I hope you're all ready for how much more obnoxious I'm going to get when UConn repeats. I know it doesn't seem possible, but it is.
My roommate is from your nothing state and tried to turn Kemba Walker into our apartment wallpaper. I am sorry to say, no amount of Andre Drummond (yes, I know who he is) will stop the most storied NCAA basketball program in history from getting its record-extending 6th championship.
That's right CPK, I am a UNC Tar Heels fan.
Roy gon' shit on your boys.

The Heels better do some work on Michigan State tonight
The Harrison Barnes Hype Machine kicks it into high gear after tonight's game. World, meet your 2012 #1 NBA Draft pick! (unless reports are true and he truly values getting a degree, then it'd be 2013).

I look forward to watching UNC underachieve for a second consecutive year. Meanwhile, UConn is returning 4 starters from a national championship team, and added 3 highly touted prospects, including the consensus #1 big man in the country, who scouts agree would have been the #1 pick in the NBA draft last year, and will likely be the #1 pick whenever he leaves school.
Not to mention, Jeremy Lamb is going to destroy people this year. Bet.
Harrison Barnes, John Henson, Tyler Zeller.
Meet the best front court in college basketball.
And saying you are returning "four starters from a national championship team" is like saying the Cavs returned "four starters from an Eastern Conference finals team" the season after LeBron left.
Flanzo I thought you weren't a college sports fan...?
I'm not, I am the fan of one team of one sport. I only watch UNC games, unless there is an NBA prospect I want to get a look at in another game.
I still don't watch college football (I did catch that LSU/Alabama "game of the century", and it was something to behold, truly), but if they threw college LAX on the TV more than 2 weeks a year, I would enjoy watching that.
I still don't enjoy college sports as a whole, by UNC pride is a family thing for me (a fair amount of my relatives went there), and it helps me keep my sanity rooting for an actual successful sports team rather than the Jets/Mets/Knicks/Rangers shit sandwich I serve myself annually.
You and me both. Watching 145 pound Jeremy Lamb try to contain Harrison Barnes will be like watching Bambi try to contain a mountain lion.
Zeller may be goofy, but he's 7' and not a twig, so he can man up on the shorter Drummond. Having 6'10 John Henson standing next to him will also keep Zeller from being over-anxious to block shots.
And if you'd like to talk about signees, look no further than 6'8", do-it-all top recruit James McAdoo. That last name may look familiar because he is the nephew (and physical clone) of former NBA-MVP Bob McAdoo. Couple him with PJ Hairston (a sharp-shooter, smooth-stroke Ray Allen 2.0-type), and the Tar Heels are loaded for a NBA-level scoring average (high 80's is my guess).
Barnes/Marshall/Zeller/Henson are all top-50 players.
With Strickland/Hairston/Bullock/McAdoo the Tarheels have a versatile and talented top 8. They'll need one more player to step up to fill in a utility role.
I am not worried about them matching up with the Huskies, if it comes to that.

the most storied NCAA basketball program in history
I am a UNC Tar Heels UCLA Bruins fan.
Fixed that for ya Flanzo.
Yeah, I was hoping no one was going to pick up on that. Whatever. UNC has MJ, Dean Smith and Pre-Insanity Rasheed Wallace. Wooden, Bill Walton's red jew-fro and 88 straight? Pretty good also. Too bad they're in their "late 90's, early 00s UNC Tar Heel" stage where they inexplicably mediocre. Completely forgot they existed.

It starts tonight. This is my first year on UNC's campus, but I've been a Heels basketball fan for over 10 years, so I'm extra pumped about this season. Haven't been this excited about a UNC basketball season since 2004 with Felton/May/McCants/Marvin Williams. Gonna enter ALL the student lotteries and try to go to as many games as possible. I smell a championship this year, I really do.
Gotta beat Michigan State on that ridiculous aircraft carrier tonight.
Juggs, UConn might be returning 4 starters but UNC is returning 3 first rounds picks in Barnes, Zeller, and Henson. Both are great, top 2 teams this year IMO with Ohio State being the 3rd. It's UNC's championship to lose this year. I am worried about the game tonight though, Carolina seems to blow these kind of games for some reason.
Despite losing our #1 and #2 scorers from last season I think Arizona is going to have a fairly respectably season. We've started a bit slow but we started even slower last season and look where that got us. I'm not predicting another Elite 8 yet but we will see. If one of big men can turn into a consistent defender we have the potential to be really really good.

UConn will be in good shape. Lamb is really talented. If they have a true leader emerge, they may end up repeating. For all of Drummond's talent, I hope for Juggs' sake he doesn't become a locker room distraction. He has made it pretty clear his anticipation for the NBA, to the point of almost skipping out on college this year in hopes the new collective bargaining agreement would allow him to go straight to the league. UNC is loaded with talent, that's for sure, they need someone to backup Marshall at the point, consistently. And while Zeller and Henson are good low post players, at times they seem a bit soft. Ohio State is ready for a run, too, it doesn't hurt having he best player in the country. Kentucky is loaded with talent, of course, but their youth will probably keep them from going all the way. I expect this year to be a work in progress for my Blue Devils, a few bumps early on, but should be ready to make a run come tourney time once everyone's roles are established.

UK fan here. Most Div.1 wins of any program and second in Championships to UCLA (thank you Coach Wooden) We will be good early on but hopefully great by the end of the year. If not for a bad first half against UConn last year, we would have won the National Championship.
Everyone talks about how "young" we are. Terrence Jones is a Pre-season All-American as a Sophomore. Miller returns as a senior leader and Vargas is improved. Lamb coming off the bench will be an added bonus. By FAR the best freshmen class in America with Teague, Kidd-Gillchrist and Davis along with others. A Final Four will not be good enough for us this year. I also hope if we play UNC again they let Harrison Barnes keep shooting at the end of the game (MY GOD did he brick some shots that game.)
And if we really are gonna talk draft picks...Really? Really? two years ago 5 in the first ROUND! NBA talent plays at U.K. EVERY year. Unless you are a UCLA Bruin fan, there is no argument as to whom the best team is all time in college basketball. The team with the most wins...The University of Kentucky Wildcats.

This is Kentucky's best chance for a title, as opposed to recent years past. For all the talent John Wall and Co. had, the lack of experience is probably what doomed them, Terrence Jones returning this year is huge for them.
And all of this talk of the most storied programs is lame as hell. Sure all of the wins/titles from centuries ago is nice to hang your hat on, but its all completely irrelevant today.
I hope you're all ready for how much more obnoxious I'm going to get when UConn repeats. I know it doesn't seem possible, but it is.

Uh most storied? Then you're first in wins right? WRONG! More championships then UK right? WRONG!

Kentucky has about 25 more seasons than UNC, so I would hope they have more wins.
UNC is more "storied", meaning they are more synonymous with winning. I admitted I flubbed by discounting UCLA, who had the most impressive stretch of dominance that any major sport has seen at that high a level of competition. But Kentucky? Please.
Kentucky actually only has one more title, not two, since UNC won a pre-tournament era national title.
Give us one more season, and your "titles" argument is moot.

The Helms trophy is not a national championship. I hope you realize the recipient of the Helms Trophy was decided by a panel of "experts." Similar to the poll rankings we have today, except the "experts" could only go on what they saw in person or read in the papers and had no affiliation with the NCAA. UNC is the only that claims an additional championship as a result of this, but go ahead if you want, Kentucky was awarded the trophy once, too, so you are still behind. Kansas has two of them, but they don't have national championship banners hanging for them.

I honestly didn't know Kentucky won any one of them. I still think they should count, even though they were retroactively awarded, because there are very few disputes to their selections. That Tar Heels team went 26-0 that year, so it's unlikely they weren't the best team in college basketball.

My hatred for Kentucky Basketball is strong right now thanks to their obnoxious fans and this choad that decided to play super dirty and generally act like a jackass in last year's tourney:

Lol on the winning tradition at UNC. Most final fours goes to UNC. So how is it they have less championships than UCLA or UK? Easy...they choke when they get there. Look I have no problems with UNC being a top 5 program. But since they are not ahead in wins or titles, they are just a top 5 program. Considering we were on probation for awhile, I am surprised we are still first in wins...but we are.

as long as "the whinning bitch" Zeller plays at UNC, you really have no argument. He whines ALL the damn time. I watched him in high school in Indiana and guess what he did then? WHINED ALL THE DAMN TIME! His brother is heading to IU and guess what? HE WHINES ALL THE TIME TOO! I mean seriously....
Must run in the family. Why did all the UNC players come back this year? Oh yeah...they got beat in the elite 8 last year. No worries tho. Zeller will still whine.
