I put a decent slice into my leg below my knee on Saturday climbing into a pontoon boat that the rental people somehow thought was perfectly functional without a ladder. It surprisingly hasn't hurt that much aside from when I stretch my leg. Unfortunately, you'd be really surprised by how many movements require you to do exactly that.

It makes me sad when people don't fully appreciate Jason Isbell's DBT songs or albums before Southeastern
His songs were the reason I got into DBT. Decoration Day was my first DBT record, and the titular song was the first DBT song I really loved. I love Patterson and Cooley's tracks as well, but there was something so immediate about Isbell's Trucker's songs, they just really go for the emotional jugular but without ever being overly earnest or cheesy.
I think his Southeastern and forward input has the same intensity, only he has matured as a song writer and as a person. I think his more recent tunes have more wisdom, depth, and weight, but without losing any of the emotional impact.
I loved what he said before he played Codeine at Roo this year, something about how when he wrote it he was a different person and back then he thought it was sad, but now that he's different he thinks its funny. Sad or funny, it's a fantastic song.

I absolutely don't want to discount his last two records. They are both really great and have songs up there with any in his career. I just think there's a lot of people who have come in in the last few years that haven't gone back and discovered the rest of it.
Not to return back to an old discussion post or anything but I remember when I moved to Minnesota and I got raked through the coals for not pronouncing 'New Prague' correctly.
I know it's only June, but my kids might have just come up with their Halloween costumes for this year. 8yo said he wanted to be Kanye, and his sister could be Beyoncé & his brother Kendrick. They all support this idea. I did have to break it to R that he can't paint his face (he doesn't know better, but he does now).

Kanye and Beyonce could be easy. Kendrick might take a bit of thinking to have some distinguishable outfit.
And yea.....black face may not be that great. Maybe a mask or printout of their face that can be made into a homemade mask. Or DIY something like this:

The 14yo being Kendrick would actually be perfect, because he swore he wasn't doing our theme costumes anymore. A costume of a white t-shirt, hoodie & a ball cap is probably all he'll want.
