Yes, assuming I'm not some nasty boiled hot dog a la James Coney Island or something. But grilled, especially if I'm borderline burned, oh hell ya.
However, if I were a boiled hot dog, I'd probably try and get a gig along side the Oscar Meyer Wiener-Mobile. You know, see the country while getting paid.
What is your favorite house in Game of Thrones?
It's such a boring answer, but I think I'd have to go with the Starks.
Which region of Westeros would you want to live in?
Probably the Vale, assuming I don't have to deal with the politics/people in charge. If I do, then I think I'd go with Dorne.
Did you read the books? If yes, then what's your favorite book of the series so far?
Yep. It's been so long since I last read the books, I don't really know at this point. They've all sort of blended together. They're up soon on my re-read list, so will wait til then.
Did I successfully peer pressure you into buying The World of Ice and Fire?
Yes and no. Haven't bought it yet, but it's the first thing going into my cart once I get enough Amazon points. Really does look cool.
Definitely my mom. On just about every level/aspect, I'm more like my mom than my dad. Just our general outlook on life, the way we think, etc. My younger brother is much more like my dad.
What goals do you have for the next five years?
Owning a home, or at least having the majority of the down payment saved up. I like the freedom renting provides, not tied down to a certain location. But then I look back at the massive amount of money I've paid in rent, and have nothing to show for it. No equity like a home. So I know that's something that needs to change at some point.
Doing some seasonal work for the Bureau of Land Management. Up here til the end of the month, then going to spend 4 or 5 days in Glenwood Spings, CO on my trip back to Texas. Should be back just in time for Flying Lotus and Radiohead wk 2 of ACL.
My main focus on the job is updating and ground truthing the National Hydrography Dataset. It's basically a big map of the country that shows all the water sheds and sub-water sheds. It's not super accurate though. It was made a long time ago, and most of it was based off of contours on topo maps. So basically cleaning it up a bit, remapping some sections of streams where it's not clear from aerial imagery, making sure streams are classified correctly, that sort of thing.
Which means the vast portion of my job is hiking in the wilderness mapping streams. Which is pretty amazing if you're into the outdoors. I've seen some absolutely stunning country since I've been here. I'll try and upload a few pics at some point during the month.
What was the first album you listened to that made you realize music was going to be a major part of your life?
Probably Deloused in the Comatorium and Frances the Mute by The Mars Volta. I ordered both of those albums at the same time, when Frances was released. I remember being completely astounded by what I heard. Unlike anything I had listened to previously. It took me numerous listens to fully appreciate the layers.
I want to say the reason I even ordered the Volta albums was someone mentioned them in a review for Shpongle's album Tales of the Inexpressible, which I had just picked up and enjoyed. And I want to say I somehow got into Shpongle through Tool, but the exact order of events escapes me.
In my love of all things Omar and Cedric, I was led to a fansite called The Comatorium. It was there that my music tastes sprawled even further.
Until my first festival (Bonnaroo 2007), then it just got out of control. And it was Tool that originally brought me to Bonnaroo.
It all comes back to Tool...
What band/artist have you seen the most live?
I really wish I had a concert tracker, I need to start one soon. But I think it would have to be Tool. Probably seen them 6 or 7 times? Would have to sit down and look at past tour schedules to be sure. The Mars Volta would be second, probably 5 or 6 for them, even more if you count other Omar/Cedric projects.
Acid Mothers Temple is probably number 3 around 4 or 5. Been too long since I've seen Kawabata call heaven and he'll forth from his guitar.
What would you call the item pictured above:
A. Soda B. Pop C. Soda pop D. Sprite E. Coke
Either soda, Sprite, or coke (generic southern usage), depending on the situation. I used to use soda/coke pretty interchangeably, but have consciously said coke less and less as the years go on. But if I were looking at that specific can and you asked me, I'd say Sprite.
Favorite TV series of all time that is finalized?
This is really tough. I might have to go with Curb Your Enthusiasm. Maybe Arrested Development or even Star Trek: The Next Generation if I'm in more of a sci-fi mood. All three of those series I could watch time and time again.
Least favorite music venue you've been to? Favorite?
Whatever fucking shithole I saw Mastodon/Clutch at in San Antonio. 210 Kapone's maybe? Basically a shitty metal roof over a parking lot, but all closed in except for the back wall. No AC, no ventilation, and the staff was fucking horrible. They were SUPER anti moshing. Motherfuckers, it's a Mastodon show and you want to stop people from moshing/crowd surfing? So really overbearing security that was constantly shining flashlights at people (ya, that really gets them to stop moshing).
At one point, and no idea what led up to this, a massive swath of pepper spray comes through the audience. Not sure if the staff set it off, or some dickhead patron. But it honestly wouldn't surprise me if the staff did.
Favorite is probably Mohawk in Austin, but I've yet to hit some of the real iconic places (Gorge, Red Rocks). I checked Red Rocks schedule on my way up/back, and nothing I'm interested in unfortunately.
I really like the Mohawk because they have a cool tiered balcony set up. There's also some really great side stage areas from the balcony, great view to really watch what the artists are doing. So you can either chill up on the balcony and take the whole scene it, or be down on the floor. And the whole venue is outdoors in downtown Austin, so it's usually a cool view from the balconies down Red River.
This is really tough. I might have to go with Curb Your Enthusiasm. Maybe Arrested Development or even Star Trek: The Next Generation if I'm in more of a sci-fi mood. All three of those series I could watch time and time again.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
Your job sounds cool, what did you study in school? How did you end up landing the job?
I have a B.S. in Geology and have been working as a mud logger in the oil field for the past ~5 years. Been wanting to transition out of the oil field and into hydrology. Applied for lots of different hydro jobs, but didn't really get any hits as I didn't have any direct experience in the field yet. Discovered the options available in the BLM, Forest Service, and USGS and just started applying to any hydro job I saw at pretty much any location. Thankfully got this job out West. I've always loved the outdoors, so being in this type of land is amazing.
Looking back, what job did you want to have when you were a kid? a teenager?
I remember wanting to be a video game programmer for a while as a teenager. I was actually a computer science major for my first few semesters of college. I enjoyed the logic/puzzle solving aspects of writing code, but quickly realized I didn't want to be inside writing code all day for the rest of my life.
I don't remember anything specific from my earlier childhood, but I have to imagine I wanted to be an astronaut at some point. Never had the firefighter/cop phase.
What's the best day you've ever had at a music festival?
Hmmm, maybe Friday of Levitation 2015. Got to see (in order that night): The Holydrug Couple > SURVIVE > Indian Jewelry > DIIV > Lightning Bolt > Spiritualized > The Sword > Tame Impala > Metz
Fri of Bonnaroo 2013 was pretty great with Paul McCartney and Animal Collective's LN set.
This is really tough. I might have to go with Curb Your Enthusiasm. Maybe Arrested Development or even Star Trek: The Next Generation if I'm in more of a sci-fi mood. All three of those series I could watch time and time again.
Hell ya, had no idea Curb was coming back for another season! Arrested Development, mixed feelings. See below:
What are your thoughts on Season 4 of Arrested Development?
I fucking hated it. I didn't even finish it. Think I stopped around episode 6. I need to go back and give it another chance, but it was just not clicking for me in the slightest.
What has been your favorite camping experience so far?
It can be a festival, but I know you do some camping outside of festivals.
I absolutely love camping festivals, but that's not camping in my book.
A massive chunk of my best outdoor memories are being made right now while in Idaho/Colorado this summer. I spent 3 or 4 days in Glenwood Springs, CO on the way up, and will be spending more like 5 days on the way back to TX.
For my current job, I've been working 4 - 10 hour days, so I've had 3 day weekends pretty much the whole time up here. That's allowed me to really take advantage of the opportunities around me.
Prior to this summer, I had only car camped. I picked up some back packing gear while up here, and got to take my multi-night back packing camping trip. Did a 2 night trip to a high alpine lake:
My favorite so far is probably my hike up Table Mountain, right next to Grand Teton National Park. The hike is kinda strenuous with 4000' in elevation gain, but it is absolutely worth it. When you reach the summit of Table Mountain, you are literally 2.25 miles away from the Grand Teton. It's the best view you can get of them.
A look at Table Mountain and the Tetons in the distance. Table Mountain is the bump at the end of the ridge:
Panorama from one point on the Table Mountain trail. I had just ascended from the valley below in the pic up a series of switchbacks. Definitely the most strenuous portion of the hike:
I got to go to Glacier National Park this past weekend. It was probably the most visually stunning place I've been yet. I just didn't plan it very well, and the weather was kinda iffy, that's the only reason it's not number 1 on my list so far. I'd love to go back and spend a whole week there.
A look down on the glacial valleys while driving up the Going to the Sun Road. If you look closely in the background, just right of center, you can see a massive waterfall. I think I read it was 492'.
I loved the view in this pic, looking right down the glacial valley. You can see the perfect 'U' shape it carved:
Looking up Lunch Creek:
Glacier NP is really far north. I came across this sign while driving to my campsite:
My actual campsite was 4.5 miles from the border.
Spend most of my other weekends doing what's called "dispersed camping". It basically means you can camp wherever you want on BLM or Forest Service lands. So you just drive/hike wherever, find a nice spot, set up camp, and relax. I've found I like camping with no one within 100 yards of me. It's kind of ruined normal campgrounds for me, but I suppose that's a good thing
I'm hoping people are going to be able to zoom in on the panoramas, they're pretty sweet full screen.

I'm sure I'm not the first to say it, but season 4 really does take more than one viewing all the way through before it gets good. The arrangement is really convoluted, so a lot of the jokes don't become jokes until you've seen the whole thing. I have enjoyed it more every time I've watched it (three or four now).

If you had an extra hour in the day, what would you do with it?
Is there a point in your life where a trivial decision had profound consequences?
If you were in a cage match with aggressive 5 year olds raised on kung-fu movies that would come in infinite waves of 5-7 at a time, how many do you think you could take out before they got you?
You are president of inforoo. What cabinet positions do you have and who fills them. who is your VP. What was your platform in the election and what do you do in your first 100 days?
Would you rather get a face tattoo or have a righteous Joe Dirt mullet for the rest of your life?
Would you rather rap battle or thumb war for the fate of your soul?
I don't have any, but am definitely interested in getting one/some. It's not something I'm looking to rush out and do, but I could see it happening in the next couple years. When the right design hits me, it'll happen then. I'm sure I'll probably spend 6 months finding the perfect artist too.
Do straight bananas freak you out a little?
Nah, we all need love. Let them be who they want to be.
Do you want kids? If so what would you like their names to be?
Honestly, no, kids are not in my future plans. Not dead set against them, and if the right person/situation came along...maybe.
What keeps you up at night? What helps you sleep soundly?
I'm not a very anxious person, and there aren't really things that regularly keep me up at night. If some major event in my life has occurred, then sure. But in general, I know worrying about things won't accomplish anything, so I try cut it out of my life.
Herbal supplements help ensure I fall asleep quickly.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Who are you most envious of—real or fictional—and why?
I think I'd have to go with someone like Paul McCartney. The influence he's had on pop culture and music, and the fact that he's still going strong at his age. I can't even imagine the things he's seen in his lifetime.
What is one thing you’re embarrassed to admit you want to try?
I've always had a secret love for dreadlocks. I know I'd look ridiculous with them, but I entertained the thought for a while, while in college.
Have you ever won anything? Big or small?
I won the 3-legged race during a Field Day event in elementary. Mikayla and I were pretty quick!
What food will you absolutely not, under any circumstances, eat?
Thousand Year Old Egg, no way would I ever try that.
If you could buy one material thing, and money was not an issue, what would it be?
A hang glider that includes transportation to mountain tops via helicopter. I've always wanted to hang-glide, and being able to launch any mountain top would be amazing. If I had a super power, flight would certainly be in the running to be #1.
If you could change your first name what would it be?
I don't think I've ever actually considered this before. I'd have to give this some thought before I answer it.
Can you hula hoop?
It's been so long since I've even tried, but last I can remember I could keep it going for a little bit (less than a minute), but that's about it. I'd be willing to give it another shot though...assuming I'm drunk enough.
I nominate myself for the entire summer. The time has come to celebrate me. Let's get to the core. Anxiously awaiting your queries and to confirm my status for the entire season.
