to wreck them" which has some logical fallacies of its own to contend with.
Never underestimate momentum when it comes to the NFL playoffs. SF-NE in the SB. It should be a good one but I see the Niners defense being much more likely to slow down the Pats than the Pats being able to stop SF. I think Billy P will be very happy when the dust settles.
We'll see. This is the same team that was crushed 42-13 by Seattle just weeks ago.
Seattle was tired. I think that shows in how they played the first half. Once they woke up, got a little momentum and played to their level of ball, they came back, which to me shows ATL is not as good as Falcon fans might think they are. Yes, somehow they let ATL go 40 yards in 25secs and kick a field goal, but as Juggs said, for that final drive, Seahawks changed their coverage, from what they had been doing all game. Put that game in Seattle, like Flaz said, or neutral field where Seahawks have not been traveling across the country the past week while ATL rested and the outcome would be different. So yeah, ATL will be crushed by San Fran.
Edit:or what Juggs said above me. I type slow.
As for the Ravens, I am sticking with that Ray Lewis momentum, even after this idiot Ayanbadejo for the Raven's tweets about the Pats. Dude, what are you doing? Do not give them any board material! Dumb ass.
Both will be good games and I am glad I have the day off.

Pats don't need bulletin board material for games like this.
I think the Falcons are going to have their hands full with San Fran. But, my preseason Super Bowl pick was Ravens vs. Falcons, so no reason to change that yet.
The most ridiculous thing is that the media marrative right now is how the Falcons got the monkey off their back and how clutch Matty Ice was, when the reality is that he played a below-average game and pretty much single-handedly let the Seahawks back into it with that ridiculous interception.
Yeah, welcome to today's sports media. Heaven or hell, great or awful, there is no in between you're either the best or the worst.

He gets some credit in my mind for shaking it off and making a couple nice throws to put them in position to win the game, but at the same time he was a minute away from another playoff collapse.
They should feel good about the win, because, at the end of the day, they beat a very good team in the playoffs, but they should also be worried at how quickly things came unhinged.
That pick was huge and an awful decision but he shouldn't take all the blame. Bosher gave seahawks great position with 2 awful punts which was equally if not more helpful to seattle. The difference is Matt Ryan came through with another miracle drive and Bosher gave seattle another shot with a botched squib.
