I might have not looked hard enough, but I could not find a topic similar to this. If there is one, I apoligize - just direct me to it and I'll shut up.
Anyway, I was thinking it'd be cool to post any poetry or artwork others have created that were inspired by bonnaroo. I could start it off with this sketch of memories that I wrote right before going last year, my third time. I'm not a professional by any means...just thought it'd be cool to share this part of our experience!
Heaven, Once a Year in Manchester, TN
In heaven, there is music coming from seven directions. The thumping drums, dancing mandolins, and psychedelic guitars merge into one hum. Bicycles power light bulbs in a demonstration of conserving energy. I am struck with a feeling to ride long enough to light the world.
Thousands gather, and music moves them! These temporary angels wear no wings, only tie dye shirts, and they stay low to the ground to be with the others. One of them is in an ankle long skirt moving her arms offbeat to the music. Next to her a couple others play catch with an air mattress. The youngest one gets his bright shoelaces dirty in the mud.
Like last year, heaven arives and will fade away before the weekend is over. These angels will scatter and go back to the world where they are merely mortals, standing still in the limits of their quiet worlds. Today, heaven is a field is wide open. Go. Spin with your arms out.
