That's the problem, we just dismiss that they are riping us off because of a 'value.' There's no reason for fees to be half of the cost of your ticket regardless of a discount, I think that makes it worse. Almost a slap in the face.
I've bought one Ticketmaster ticket this year and it was Beck, and fees were stupid. There's lots of smaller venues here that use ticketweb, sell through songkick, winter circle or front gate that don't charge outrageous fees. The civic box office doesn't charge the Ticketmaster fee either.
I know I'm not really buying a bunch of shows this year, due to circumstances, but that really makes it much easier in making the decisions not to buy from Ticketmaster. I have to be stingy on my music purchases and $22 with $14 service fees each ticket are not worth it. Especially when that $14 is going to Ticketmaster. Lawsuits do not change policy and as long as we buy tickets from them they well never change policy and will constantly raise fees.
But I want to see Sia.
I hear ya. I am not a HUGE fan of hers, she is very talented and has some great shows, but that $14 in fees per ticket is basically me going to see someone else. Maybe someone that I like way better, like Local Natives on Friday, or Small Black/Wild Nothings on November 3. Shit I could see Phantograms on Nov. 3rd at the Joy Theatre and STILL not have to pay the fees.
But once again, you wanting to see Sia and it being a Ticketmaster show, where they fuck you in fees and we just bend over and take it is the problem.

I wish that I didn't have to use Ticketmaster so much, but they seem to have a monopoly on all the major venues in the Boston area. There are a couple of box offices where you can avoid the massive fees, but it's inconvenient for someone who doesn't live or work in the city.
That really sucks. It used to be like that here as well. But we have had a bunch of smaller to mid-sized venues open up and there are more options now. I personally prefer the smaller shows at some of those venues. Tickets are way cheaper and they aren't through Ticketmaster.
Good luck! I just got back from their show at The Earl and it was great. During the show they mentioned they needed a place to crash tonight. Maybe you can get lucky and they'll play you a private living room set in exchange for a bed.
Don't you mean "play you a private bedroom set, in exchange for sleeping in your bed?" Meow.
Oh man, go read the comments on the concerned mom video. SO many, "I heard about this song from the crying lady." I don't even care if they're real; I'm dying at this.
Also I hope Vince has seen this because I fee like he'd love it.
My favorite comment was the one hoping he saw it and sampled it on his next release.
I did something like this recently. Some old snake friends left me a voicemail saying how they missed me. It was obviously ironic so I sampled it and made a diss track over it.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Man I don't read more than the last handful of posts at any given time.
Not me. If it's a thread I follow, I will read every single post I missed.
I can tell you've been on a binge reading spree when I log on and have a bunch of "Bonzai liked your post in ..... thread" and they are all from posts made days prior

What's a good word for intense disappointment after spending 20 minutes looking for a post and not finding it? I am pretty sure bacon said something similar a year or two ago

Finally got around to developing the disposable camera from Roo this year and I'm gonna pick up the pictures after work. I'll post them on facebook and tag anyone I'm friends with. Get ready to see how stupid you all looked at brunch.
So I live on the same block as Wrigley Field, and the Cubs first playoff game is tonight. I'm not the biggest baseball fan, I grew up supporting the Tigers because my parents were from Michigan and Indy didn't have a team. However, I'm pretty excited for how energetic everyone has been around here. We'll be watching the game as we pre-game for Leon Vynehall with Bonobo that's taking place right down the street, and it's pretty cool that you can hear the crowd cheering when they make a big play from the apartment. I'm just really eager for tonight and this weekend in general, it should be a fun time! Hope everyone else has a fun weekend too
