Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Yes, I'm a planner. To me, that's part of the fun. ;D By the time we get to our destination, most of the plans go out the window, but it's fun making them.
You're in good company here. "Be prepared" isn't just an nice idea - it's the result of lots of pre-planning. Of course having the ability to wing it can be useful too - that's what Plans B, C, and D are for...
You guys are so sweet. <hugs> I'm glad I stopped by to check for updates. It's only one week now.
It really wasn't my intention to lay a guilt trip on anyone or make anyone feel bad. I was getting a lot of replies saying I (or we) probably shouldn't even go to Bonnaroo. Apparently, I come across to some as too uptight & inflexible to fit in with the Roo crowd. I really am looking forward to going, & it was getting discouraging. I took the replies as a sign that my obsessive planning was really starting to get on some people's nerves. Yes, I'm a planner. To me, that's part of the fun. ;D By the time we get to our destination, most of the plans go out the window, but it's fun making them.
Thanks again, for all the kind words. I'll continue to lurk & try to avoid asking the dumb &/ or annoying questions.
trippindaisy, You're much more cool that I am. I'm a sports nut, & my son has little interest in sports. I grew up listening to the music I thought was fun & had a good beat (80s style). We didn't dissect songs for their true meaning. I didn't really know there was a deeper meaning in most of them. I've had to learn all about music from the ground up, just to be able to discuss it with him, & show that I'm interested in his life. It's been an enlightening experience.
Yay ;D ;D Look whos back!!
Now dont be going and leaving us again. Overlook the jerks and ask ALL the questions you want, no matter how trival!!
Inforoo is a better place with your participation mom.
If it weren't for Inforoo I would have regretted many things my first Roo. I had everything I needed down to a pinpoint thanks to the logistics area of this board There would have been many things I would have been wishing I considered or had if I hadn't PLANNED and checked that out. Good luck.....you've got about 5 months so you should have it all figured out by then

I couldn't POSSIBLY agree more. I love the planning so much...not just for Roo but for any trip/purchase/etc...
I don't think anyone meant you shouldn't go to Bonnaroo because you were uptight and inflexible. I think they were well-meaning in looking at some of the issues that you had (a pet, back problems, having to try and meet back up, etc). I think it's awesome, however, that you are going to Bonnaroo. 'Roo is what you make of it and it sounds like you are planning on making it a wonderful family vacation. Any questions are always welcome, no need to just lurk :-)
Planner? I have a spreadsheet showing every stop I need to make from New Jersey to Tennessee. Only get 10MPG with the pickup towing the camper.. I have checklists for food, supplies for the camper, what to do a month, three, two and one week before the trip.
Let me know if you need any spreadsheets...I have a ton..

I wouldnt mind em. Im coming from NY, so its pretty much the same trip. Most of the folks who came with us last year were last minute deals. Upon planning 3 weeks before the festival, they all gave me the biggest line of sh*t about "over-planning". I laughed at the comment considering nobody else did anything. In a nutshell, we were comfortable but could have been more so had anyone listened to me. After 6 hours in the heat everyone pretty much agreed that had they chipped in the $35 extra it could have been a MUCH more comfortable experience.
This year everyone seems to be listening. The person who agreed the most was my jewish friend who got the worst sunburn Ive ever seen in my entire life. He still has the outline of his shirt burned into his skin.
I was born in the back seat of a Yellow Cab in a hospital loading zone and with the meter still running. I emerged needing a shave and shouted 'Time Square, and step on it!
Hey Stuckinutreo, I would be happy to send you lists. Not the "where to stop for gas one", reason being that I need to stop for fuel every 150-175 miles.. Other lists are what to pack in the camper, truck, personal and food. Again the food (shopping) list is only going to have vegetarian meal selections. Is this your first time headed down?

3rd time heading down, but I always like to be prepared. If its too much of a bother don't worry about it. Just interested because Im one of those folks who always feels as if he's forgetting something. Im sure there'd be at least 2 things on there that I wouldnt think of.
But like I said, If its a bother its cool. I dont need it that bad, the gesture is good enough for me

If you haven't figured it out by now, yes I'm blond. I'm also a bit confused about what I said wrong. ??? My karma has really gone down the last 2 days. I won't spend too much time worrying about that, but it does make me wonder if I've said something to offend you. You are a great group & have been very helpful. I do appreciate it & definitely didn't mean to offend anyone.

there is no such thing as planning too much for roo.... if that is the case it would mean it's a bad thing for me to be mentally packing my car six months prior to leaving

It was a total of 14 driving hours. We leave at 4PM on Wednesday and drive until midnight, stay in the camper at the walmart in Marion VA. Then on Thursday we get up at 6AM and got there by 1PM. This is stopping for gas (every 175 miles) and food. I have done as well as 8 hours to the TN/VA border (Bristol) when I go to the NASCAR races. Figure another 45 min for you. You are only a little more east of me on I-78. It is a nice leisurely drive. Remember I'm towing a camper not just driving a car so your time should be a little better.
