Alice Cooper - Taft Theater- Cincy - Amazing probably should be top ten Guided by Voices - Headliners - Louisville Judas Priest - US Bank Arena - Cincy - Just missed the Top ten Weird Al Yankovic - PNC Pavillion - Cincy - Very fun show I would recommend that you go see him at least once Paul Simon - Bank of KY Center - Northern KY - Excaellent show Just outside of Top 10 National - Cincinnati and Chicago (Opening for Arcade Fire) - Excellent but not as good as the show in indy MMJ - Memorial Coliseum - Lexington and PNC Pavillion - Cincy - Both good shows, but not as good as other MMJ shows in the past Brian Wilson - Lexington Opera House - Lexington, KY Avett Brothers - Rupp Arena - Lexington, KY - Just missed top 10 John Butler Trio - Madision Theater - Covington, KY - Just out of Top 10 Pixies - Louisville Palace - Louisville Phish - Riverbend - Cincy
Edit: Roo Shows that I forgot that were great - Kylesa, Graveyard, Twin Shadow, River City Extension, and Head and the Heart
Other shows that I saw in Small local venues that stand out are: Yonder Mountain String Band, Umphrey's McGee, Deerhunter (Way better than the Roo Set), Features, Tom Tom Club and Psychadelic Furs, Cornmeal, and Greensky Bluegrass
Most Dissapointing Shows/Didn't live up to the Hype: Black Angels - Louisville Palace - Roo set was significantly better and I went in thinking it would be as good as the roo set and it didn't come close. Arcade Fire - Roo and UIC Pavillion - Chicago - Enjoyed both shows but didnt come close to the expectations of the shows that I had. Primus - Roo - Just was lackluster compared to other shows of theirs that I have seen Deer Tick - Roo Portugal. The Man - Roo

Swans was definitely the most memorable show of the year for me. People were fighting and yelling at security, the band played the same brutal few notes for about 15 minutes, I felt like I was possibly going insane.
Too bad you missed that Swans/Pelican/Secret Chiefs3 show at Buster's. Woulda bumped someone from yr Top 10.
I know I'm still pissed about having to miss that night. Had tickets already and was walking out the door to go to Buster's when a minor emergency came up and kept me from going.

VNV Nation in Charlotte - Only time seeing this act, blew me away, way better than I'd expected... best audience participation of any show I've ever been to. Also, one of the most fun dance parties ever.
jealous, I've been wanting to catch VNV since I started listening to them, probably 5-6 years ago. i love their whole sound and everything about them. pounding futurepop beats, gloomy and industrial but also somehow upbeat and filled with hope. glad it translates well live!
it is hard to remember all the shows from last year, but it will be fun recall them.
My Morning Jacket/Neko Case - Alpharetta, GA: MMJ really delivered and seeing Neko Case was a really special treat. our dog's name is Neko.
Steve Angello - Voodoo Fest: it was so cold that night so we had to dance even harder to keep the blood pumping. great memory.
Arcade Fire - Jazzfest
Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue - Jazzfest
Foo Fighters - Hangout
Ween - Hangout
Judas Priest - Biloxi, MS
Phish - Charlotte, NC: best show of the southern leg IMO.
Phish - Superball IX
Skrillex/12th Planet - NOLA
Zach Deputy - Bear Creek: my first time catching him. a few youtube clips beforehand led me to think he was a poor man's Keller Williams, so I was shocked at how incredibly funky, fun, bizarrely psychedelic, and danceable this midnight set ended up being.
String Cheese Incident - Atlanta: huge shocker for me. we went expecting some nostalgia and a bit of fun but ended up getting a huge spacey dancey jam fest. my respect for SCI is now very high, can't wait to see them again.
